Cannabis, ER Vists and New Workplace Attitudes
Cannabis, ER Vists and New Workplace Attitudes
A new CDC report found that cannabis-related ER visits increased for young adults, teens and even children during the pandemic.
The biggest increase was among children under the age of 10, as well as between 11 and 14. Cases of kids ingesting edibles increased by 1,375% during the pandemic, which could have to do with misleading, kid-friendly packaging.
Attitudes towards marijuana may be shifting in the workplace. According to a 2022 report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 16% of private-sector employers test for drugs/alcohol.
Federal law requires drug testing for employees in safety-sensitive jobs, but other than that, in most cases employers aren’t required to test

Novice consumers sometimes take too much, feel ill, get scared and go to the hospital, but they are never in any danger. NO ONE has ever died from consuming cannabis in all of recorded history. – The "treatment" they get when they go to the hospital is a couple of hours rest (a couple more for edibles) with, perhaps, a mild sedative for the scare. Then, they are good to go – every time.
This rarely happens with experienced consumers. If it does, they know they will do better just lying down at home for a while.
When very young children and toddlers accidentally consume cannabis edibles, that’s not a cannabis issue. It’s a PARENTAL CONTROL issue, since there are at least a hundred substances in the home far more harmful than cannabis, many of which can actually cause death.
