Should The UK Follow Germany To Legalise Cannabis?

TalkToday debates whether the UK should legalise weed after Germany have introduced new laws on personal possession.

As of 1 April, adults are allowed to carry up to 25g of dried cannabis on them and cultivate up to three marijuana plants at home with Cannabis consumption by anyone under 18 will continuing to be illegal.

Dr David Bull says: “It has some really good properties!”

  3. @PoshMurder on April 11, 2024 at 8:42 am

Excuse me? Did he say people will steer away from taxed weed??
Mate. You can get eighths for Β£15 in much of the US, and Β£30 for an eighth is considered enough for pretty good quality and council folks are paying Β£20 for 1.4-2g.

They’re gonna LOVE regulation, if our gov doesn’t do a right cockup of it!

The no to legalisation lobby are always dependent on the effect on young people. Yet nobody is proposing that it be legalised for young people, so sorry to 18 year olds in the armed services, you can risk death fighting for your country, but you can’t legally have a joint when you go home to Mum, because its said it has a deleterious effect on your brain. Then so be it, don’t have it. However, Im 70, so why can’t I have my cannabis, when this cretin on here is probably knocking back the alcohol when he gets home, and nobody is promoting underage drinking anymore than they are underage cannabis use……….

  8. @kg9245 on April 11, 2024 at 8:46 am

    In short YES

  9. @BobsYerUncle_GT on April 11, 2024 at 8:47 am

Cannabis isn’t without it’s dangers and cons, but my GOD this is continually being painted as a ‘harmful substance’ and it’s fucking maddening
    Under 21? Don’t allow it’s sale,
History of schizophrenia, maybe it isn’t for you (particularly edibles). But my god, the benefits on stress relief, mental health, releiving inflammation, I could go on enough to write a small book.

End of the day this stuff is far, far, far less harmful than the likes of alcohol, you’re not preventing access to the plant, if it’s legal and regulated you’re making it less of a risk that people will get tainted cannabis or synthetic cannabis which can actually be very harmful.

It’s absolutely embarrassing how as soon as I turn 18 in the uk, yes 18 not 21 I can walk into any shop and buy enough alcohol and cigs to literally kill me that night but the police kick my door in over 3G of weed🀣🀣🀣 uk is so fucking dusted, my old area was littered with heroin users but the police would show up immediately over a weed complaint. Pathetic country to live in

  11. @MistaDjFantasicts on April 11, 2024 at 8:47 am

Come on lads , get a fucking move on and jump on the weed wagon

  14. @Fasteddyfishing on April 11, 2024 at 9:00 am

  15. @-Atmos1 on April 11, 2024 at 9:02 am

There are more Cannabis receptor cells in the human body than any other cell .
The man who is against it is out of date & still believes the propaganda from reefer madness .

  16. @Skyhighatrist90 on April 11, 2024 at 9:03 am

I’ve smoked it for 18 years abused it even and it fucked me up and ruined my life. I became lazy no motivation just wanted to chill and smoke weed. Woke up every morning first thing I thought was I need to roll up or how can I get a bag today got into huge debt. It might have its uses as medicine but it’s also really dangerous. Gave me depression and anxiety mental health issues and after 18 years I’ve packed it in even if they legalised it I’d not go back to it I was hugely addicted to it. I’m so glad I found the mental strength and used my child’s life as motivation to leave it all behind me. Each to their own of course things my situation it it can also be someone else’s. Listen to warnings from people who have used it for years and years.

  17. @tinhead9260 on April 11, 2024 at 9:04 am

Both the medical & illegal weed market is huge in the UK we should be ahead of the Germans & put it on a bender (no driving etc).

  24. @ObserversOfHumanity on April 11, 2024 at 9:10 am

    Should be legal everywhere.

