What’s the #1 Cannabis Stock to Own in 2025? Here’s Who | Trade to Black

📈 On our latest Trade To Black podcast, host Shadd Dales puts a fresh question on the table for cannabis investors: If you had to buy just one U.S. cannabis stock right now — is it Trulieve or Green Thumb Industries?

This isn’t about hype. It’s about helping investors think clearly at a time when capital is tight, reform is stalled, and Q1 2025 earnings are revealing who’s actually executing.

Trulieve came in strong on EBITDA and cash — but it’s still tied heavily to Florida, where adult-use failed to pass. Green Thumb, meanwhile, is playing the long game: diversified, free cash flow positive, and not chasing headlines.

Shadd breaks down the latest numbers, market positioning, and risk profiles — and shares which name looks like the smarter bet heading into the back half of 2025.

If you care about fundamentals and reform tailwinds, this is a conversation worth tuning in for.

    How about Tilray?

  2. @ryanporter1819 on July 30, 2025 at 1:54 pm

I’m waiting for MSOS to go under $2.00, so i can double my position in MSOS and be in a much better dollar cost average scenario. I have confidence in Dan Ahren’s management and the cost is per share much more affordable. Once i do that, i might get into Trulieve, GTI, Curaleaf.

  3. @darcoln3208 on July 30, 2025 at 1:56 pm

GTI has a strong presence in Pennsylvania, which might vote on recreational this year.

Florida will always be a hard state to legalize due to the 60% voting threshold.

I would buy Green Thumb however I live in Fort Lauderdale near the Truelieve new store coming up.
I buy stocks on SoFi and they don’t have any of these options to buy so I have to stay with VFF.

I’d buy curaleaf. boris is a better ceo than the other two, hands down. I’ve got all of em, stock wise, but I’ve got my favorite.

  11. @RedSphericalUFO on July 30, 2025 at 2:03 pm

Until the fed government comes on board it is a pretty risky proposition

    Curaleaf

    Both & CRLBF…

  14. @weareone4931 on July 30, 2025 at 2:14 pm

Trulieve is crap that tried to monopolize the cannabis industry here in Florida an we did fall for this so that is why cannabis is not recreational here in Florida as of yet until these in the cannabis industry get there act right it will not go recreational an I don’t care about how much Morgan & Morgan law firm backs cannabis until we the people can grow our own cannabis and not have to rely upon the cannabis companies for 100% of mostly crap cannabis that’s way over priced i can get much better cannabis products through the black market at a cheaper price than the cannabis industry’s market until trulieve gets there crap right my vote will stay no on cannabis requisition use here in Florida

    Love the contentious content Shadd!

GTI for the US, TLRY for the Canadian LPs.

  16. @theirishman282 on July 30, 2025 at 2:15 pm

    CGC by a million

  17. @Miami305Nights on July 30, 2025 at 2:16 pm

JUSHI is my pick because when TCNNF acquires them to gain a nice footprint with seed to sale in multiple limited license States up North they will have a nice footprint along the whole East Coast and I’ll be one happy camper 😉👍

  18. @edblunt331 on July 30, 2025 at 2:17 pm

Where would Trulieve be with the money they spent to bring adult use cannabis to Florida? Let’s say they didn’t spend it and had it in the revenue column. Pathetic play by Shad, creating division in a very unstable narrative is petty and immature.

  19. @Houseofperry on July 30, 2025 at 2:17 pm

Curaleaf has the most upside and already established in several markets. If it gets rescheduled, they are going to be in the fastlane.

  20. @barbazzallc on July 30, 2025 at 2:18 pm

Why not own both? I do.

  21. @TwitchingLima on July 30, 2025 at 2:18 pm

The wildcard for value is .88 Curaleaf if they can optimize. With reform, Cura could easily go 6x and get to 5 bucks easier than GTI going to $30

  22. @richardstreng3345 on July 30, 2025 at 2:18 pm

Shadd…your boy, the Felon isn’t going to do anything with cannabis…you got FOOLED!!!

  23. @TwitchingLima on July 30, 2025 at 2:20 pm

GTI is priced about 25 percent higher though, reflecting a little more strength ($5.25 vs $4.12) so I would say equal value. I am loaded with Trulieve

How does a company sale weed, you can get stock, make millions of dollars. It’s still illegal. And I can’t smoke it. I can’t grow. I can’t sale! Bullshit! Unconstitutional!!!

You and your co host Anthony depressing the living shit of your audience keep on bringing on the loser US MOS, and larger Canadian LP on your shows. We are all sick and tired of heard excuses blaming on the regulators. After so many years, those companies never able to turn into profitable. The one company you recommend you to provide coverage is Auxly. They are the shining star who never gets credits and nobody talks about them in the media. Everybody loves winners, nobody likes losers. US cannabis is dead for at least 3 1/2 years

  34. @xBROKENx5150x on July 30, 2025 at 2:44 pm

I live in Florida, and i REFUSE to shop @ trulieve! Their bud SUCKS! It’s ALWAYS dry as hell. And their concentrate is OVERPRICED AF. GTI has WAY better & fresh flower and a MUCH better price point on their concentrate’s! Also i have voted DOWN the recreational cannabis bill EVERY TIME! ALL WE WANT IS HOME GROWING ALLOWANCE! Do that & i bet it passes with 70 % or more! But instead trulieve TRIED TO MONOPOLIZE FLORIDA! So with that i absolutely REFUSE to give that company ANY of my $! But im just some random ASSHOLE!

  35. @Cookie222 on July 30, 2025 at 2:44 pm

Trulieve is my pick. 62% Margins should only get better and with the $329 Million cash on hand, they can pick up other companies on the cheap, when they are ready to expand.

  36. @jmantkd87 on July 30, 2025 at 2:45 pm

About about Canada? Tilray is well positioned to be a top 3 pick as well
