A guide to EU cannabis licensing + a view at Cansativa's vault

Marijuana Business Daily’s international analyst Alfredo Pascual visited Cansativa facilities near Frankfurt, Germany.

The company is a multi-brand distributor of medical cannabis to German pharmacies. This means that in addition to having products imported from the Netherlands, Cansativa also offers pharmacies products it buys from Canadian producers Canopy and Aurora.

Unlike other German distributors that use third-party service providers to storage and distribute the medicines, Cansativa operates its own narcotics vault compliant with German narcotics regulations.

In the following video interview, Cansativa co-founders Jakob and Benedikt Sons list and explain the differences among the main licenses and permits relevant for importers and distributors of medical cannabis in Germany:

Medicinal Products Act (“Arzneimittelgesetz” – AMG)
Narcotic Drugs Act (“Betäubungsmittelgesetz” – BtMG)
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
The permit needed to distribute irradiated medicines, known in Germany as “AMRadV”

MJBizDaily’s interview also includes exclusive access and original footage inside the narcotics vault of the company, showing how a real pharmacy order is processed in practice.
