TOP 10 MISTAKES Cannabis GROWERS MAKE – How to Fix Them

New growers dont lmoa whatbtheybdont lmoa and cannabis is something that can be vsdy complex, especially if you never grew a olant before. With years if experience, i bring you the top 10 mistakes that new growers make based on all the questions i receive when teaching new growers how to grow weed. Fortunately, these can be avoided if you knew about them so hopefully this will help prevent you from having to experience them.

1 Skimping out on the lights. Tons of reviews are sponsored, but nothing is better than seeing what people actually grew using them. Yes, of course some growers are better than others, but you will get an idea using law of averages. Here are lights that I personally used and the plants I grew with them. I no longer do light reviews, because I’ve come to the conclusions that results are better than any fancy light readings (How to you rate a grow light when you don’t grow?, jab jab jab). And for anyone curious, I am not nor I will NEVER be sponsored, check my contact me page on my site.

Complete new grower buy guide: https://youtu.be/3Bw35Y5Zfjs

2 Research the strains via the same methods as researching lights. Look for results, results results from amateur growers. Don’t trust breeder photos, they’re edited and photoshopped. I never see any transparency with how the plants were grown nor what nutrients they use so just use common sense. Look for a non affiliated grower and see what they grew from those seeds, Grow Diaries is a great site.

How to choose strains: https://youtu.be/X09RU2wY7xc

3 germinating seeds. Easy, water, h2o2(hydrogen peroxide), darkness, warm room. It takes 1 day for me on average!. The plant when taproot is as long as the seed(you may have to plant at different times if you’re doing multiple seeds). https://youtu.be/lUjtrMyCtkI

4 Know your soil. That is pH and ppm which measures acidity and nutrient content. Adding additional nutrients is only good when you know your base so avoid nutrient burn, deficiency and excess by knowing everything about your medium first. No feed chart is going to help you if you do not consider what’s already there. https://youtu.be/owHogKK7BxM

5. If using synthetic nutrients, pH balance your mix AFTER all nutrients are added. This will keep your soil in the grow zone which is a pH range of 5.8-6.5. Once outside this range, your plant will suffer from lockout because it wont be able to uptake nutrients at extreme pH’s. A good alternative to pH up is Silica, but you MUST add Silica to the mix first. Most nutrients bring pH down so Silica is a great counterbalance that also has a ton of added benefits.
My silica of choice: https://amzn.to/3PL2wIj

6 Overfeeding. Learn how to know the visible and touch signs to feed and use the calculation of soil volume x .08 for how much water you should use. Overfeeding will prevent oxygen from getting to your plant roots and they will suffocate and die if this is not fixed. If dealing with overwatering or underwatering issues, try a dunk: https://youtu.be/xzi0EVVlTBY

7 Avoid forums that have a lot of new growers. They seem to think everything is nitrogen deficiency of cal mag issues. Most of them need more help than you and all they do is regurgitate information from growweedeasy (which IMO is obsolete knowledge from people who dont even grow). I fux with growdoctorguides though, but overall, reddit and these site like ILGM or Rollitup are flooded with knew growers with power complexes that just want to act like they know more than you. They don’t, so instead of publicly asking for help, find an experienced grower IN THE MEDIUM YOU GROW IN and ask them directly. You can ask someone in our discord too, we have experienced members there and we check all our questions. https://discord.gg/zKG85AuQBj

8 DO everything gradually. When you do think abrupt or drastic, it will lead to shock and postpone or delay growth in your plants. Less is always more and always try to do everything in increments.

9 Learn when to harvest. It is vital and probably the most important time related factor with growing. https://youtu.be/_BgrQOw9G00

10 last but not least, is something I was extremely guilty of. Stop bragging about your plants. Unless you’re talking to someone who also grows. Most people really don’t care. Don’t become that person who only talks about weed. If you can’t resist the urge, that’s what channels like my discord were created for.https://discord.gg/zKG85AuQBj

That’s all for this list, if you enjoyed the content, like subscribe or check out my other videos and discord for some neat projects.

