Families urge government to fund medical cannabis research

End Our Pain, which campaigns for the benefits of medical cannabis, is set to deliver a letter to Health Secretary Steve Barclay on Monday, urging him to put aside £1.4m towards research into the drug.

Medical cannabis, which campaigners believe can treat neurological diseases, chronic pain and conditions like epilepsy, was made legal in the UK in 2018.

But to date, fewer than five people have received an NHS prescription, leaving the rest forced to go private, or even buy drugs on the black market.

Bad idea. No government involvement at all.

Research has already been done we know what it can do, yet we still have to ask why is it not legal? who is stopping this with lies and false statements, these people need to be held accountable

I smoked a lot when i was in my late teens, for fun. Never once did I experience any medical benefits from it.

Im 27 now and had a pretty major ankle break/dislocation that required 2 surgeries to correct, i can walk but its very painful, i have tried morphine, codeine, had physio etc. Nothing really took the edge off of the pain.

Had a joint and boom, i can walk without a limp. Its still sore and achey but the pain went from a solid 10 to a solid 3 and it was instsnt.

Uk are the world’s largest exporter of medical cannabis. Why not on the NHS.

evil forces do not want people to find and read the original Bible, Torah and Psalms. If the Qur’an is true and there is no true Islam now, then true Islam and They do not want the Qur’an to come. They don’t want them to read to find the truth. If the truth in all religions and thoughts can make the truth come out, they don’t want it either. . They also rely on people’s prejudices.

Big Pharma will do everything they can to prevent/minimise medical cannabis research. It is a threat to them and their profit margins. The big ‘medicine’ (often with terrible/sometimes lethal side-effects) suppliers, profit from their strangle hold on the ‘medicines’ we are prescribed. It is not in their interests to support medical research which might actually cure ailments when they can make money from supplying costly drugs which alleviate symptoms but require continual usage.

    ENOUGH.
THIS piece of reporting is virtually identical to every other report over the last ten f*cking years.

    Just legalise it already.
End the ridiculously destructive war on drugs.

  15. @techtinkerin on January 11, 2024 at 11:20 pm

Yeah but drugs are bad, all drugs no it’s no buts. Right time to have a coffee before going to the pub and tomorrow using paracetamol for the hangover.

  16. @XxTheAwokenOnexX on January 11, 2024 at 11:20 pm

Marijuana should have been legalized in 2008, as people have lost billions of taxes, due to governments failure by not delivering a green economy 🤣👍

  17. @williamyoung9401 on January 11, 2024 at 11:22 pm

Marijuana has been used not only to help with depression and anxiety, but to treat deadly physical disease as well like cancer. Time to stop the PC War on Drugs and let these drugs help the people who need them. Psychedelics too. Legalize it. Want research on it? Lightly tax it, and add it to the list of things NASA should be researching (again). It’s a shame the government and private corporations don’t have a 100% monopoly on the growing, transport, processing and distribution of marijuana and psychedelics, and make things they can’t control illegal, but these kinds of plants can help people and help cure people.

  18. @SkywatcherAnomalous89 on January 11, 2024 at 11:24 pm

  20. @Egzoset on January 11, 2024 at 11:24 pm

Sorry but i really doubt most UK citizens are prepared for what’s next when indu$trialization kicks in – and that won’t be pretty.

Legalize, yes! Too bad the meaning gets twisted in politi¢ian$ mouths…

  21. @jacksmith9146 on January 11, 2024 at 11:24 pm

Alcohol, can be damaging to the mind and the body, and in some cases, destroy lives or relationships with family or friends, legal .
Tobacco, harmful, nothing good to come from it heath wise, legal.
Legal highs, synthetic, plents of videos of people absolutely out their heads, often legal.
Cannabis, numirus health benefits, multiple uses, enjoyable for recreational use and social occasions, the one down side is… It’s illegal. 🤷‍♂️
Ohh the hypocrisy 🤦‍♂️ funnily enough, England is one of the world’s largest medical cannabis producers 😂

  22. @deedeewinfrey3181 on January 11, 2024 at 11:26 pm

It will never happen because the pharmaceutical companies cant profit and they own your politicans…bought and paid for.

  25. @evolvedmindset4163 on January 11, 2024 at 11:30 pm

If Opioid drugs which are highly addictive and are commonly prescribed for pain relief then dismissing Cannabis as a prescribed medicine is frankly idiotic.

