U.S. Senator from Oregon Ron Wyden tweeted, “We can’t address our country’s racial inequality crisis without ending the outdated, dangerous war on drugs and its disproportionate impact on Black and Brown Americans. @SenSchumer @SenBooker and I are going to introduce legislation to do just that.”

He retweeted the contents of the reporting from Tom Angell at the Marijuana Moment – shout out to them. Marijuana legalization news for 2021!

Prospects for passing legislation that would make it easier for marijuana businesses to access banking rise significantly with Democrats in control of the Senate. The SAFE Banking Act enjoys broad bipartisan support: It passed the House with support from nearly half of the chamber’s Republicans on board, and five GOP senators co-sponsored the bill in the last Congress. But McConnell’s reluctance to bring any marijuana bills to the floor for a vote hamstrung its ability to advance.

  10. Megan Peoples on June 2, 2021 at 7:52 pm

    I hope they legalize it.

The majority of states do have legalized cannnibis. You’re wrong.
    You’re meaning recreational.
Even then it’s not fully legal either because only few people can profit from it.

  18. Mike N on June 2, 2021 at 7:59 pm

We are getting a dumber society. People basically get themselves trapped in debt and lay around and smoke pot. No worry. The government will take care of them.

β€œIn that environment, I think, MORE fails, and then they go back to piecemeal legislation around cannabis,” said John Hudak, an expert on cannabis policy at The Brookings Institution. β€œOr they start to fold parts of MORE into a bigger criminal justice racial justice policing piece of legislation β€” that, I think, is probably the smart way to do it.”

    They discuss thing to death!

  33. Conspiracy Theory on June 2, 2021 at 8:21 pm

I’m for legalization but it doesn’t just effect ppl of color Im white as an old pile of dog shit and my ass got caught with a joint and went straight to jail. Not everything is race related sorry to break the news.

  34. Richard Rice on June 2, 2021 at 8:21 pm

Remember in 2018 when house democrats ran on fixing healthcare. What are they doing today?…obsessing over a man that is no longer in office. They have no intention of doing anything. Every "promise" makes a good campaign issue every 2 years. Actually doing something means there wont be any issues to run on at campaign time

  35. M King on June 2, 2021 at 8:22 pm

Recreational and 3 plants per person for consumption in Indiana would be great!

    I love it!!!

  39. James Monroe on June 2, 2021 at 8:27 pm

Schumer has never accomplished anything in his entire career. Nothing worse in congress when you have a people making decisions when they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. This entire democratic congress is a mess.

  40. Chris Molloy on June 2, 2021 at 8:29 pm

    😎

  41. Tim Page on June 2, 2021 at 8:29 pm

At least Trump pardoned John Knock. The guy was serving 2 life sentences plus 20 years for trafficking in cannnibis.
    A non-violent offender.
Guess his race? Thats right people he’s Caucasian. Sick of this shit only people of color are wrongly sentenced for cannnibis.
    Bullshit.

Trump pardoned 9 cannnibis non-violent offenders serving life.

  42. Felipe Medina on June 2, 2021 at 8:31 pm

I believe it would be possible around mid term elections. Not just yet. Also, Mitch McConnell stands against it. So if he doesnt pass it through it wont happen. Corona virus needs to be gone before they push it through the floor to get passed smoothly

  43. Bonita Elmore on June 2, 2021 at 8:31 pm

How does efect the rules for drug testing at pain clinics

  44. Richard Smith on June 2, 2021 at 8:32 pm

    Nahh
I can see them running in the opposite direction and keeping it on the list with heroin…
You can’t make money off cannabis as the government if it’s legal..!

  45. jarrod mccarty on June 2, 2021 at 8:32 pm

If only my state would vote Mitch out. Kentucky will never get anything done with him in charge. Thinking about going Left next time just for that sweet Marry Jane if nothing happens this year or the next.

  46. Joshua Wright on June 2, 2021 at 8:33 pm

It could be done by executive order at any time if one wanted to

  47. Robert Davis on June 2, 2021 at 8:33 pm

Its so sad you had to block out a picture of a great president……

  48. buddy tipton on June 2, 2021 at 8:34 pm

Well, keep watching the show. It’s not happen yet. Only Kamal Harris can smoke it legally

  49. Dewayne Boswell on June 2, 2021 at 8:34 pm

We all know that the State has to agree to legalize it. Take KY for example. They would fight it to the bitter end, to keep legal weed OUT of KY, no matter what the House and the Senate say. What i want more than anything, is to eat my words…..by seeing recreational marijuana here in this state.

  50. Shone Carter on June 2, 2021 at 8:37 pm

Is that a pixelated Abe Lincoln behind you or did you blur it out for some reason LOL