The 2 big beginner mistakes I see people making that nobody is talking about is 1. AIRFLOW – Nobody is talking about proper CFM, ducting, airflow, negative pressure, intakes etc… Your plants need to breathe! Don’t put them in a closet without airflow, purchase a 4.5inch hole cutting bit for your drill, drill the ceiling of your closet, run your exhaust fan into that hole into an attic/garage or outside! 2. Electrical things inside the tent, Move them outside the tent, this is a FIRE HAZARD. Seeing an entire rats nest of power strips, timers, all dangling next to the plant, the humidity is going to eventually short out those outlets and create a very bad day for you! Also move your humidifiers, heaters, OUTSIDE the tent, right next to your intake, saves room in the tent for more pots and you don’t have to worry about humidity getting into the heater and causing another issue!

What happens if I leave a light on 24/7 and feed fish fertilizer the whole time? Do I have to use products like fox farms and flora grow ? Would it still grow and smoke decent without

    What’s the best light for a 2.3×2.3 (70cmx70cm) tent? Is a 100w spider farma sf1000 evo sufficient? (LM301H Evo)

  9. @black-onion1776 on September 5, 2024 at 6:07 pm

I have some small plants and I want to transfer them into bigger pots I have to large pots that where used for my peach trees that I bought a few months ago but it is a plastic pot. Because I grow produce for the local farmers market my farm is subject to inspections but they always call a few days ahead. I want to grow my weed in my garden but if the inspector comes I will have to move them. I just want to know is a plastic canister used for trees ok for weed.

How are people watering their plants though? Everyone keeps talking about adding nutrients in with the regular watering but all I’ve been doing is watering with the hose attached to the side of the house LOL (outdoor grow) do you use a watering can and just keep refilling it and mixing nutrients? I have 12 plants rn and hose has seemed best but it’s my first time so idk

  18. @dmo848 on September 5, 2024 at 6:15 pm

I don’t do runoff at all in coco. I feed exactly what it needs a day. Got my stuff down to a science. I know almost exactly how much water will leave each day. $5 water meter from eBay helps allot also. Feed 1 time an hour after light comes on. Then didn’t touch till next day. Praying all the time. So they like it

  25. @djSpinege on September 5, 2024 at 6:24 pm

I regret Buying a PH60 a few years ago. Testing PH is only needed if I’m growing hydroponic. My grows do way better when I’m not fussing over PH. all you really need is decent water, if you don’t have that then filter and adjust the PH for sure.

As for the light tester channels. if you’re testing hundreds of lights on the market there is no way you could grow hundreds of runs to test each one. whats really valuable is knowing the efficiency of the light. Par testing distance of the light is not a problem as long as it’s kept consistent. They are testing the performance of the light and numbers don’t lie. Sure, having a full grow for each light would be nice but it would tell us nothing since each grow has so many variables. Thanks for taking the time to help others!

The don’t brag to your friends about the thing you happen to be doing, that they don’t do….. this thing can be substituted with just about anything. And this is very good advice ❤

  38. @wtlandry2 on September 5, 2024 at 6:40 pm

All problems and challenges are absolutely an education that is priceless. It’s hard to take the hit, but once you do. You learn. 🙂 Hell, I still overwater sometimes due to temperature fluctuations in the environment. So, you always need to pay attention.

  39. @SteveJ619 on September 5, 2024 at 6:42 pm

I agree … you can’t rate a light of the test meters…. Those meters are nice …

But when you put a light in a tent and it gets hot …

    That changes everything

All the Samsung lm301h evos run hot like 125F… And there using less leds … Sounds like they are being over throttled … That heats leds up. And makes them run less efficient and burns them out faster…

I don’t want that in my tent …. Maybe if a freezing garage…

But i want to know about the temps .. And that you shouldn’t use this in a room you’re already struggling to get the temperature down …

I hope the light i bought works out …mars hydro fc e8000

    Spot on bro
    I’d recommend anyone
    Seeking grow advice to
You, 420 scene and the strain show.
All of you are very informative
But you stick out the most
    Because you’re more in
Depth with what actually needs to be done.
    I appreciate you bro
    We need more people
    Like yourself.

  46. @OgLtBlazer556 on September 5, 2024 at 6:48 pm

The Mr. Grow It comment has me confused… The strain he said wasn’t his personal favorite was Freakshow by Humbolt Seed Co. The light he was using, AT THAT TIME, was a decent light. Especially since he was running one plant under it in a 4×4 tent.

Maybe next time support others instead of throwing shade. Continue to help the community, not dis others who, by your own admission, are still some/one of the best, most successful growers online.

Keep up the great videos. Much Love.
