Medical marijuana users risk losing cards under new Florida law

Nearly one million people in Florida have prescriptions to buy medical marijuana, but under a new law, patients who violate the state’s “Drug Abuse Prevention and Control” laws could lose their medical marijuana cards temporarily or permanently.

WESH 2’s Greg Fox has the latest on the new law that went into effect this month at the link below.

Letting politicians regulate your life down to the finite details….Republicans used to be about smaller government.

  5. @philwoolfson4451 on October 20, 2025 at 5:32 pm

Republicans ned to deschedule and legalize if they want to hold power. It’s a slim margin.

Card is a privilege? Tell that to the medical patient with ms, missing organs, can’t keep food down, and runs constant fevers in between surgeries 😂. She earned the card and funded your big pharma the whole way 👌

    No Grow – Vote NO

  12. @Seashells-c2v on October 20, 2025 at 5:43 pm

    Vote yes on amendment 2

  13. @meroinheroin on October 20, 2025 at 5:44 pm

Gonna vote NO every time until you’re allowed to grow ur own plants and until the state makes it easier to for working class people to get dispensary licenses so there’s competition.
Most of you guys arguing for legalization aren’t even going to shop at a dispensary when the price increases from $25 for a Q to $90. Y’all are just gonna make things worse for patients who actually need it by trying to pass rec in its current state. Trulieve sponsored the last legalization bill and their CEO just paid 50k to be at a Trump dinner.
If you’re a progressive, you should vote no. If you’re a conservative, you should vote no. They only people voting yes should be industry shareholders but they’re spending millions on fooling you guys.

Soooooo be good or we’ll take your medicine. Oh yeah and dont forget the legal Marijuana companies have a monopoly on legal Marijuana and dont like competition either.

  18. @BrianRussellMusic on October 20, 2025 at 5:51 pm

So, can we put people on the alcohol abuse drug for violations? Make it illegal for them to buy or consume alcohol?

  19. @anakinskywalker6666 on October 20, 2025 at 5:51 pm

I wish they would make recreational Marijuana legal that’d be better than buying from a "plug" as they call them because who’s to say that the "plug" doesn’t lace the weed with something like fetinal

  20. @itisfine4now on October 20, 2025 at 5:54 pm

My son received a recommendation in writing from the VA to use marijuana for PTSD. The VA is a federal entity who considers marijuana to be a class 1 controlled substance.

  21. @Seashells-c2v on October 20, 2025 at 5:57 pm

Big pharma is obviously the opposing party as always trying to take first place. But it won’t happen, because we have people that have needs for medical purposes.Seems like the budget cuts are also at play.

  22. @BigBoyLarry on October 20, 2025 at 5:58 pm

The one I want fixed is the right to buy a gun (protected by the 2nd amendment) despite having a medical marijuana card. The issue is at a Federal level with the ATF; so until those laws are changed, you can’t purchase a gun! Now that’s a very specific contradiction to the Constitution !

  23. @lawrencestone2596 on October 20, 2025 at 5:59 pm

I mean are you people stupid and you don’t realize you just said all of that f****** 5 minutes ago

  25. @mailelouie658 on October 20, 2025 at 6:01 pm

As usual Florida grifting of FloridaMan and FliridaWoman’s ignorance. Remember their campaign was paid for with illegal money that was supposed to be paid back to the State from Cenetene. Instead a part of it was funneled into DeSatan’s “thigh” wife’s coffers to fund against the measure to legalize medical marijuana on the ballot claiming marijuana wasn’t BAD for you BUT by voting for legalizing“recreational” marijuana was putting ALL profits from all sales into only ONE company (Thrive). A monopoly. The state fell for that, they’ll fall in line with this. Remember Florida is the canary in the coal mine for the rest of America

  26. @Adamtherealboss on October 20, 2025 at 6:01 pm

Hemp is weed. Only the dispensary lobby will try to sell you othereise!

  27. @lawrencestone2596 on October 20, 2025 at 6:02 pm

But you gave my license to sell drugs not marijuana

  28. @Haha123Ha-i8o on October 20, 2025 at 6:03 pm

Let’s be clear though I do not want to be driving around people that are high as a kite.

  36. @g.s777 on October 20, 2025 at 6:13 pm

Yeah and the pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens are paying money to fight against medical cannabis in Florida so now they passed a law that if you have certain drug offenses your license could be taken away. They are trying to get people back on opioids and amphetamines and benzodiazepines because a lot of people including me stopped taking Percocet and Xanax and Adderall. Ever since I got my medical cannabis license i haven’t used anything only smoke medical cannabis and use kratom also. My thing is that I have a past charge and I don’t know if they could take it away hopefully it’s not retroactive.

  37. @Norm100ful on October 20, 2025 at 6:14 pm

Morgan is the greedy lawyer who convinced the public giving out marijuana is a good thing. He gets richer. Both selling and litigating defending users from the accident claims by people injured or killed by a user.

  38. @lawrencestone2596 on October 20, 2025 at 6:14 pm

    The real drug dealers

  39. @chrisnixon9752 on October 20, 2025 at 6:14 pm

Republican control for 30 years and all we get is more corporate power, less rights, more bans and the destruction of our environment. Thanks for all the freedom.

  40. @BaltimoresBerzerker on October 20, 2025 at 6:16 pm

We don’t need the government, big pharma, or the cannabis monopolies help, guidance, or even their permission as history shows. People would prefer to grow their own and / or procure through small personal establishments/ distributors. Something similar to microbreweries, where folks can get high-quality grown in smaller batches with more tlc. The current legal model sucks.

  41. @sibley1331 on October 20, 2025 at 6:17 pm

For 40 years i have never needed a card to smoke weed.

  42. @TheSafeJourney on October 20, 2025 at 6:17 pm

  46. @whiteowl8703 on October 20, 2025 at 6:23 pm

When in the F did we start using medication as a means to punish people. Wow. 🤯

  47. @billyjoe3014 on October 20, 2025 at 6:24 pm

Im not a citizen of Florida but can I still get a card

  48. @davidhart7824 on October 20, 2025 at 6:24 pm

Why is a "medical" card for cannabis considered a "privilege"
Is a prescription for hydrocodone or insulin also considered a "privilege" 🤔

  49. @coachchopper on October 20, 2025 at 6:24 pm

Pick another fight Ron your trying to be our President in the future making this fight will not help you with that run. Pay more attention to what the voters want your career is in their hands
