How to Water Cannabis Plants and Train Root Balls

So after much frustration with overfeeding and nutrient deficiency and leaf burn, I figured it was time I learnt about water, and you could full a tall glass with what I didn’t know about water. Here is a link to the full thread I read about watering https://www.420magazine.com/community/threads/the-proper-way-to-water-a-potted-plant.266274/

Too much light time like more then 13hr will slow your plants growth. 13hr to 12hr is more then enough. Any more and the plant won’t rest.

Great video, but cannabis is not a weed XD. Keep the videos coming!

Looks like you flushed the one strain and the yellowing is normal at the plants life cycle.. It also looks under watered… those buds should be huge… but yes water the sides of the pot and do half and come back after a few minutes to finish it off… bottom feed occasionally.. A lot of nute companies formulas are designed to buffer at a specific ph.. Ive never had a problem with them

  6. jaysun0ne on May 24, 2019 at 7:43 pm

In my limited experience, I have found random watering stimulates growth. Root training is something Im trying for the first time also. I love that opening line "Its all about the roots" so true.

From me as a pro when you’re not do not keep these plants either finish him off or keep rolling that Duty off of these plants at all Kim chemically screwed up by yourself what do you got for plants at 5 plants by five more clones different clones start over feel good deal new formulation with this new grow start over or watch but if you stay with this is Buds and check out these Sonoma California rules

  9. Michael Murray on May 24, 2019 at 7:50 pm

Not technically correct, you want to water right before they droop

  10. Ron Zee on May 24, 2019 at 7:50 pm

If you are using tab water as your source let the water stand at least 24 hrs before you use it

Thank you for this little bit of knowledge! I’m going to do this from here on out. Another key thing is feeding nutes every other watering or few.

Massive thanks really learned something you’ve earned my sub bud! Much love dude

  20. Pat Rey on May 24, 2019 at 8:03 pm

Some do recommend ph adjust before adding nutes. Just do enough to make it right after nutes added. Must do ph adjust before adding microbes.

Most importantly don’t jack the mix by adding ph down then ph up to correct.

  21. Joe Nunya on May 24, 2019 at 8:03 pm

Unless you’re in Living Organic soil no-till with worms and a cover crop.
In which case this is dead wrong.
You NEVER want your Living organic soil to dry out even a little bit.
And if you have a properly aerated soil with lots of rice hulls, pumice and biochar plus the worms keeping your soil aerated and you should be in FABRIC pots (which is most of your problem) then no you do not follow Emily’s watering technique.
That method is for people with soil that’s not properly aerated in plastic pots, then it works fine.
Your best bet however would be to get your soil right, use 7+ gallon fabric pots then you literally cant overwater and with fabric pots your roots air prune and create 1000s of root tips that completely fill the entire pot with zero root binding.

It’s not rocket science. Look after your plants EVERY NEED. This guy has been butchering his poor plants for god knows how long. His stoner talk drove me nuts.

  29. Lucky Situmeang on May 24, 2019 at 8:15 pm

bro.. basic rule of watering cannabis in soil grow, give it 20% run off and leave it for 3-4 days to dry.. always check for your run off too, for ph and ppm so you know what is coming off the soil when you flush with water or adding nutrients. (recommended using RO water) if you growing in 50%coco and 50% perlite like me. you better water it at lease twice a day or could be once a day depending on the size and strain of the plants lol

  32. Pat Rey on May 24, 2019 at 8:19 pm

The best way to tell when to water is to weigh the pot.

With practice you can find the 3 reference points that you need:
1)weight of pot with medium at proper moisture(eg fresh out bag FFOF, Coco or promix etc.)
    2) weight of pot dry (wilt) and
    3) weight at capacity (runoff).
Especially important with younger plants. And slow drinkers(give reduced amt. of water till it catches up to others)

Get your numbers for each pot size, 3"- 1 Gal – 3 Gal etc. Numbers will rise slightly as plant grows.
    (1 gal 600G dry/1200g runoff)(don’t water if 700 or more, 500 wilt)

Another thought; the plants eat like we do. When we are babies we don’t need much. Then when in teens thru 30 need most. Then when we get old we don’t need much anymore.
Same with plants; drink small amt. when young. appetite increases thru flower forming and flower building, then slows during flower ripening.

Another great video on YouTube "Watering Science and Art" e-Gro

Take note of His graph with the "Just Right vs Deficient" watering cycle.

So how the fuck the indios did it bru they use only water

  35. Brizals garden on May 24, 2019 at 8:21 pm

Let your soil dry out inbetween watering. Dont have to let them drop. Just pick up the pot. If its light and dry then water. I’m watering every 3 to 4 days. Thanks great info.

The climate you live in tells you how and when to water. My ladies in 5 gal home depot buckets grew 12 ft, ALL organic. Watered with can daily when mature. 90 plus degrees they get thirsty. The ladies will tell you when to water. I always watered enough to flow out bottom. Peace

  45. Ronnie Sutton on May 24, 2019 at 8:29 pm

I’ve been interested in experimenting using stuctured water or imploded water, I’ve seen a couple videos where they are using it on vegetable crops and getting the same results using only 10% imploded water compared to regular water,. Haven’t seen anyone doing this w cannabis yet

  50. Elijah Perrin on May 24, 2019 at 8:33 pm

It is so important to be able to lift your pails and know their weight, allow them to root bound, and then go one size up, good tips on focusing on the edges of the pail to water so the water penetrates to the bottom and feeds the newest and best roots avoiding root rot in the core of the roots. Make sure to check your run off for ph/ ppm so you know whats happening in your roots. Im not a fan of lst or any cropping but I use a full room over a closet so do as you have to. Good to see your progression as time goes on. I now do dwc to reduce bug issues.
