My view on Aurora Canabis
As my article on Canopy Growth spurred so much interest even if the bulls might not have liked it I am happy to hear that nothing I said was wrong and that I only omitted the international growth part from my analysis. My take is that in the long term you can have as much growth as you want but shareholders might not see much benefit as the business model is not rewarding to them. Given the interest I decided to dig into some other marijuana stocks to see whether I’ll find something better. Let’s start with Aurora Canabis (ABC).
Aurora Canabis
The first thing I notice when going to ABC’s investor relation page is the constant news flow where everyday something happens.

I think the idea here is to realize at the probability these pot stocks are going to take another run at the sky as the legalization process in Canada begins stirring the attention of investors again in another month or two. Even at today’s prices the companies that are getting all the attention could see a 200-250% growth. How long they will hold top price is anyone’s guess. I’ll get out before I get greedy. Probably be worth another look at in 3-5 years.

I have shares in Aurora and I have to say I’m running out of patience with this company. Every other company is in the green on a daily basis and Aurora is steady in the red. At this point I’m ready to take a loss and just get away from this company all together.

Which stock is better aurora u.s or aurora canada?

  12. Crypto and stocks on December 29, 2021 at 5:57 pm

I think dilution is a must at the beginning. Debt is not good for the company.
I will be making a video on the video you made

Thank you Sven, for the insightful information. As a result of your video I have realigned my exit strategy. I hope that a NASDQ listing and favorable outcome on bill C-45 June 7th drive the hype train. I agree 100% dilution is the death nail for us retail investors.

LOL canopy growth is mad at your honest review??? I hope they don’t try to intimidate you to give them a good review if you don’t think they deserve it. Thanks for your honest reviews πŸ˜€

I’ve been cover call trading this stock and managed to scale down my per share price to the 2 dollar range which I’m comfortable with. I agree it’s a risky play.

  27. Dane Martin-Falla on December 29, 2021 at 6:20 pm

Hi Sven, are you still planning on posting a video about your phone call with Canopy’s investor relations people? I would be interested in hearing what they had to say!

  28. Chris Goldsmith on December 29, 2021 at 6:21 pm

There’s no unique selling point here. People can grow it themselves. It’s a fad stock, the diluting share holders and debentures should be a warning. I’m afraid it will go the same way as cryptos, Tesla etc.

  29. MMM MMM on December 29, 2021 at 6:21 pm

Hi Sven, just regarding your comment halfway through the vid, it’s a good point, why not just take a loan for financing as a cleaner way to facilitate things….I think the answer is that most likely members of the company are buying into their own shares and profiting off that growth as well, then with shares there’s no yield payments…I’m a beginner with this stuff this is what I’m thinking, please tell me if I’m wrong

  30. hodoprime on December 29, 2021 at 6:21 pm

Thanks for the analysis. I’ve been avoiding cannabis stocks since governments have not decided yet where the moat will be in the long-term. They can go back to a pro-prescription drug company moat or they can relax laws completely and let anyone grow it. Both will kill off any profit margin these cannabis companies would have had.

  31. Htr Lo on December 29, 2021 at 6:22 pm

You ask the question, "Why don’t they get a loan instead of taking on the convertible debenture from a finance firm." You have a PHD and you don’t know the answer to this question?

  32. Htr Lo on December 29, 2021 at 6:25 pm

These are the type of things that you should consider. "What is considered a high debt-to-equity ratio differs depending on the industry, because some industries tend to utilize more debt financing than others. A ratio below 40% for mid-cap stocks is considered as financially healthy, as a rule of thumb. The good news for investors is that Aurora Cannabis has virtually no debt. This means it has been running its business utilising funding from primarily its equity capital, which is rather impressive. Investors’ risk associated with debt is virtually non-existent with ACB, and the company has plenty of headroom and ability to raise debt should it need to in the future."

  38. Dars von nang on December 29, 2021 at 6:36 pm

Thanks for doing this. I have no doubt that the cannabis market is huge (and in my opinion, very underestimated even on the high end of projections) and will only continue to grow, however, my biggest concern is how prevalent the black market will continue to be after legalization and how much that will effect the market price.

  39. P L on December 29, 2021 at 6:37 pm

Thank you for taking the time to make the video review on Aurora Cannabis. Would be very interest to see how the conversation with Canopy goes next week. Cheers!

Still eager to hear what you think about Cannabis Wheaton Income. If interested, try the following Excel spreadsheet that summarizes the announced plans based on information gathered from NR’s, Pr’s, Sedar and a Q&A with the president Hugo Alves. The projections are rough estimates based on the 100% execution of the CBW business plan in ~3 years (first 2 years are guesstimates) taken from these sources. The EBITDA multiple is set at 15 (inline with Tobacco industry).: https://1drv.ms/x/s!Aq8QS5ZJtWPziioLHbW8CHJwVOUW

Sven- I just re-watched our cannabis videos. What about other companies that support the business: stz Constillation Brands;Emerald Health EMHTF; Kush CO Holdings KSHB; HYYDF HEXO Corp; Origin House OH; Charletts Web. With the US Farm bill passing HEMP bill there is a big push with CBD oil..etc (Looking to stock wallmart and costco shelves). Former speaker of the house Baehner is involved with a Cannabis investment company
