How Thailand went from war on drugs to cannabis curries – BBC News

Thailand now has one of the world’s most liberal marijuana regimes.

The country legalised cultivating and consuming cannabis in June, reversing a hard-line approach of long prison sentences or even the death penalty for drug offences.

The regime has sparked off a boom in weed-related businesses hoping to cash in on a new customer base.

The BBC’s South East Asia correspondent Jonathan Head reports on what’s behind the dramatic change.

There’s different strength of weed and some can literally blow your head off terrible paranoia etc. So if legalised you can choose the milder ones if you want instead of Russian roulette off some random scrubbbers.

I think cannabis should be legal. It is a mild euphoric, a mild sedative, a pain reliever & not addictive. We women were not allowed to smoke, but you can make a tea from it.

  19. black bird on June 28, 2022 at 1:57 am

The world will legalize weed and a certain element of detachment from this reality will take a further step back. Just like in prisons world wide, there must be some inflow of drugs to keep the prisoners docile. Opening up the drug trade, broadening the use of cannabis makes people happier, less apt to take up arms and disagree, and it makes them willing to submit to the dominant paradigm.

Meanwhile, British folks are in PRISON in the UK!
    Oh yeah… AND Thailand.

When are drugs going to be decriminalised in a sensible manner in all countries?

When are Pardons going to be granted and criminal records deleted?
