Filet mignon was the first cut of beef I ever learned the name of. It’s one of 3 primary cuts (ribeye, strip, filet mignon), and likely the most controversial.
It’s rare that you’ll find a steak aficionado or nerd (like me) who will say its their favorite cut, and most will even say its overrated. This is due to the lack of marbling & flavor, and also the premium price tag.
However, I believe the filet mignon is the ultimate crowd pleaser. It will always be tender, and even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy it.
Its also a great steak if you want to experiment trying different levels of doneness. If you believe you only like “well-done” steaks, try a filet cooked to medium, and work your way down to rare.
Hint: Walk by the meat section every time you go to the store and get an idea of what the average price/lb filet mignon costs. Every once in a while there are major discounts, take advantage!

Is it just me or do we humans have a tendency to just make anything complicated
Like bruh I just want to eat
Lol the music
Doesn’t pair with the steak but it’s a cool beat
Bro
Is there a reason you stew filet meat instead of just searing it as steak tips? Feels like a waste
This is an old ass video
Dude is actually giving us lessons, gotta respect that
Testicool
This is good one look like wagyu
Those filets have been breakfast every morning. Tender, but he’s right you NEED to season it or baste it or there is nothing going on except a slight beef flavor. Easy on the jaw, but don’t just use the table salt and pepper
The delay is for the best if it means they’re listening and making changes based on community feedback
best served raw
A lot of people like seeing things like this but as a pesketarion EW nothing against you but EW
I swear bro called the beef a bunch of constellations
Had a chateaubriand this week, you know what? It makes a good steak, but not worth the price 😢.
You’re Incredible
If you cut off like a inch or two thick it would look like a filet mignon
the tenderloin kind looks like something 🍆
he’s made every single dad proud.
NB: this is American butcher, & not how the rest of the world sees it! Certain things will be the same, certain bits will cover SOME if the same, others will use the same name for different parts! Eg, the tenderloin is the fillet. Very much consisting if you see a butcher from one part of the world then another, so don’t get confused
#steakschool
does that mean if a cow is killed for a porterhouse, does that mean the same cow can’t be sold for a full psoas major?
Meat:YOU didn’t have to CUT ME OFF
Exactly why people love rare meat. You do not want every cut of meat rare when you go out for dinner but this one is one you do.
He’s improved so much
Only class I wouldn’t fall asleep in.
Dude has a double
It’s called a PISMO

“Best served rare” and then he served it medium rare/medium.
chefs kiss looks so good
I ordered a tenderloin for a Beef Wellington recently and got to watch a butcher break this beautiful piece of meat down in person
I love how I know more about cow muscles than human muscels
Something I’ve noticed the meat from America is alot deeper red than the meat we have in Australia ours can be red at times but it’s normally alot pinker.
—responsible for back and forth movement and therefore we gonna eat it
i’m learning so much about beef from u🤣

I didn’t know cows had such big tenderloins! After all the fluff, the deer I killed a bit ago had a half foot tenderloin. (It was a Florida size deer)
