THE FUTURE OF CANNABIS IN THE CARIBBEAN
Two years after the presentation of the 2018 CARICOM report “Waiting to Exhale-Safeguarding our future through responsible socio-legal policy on Marijuana” at the CND, this years’ side event the organizers would like to share insights on progress made, regarding the public policies on cannabis and the development of a medical cannabis industry in the Caribbean region.
In this meeting we will learn about the implementation of legal medical cannabis models, and appreciate the challenges to develop inclusive policies and design business models in which also traditional cannabis cultivators can be part.
As the CARICOM report stated in its’ preface , are there signs we are ‘moving away from the narrow constraints of medical marijuana, to embrace notions of social justice, human rights, economics, regional hegemony and their right to health’?