  26. @purplelady837 on January 11, 2024 at 11:30 pm

Oh my goodness I cannot believe Britain is so backwards. Cannabis is legal in Canada and many use it for health. It’s absolutely amazing for pain, dementia, mental health, insomnia, and epilepsy.

  38. @CrawfordGriffiths on January 11, 2024 at 11:47 pm

Cannabis has been used for centuries to treat a very wide range of conditions they are just stalling as cannabis can not be patented as it is natural.
It was used in a lot of medications in the UK up till it was banned by the government

  39. @INHeadKay on January 11, 2024 at 11:47 pm

"Research". Come on! The UK is 25 years behind the rest of the world on this one. People are now legalising for recreational purposes, Germany will pave the way for Europe. The science is clear as day light. Big Pharma has lost the fight. Soon psychedelics will also defeat all their fake anti depressants and shoddy drugs.

  40. @richardanthonygilbey on January 11, 2024 at 11:48 pm

I’ve had the Army studying cannabis since 1980
There are no perceivable medical benefits
Cannabis is simply a recreational choice

  42. @peng9179 on January 11, 2024 at 11:51 pm

  43. @anissah161 on January 11, 2024 at 11:53 pm

They have! Look it up, they have been providing it for only select few. Once they want to loosen up on big pharma’s petroleum based poison – they will take this over – even though it grows naturally.
    Control never about health

  46. @snowredwang2033 on January 11, 2024 at 11:54 pm

Be careful UK and all democratic countries!

Now this mysterious and powerful virus army in UK has increased at least 1000.000 people because the dictators are using mankind’s weakness of greed and selfish to achieve their goal for taking over whole world anxiously. A lot of people for money are used and cheated to hurt themselves ignorantly.

However, after I wrote to the government, these virus and poison people become slyer and more secrete.

These virus people must be trained professionally so there are some virus training places of shooting or putting virus and even virus manufactures in UK.

Nowadays, the virus and poison has expanded into the different products and smell, for example, a bottle of water, foods and perfume etc. They will cause great harm to human beings present and future.

This is the apparatus and methods for disseminating viruses and poisons.

1, computer installed with software and a telescope that can adjust the distance and range to shoot the viruses and poisons.

2, mobile installed software with an ear piece that can adjust the distance and range to shoot the viruses and poisons.

3, mobile installed software with a backpack with an instrument inside that can adjust the distance and range to shoot the viruses and poisons.

4, A watch that can adjust the distance and range to shoot the viruses and poisons.

5, A pen with far and near range instrument to shoot the viruses and poisons.

6, they make a variety of different devices to transmit the viruses and poisons.

7, A person can put the viruses and poisons on the surface of their clothes to transmit viruses and poisons in a public place.

8, a person can put the viruses or poisons on the surface of the car and put it into the engine, when they drive, they can transmit the viruses and poisons to some spaces.

9, they make some fake birds to spread viruses and poisons in the sky and put some viruses and poisons on the birds and animals to transmit to other people.

10, they put the viruses and poisons into water to transmit to other people.

11, use planes to spread viruses and poisons in the sky.

The tools of putting virus have developed quickly. Before August 2022, the virus people require manual operation to finish this job through touching some places, objects or people. Why I know these as they have hurt me about eleven months from May 2022 to now.

After August 2022 to now, the virus tools gradually develop to hill-tech, different kind, even electric lights, children’s toys and mobile etc.

The world is dangerous, the dictators are quietly waging a virus war to destroyed the human beings!

God bless all kind people! Snowred

Legal Medicinal Cannabis is just as expensive. The ONLY reason its becoming LEGAL is because of the TAXES/PROFITS. NOT generalized duty of care or compassion. Its simple now apart of the CAPATALISM WHEEL OF BIG BUSINESS…..SAY NO TO LEGA(LIES)ATION ITS TIME TO NORMALIZE IT!!!!

  48. @petersmith2522 on January 11, 2024 at 11:54 pm

Just legalize it its a joke

  49. @watcherwriter1689 on January 11, 2024 at 11:55 pm

I was a raging alcoholic amd ruining my life with alcohol, I lost my job and my friends and family. I managed to quit alcohol using cannabis and fully got my life back on track. Seems crazy to me that my alcoholism was perfectly legal but using cannabis as a medication to help quit drinking is illegal

  50. @fingaz_uk on January 11, 2024 at 11:57 pm

They’ll push a dangerous mRNA product through that makes billions of pounds no problem, cannabis something that is natural and effective, no chance…
