I sort of miss the outs format they used to have… when it’s timed it’s impossible live to watch every ball because they have to hustle so much and it’s still in the air when the next pitch comes. Like there are times when absolute bombs can’t be appreciated fully because half the stadium missed it.

    We want Chris Berman back!

  11. David Rennicke on July 22, 2021 at 9:05 pm

The reason why the baseballs traveled soooooo far, Denver = thin air.

  12. Jason Smith on July 22, 2021 at 9:05 pm

I like the old format better.

  13. Chris Marston on July 22, 2021 at 9:07 pm

  16. Aleph on July 22, 2021 at 9:13 pm

This was a terrible broadcast, guys. You can’t even give us the distances in real time? I don’t remember y’all ever having this issue before even with the new format. Not happy with the quality of last night’s show.

  21. i am a red sox fan but it’s JARREN DURAN SZN on July 22, 2021 at 9:18 pm

Alonso really just had a re-Pete performance of 2019, what a stud.

  22. Breaker_5639 on July 22, 2021 at 9:18 pm

*This video description*: -β€œAll homers were 500+ ft”

Me: -thanks MLB, that helped us sooo much 😐😐😐😐

  23. no name on July 22, 2021 at 9:19 pm

Alonso was great, but the thrower was also great.

  24. Moe Moe on July 22, 2021 at 9:20 pm

Why is hall of famer Aron judge not participating in the derby? he only participated in his rookie season, and he absolutely destroyed the competition, winning every round without even needing the bonus time, and he also broke the record for the Stat cast Era by hitting a 513 foot bomb that’s still going, that’s way more impressive than hitting 520 feet in Denver with the thin air

  25. Go Pro on July 22, 2021 at 9:20 pm

Olson hit some bigger moon shots than Ohtani but let’s ignore him , thanks MLB.

  27. Ms. Lewdness on July 22, 2021 at 9:21 pm

Pete Alonso wrecked those baseballs into next week.

  28. Breaker_5639 on July 22, 2021 at 9:21 pm

WHAT IS WRONG WITH @MLB TO NOT SHOW THE DISTANCES, ALSO THE ESPN2 BROADCAST OF β€œstat cast” STILL….DIDNT…EVEN….SHOW….THE….DISTANCES

AND THIS WAS THE BEST HR DERBY AND WHERE THE BALLS WOULD TRAVEL THE FURTHEST,,,,SO DISAPPOINTING

  29. Luke Ward on July 22, 2021 at 9:23 pm

i wish espn showed us the distances πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

  30. Scott Boxer on July 22, 2021 at 9:23 pm

They did a god awful job at actually showing how far the balls were going. This had to of been the worst broadcast of the home run derby yet and they chose to blow it in the one place where they were regularly hitting the balls 480+ feet

  31. Markus Engfelt on July 22, 2021 at 9:24 pm

    Whats that fence?

  32. Carlos Rivera on July 22, 2021 at 9:29 pm

Also, a Pitcher!, SHOHEI OHTANI…competed in Home Run Derby! N did very well…Awesome!😳…truly! Awesome!πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

    Go Blue Jays!!!

  35. Evan Shade on July 22, 2021 at 9:31 pm

I’m sorry but ESPN just doesn’t cover baseball well. They didn’t even show the distances as they were being hit. I know they have the statcast edition on ESPN 2 but I wanna watch the regular broadcast and still see how far they’re going.

  36. Blia Yang on July 22, 2021 at 9:33 pm

Shohei hit *6 of the 15 500+ ft home runs* recorded that night – a record high. That’s 40% of the 500+ footers with 7 other contestants in play. That’s just how he hits: power and authority!

  37. ή§ Ο‰Ξ”ΩΞž β€’ ΩŠΞ™Ξ”Ξ½Ξžή§ on July 22, 2021 at 9:34 pm

Poor job at adding the distance πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

All-star is outdated🀣That’s so lame.πŸ‘΄πŸ»πŸ€ Star quality…attractive aura…NFL>MLB isΒ already past its prime. star tatis is dominican⭐️Otani is Japanese.(popular? media hype)

  39. Adg 2407 on July 22, 2021 at 9:37 pm

    3-0 count and I still hit a..

  40. Diego Munoz on July 22, 2021 at 9:39 pm

I swear Shohei’s pitcher was trying to strike him out, not give him pitches to hit

  41. marspol on July 22, 2021 at 9:39 pm

Why didnt it show the distance

  42. Thicker Constrictor on July 22, 2021 at 9:40 pm

it would have been nice if we could have actually seen where some of the balls landed for longer than a split second and actually gotten to see how far they were. I like the new format because it adds a lot more intensity and drama but they have to figure out a way for us to be able to actually see the home runs. I mean that’s for me at least most of the fun. Watching to see how far these balls are going and the way it is right now it’s just not possible. It all goes too quickly as soon as the ball is about to land another one’s going out in the camera switches. Doesn’t give anyone watching the time to register what they are seeing.

  43. Michael Connolly on July 22, 2021 at 9:40 pm

how far was the farthest home run???

  44. Jova Bova on July 22, 2021 at 9:43 pm

  49. Duce_ 22 on July 22, 2021 at 9:46 pm

I like Alonso’s confidence that makes him feel like he is the best power hitter in the world but the fact of the matter is that he is not the best power hitter in the world. He is the best home run derby constestant in the world

  50. Dodger Bazeball on July 22, 2021 at 9:47 pm

Poor salvy. he did so damn good in fact he got more than anyone else besides Pete excluding the tie breaker round between Soto and shohei.