  25. @Doyle69 on April 11, 2024 at 9:11 am

They always use side effects as a good reason as why to keep it illegal, yet all pharma meds have pages of side effects which 99.9% of them say ‘Death’… Cannabis has far less… Alcohol has worse side effects for depression, mental health, bi polar etc etc… yet we don’t even need a prescription for it….

  26. @jargent7979 on April 11, 2024 at 9:14 am

People are so stubborn on this the war on drugs have failed. You can get it here so easily anyway, get it out of the criminals hands. Think of the tax, I’ve moved over to Canada it’s legal here and they make billions in tax from it. It’s regulated and people are informed of what they are getting

  27. @happyhamsters6459 on April 11, 2024 at 9:15 am

I don’t smoke, but I think they really shoud legalize it, plus if people want it, their gonna get it

  28. @ErnieTheDestroyer on April 11, 2024 at 9:15 am

Legalise it and I will advertise it

    Yes, the UK should legalise

  32. @sharonajakaiye5692 on April 11, 2024 at 9:18 am

This is for anyone thinking cannabis is now mainstream culture. No, it’s not! Cannabis is harmful and anyone who cares about you will encourage you not to use it. It’s not just addictive, but it impairs judgement and leads to harder drugs as a matter of fact. Shady characters have always pushed for legalisation and British economy thrived when use was not so widespread. Maybe they should look at productivity too bcos after use, the brain never functions in its original form. Please ssy no to drugs so greedy, ruthless people never have control over you or lay claim to your money. Or involve you in crime. Shalom.

  33. @songswilson1581 on April 11, 2024 at 9:19 am

    Yes

  34. @gwazzle on April 11, 2024 at 9:20 am

So the obvious idea is not to tax a steep price on it and make it affordable for all

  38. @MrBrownieboy2010 on April 11, 2024 at 9:23 am

Legalize it, tax it, use the money for real issues. The simplicity of this process is too much too deal with, speacially for decades.

  39. @dietznutz1 on April 11, 2024 at 9:24 am

Everyone is scared of weed becoause they were scared of spice, which is valid.

  40. @benflather3555 on April 11, 2024 at 9:25 am

Too much government money tied up with big pharmaceutical companies to let it happen, also it keeps crime figures up

I’m german and for the first time of my life I’m proud of it!

  43. @Djehuti-85 on April 11, 2024 at 9:30 am

At least here in Germany Cannabis from the black market became very risky to buy because a high % of it is polluted by many harmful substances. You dont know even know what you get (what strain/breed and THC concentration). Legalization can lead to more consumers, sure, but probably not in the long run. And the majority get weed anyways already so overall a regulated market can have more advantages than downsides. There is not just the cannabis which comes to peoples minds (very strong and unbalanced Terpenes like in "fake haze" leading to negative effects), so Cannabis also has an image problem caused by prohibition.

  44. @skullgraff6349 on April 11, 2024 at 9:32 am

They wont do it. The pills in ur GPs that gets prescribed daily is going to loose sales. It will lessen prescription addiction thats 100% addictive tbf. If no money comes in they wont do it,

  45. @jamesmincher3435 on April 11, 2024 at 9:34 am

Medical cannabis is available in UK for anyone now and the quality is getting much better and prices good

  46. @gwazzle on April 11, 2024 at 9:36 am

By the way a certain mps wife owns or has shares in a cannabis production factory operating here in the UK which is ment to be illegal and is exported out to other countriese UK has been allegedly making a profit off it being illegal which makes sense as it would eliminate competition there for they are the only ones doing it

  47. @mandemlove on April 11, 2024 at 9:36 am

Even if it’s illegal in Uk it always felt legal in Uk πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

  48. @markbates6610 on April 11, 2024 at 9:37 am

so its kids on a deprived estate, then its posh people doing it if they legalise it and put it in posh shops. Lmfao, How about let people use the god given freedom of rights over their own body. We have common law if they mess up. Get rid of the Government and Media while we are at it.

If the uk πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ legalised weed we would be a wealthy country. But the uk government are dumb little rich people. They don’t care about this country.
