THC induced hyperemesis syndrome

Cannabis is one of the most commonly abused drugs worldwide. Over the past decade, marijuana has remained the most commonly used illicit substance with close to 50% of high school seniors admitting use at some time[1]. It is estimated that each year 2.6 million individuals in the USA become new users and most are younger than 19 years of age.

The long-term and short-term toxicity of cannabis abuse is associated with pathological and behavioural effects. However, cannabis has also been suggested to have therapeutic properties with anticonvulsive, analgesic, antianxiety and anti-emetic activities. Cannabis has also been used to treat anorexia in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome[3–5]. The actions of cannabis are mediated by specific cannabinoid receptors. The first of the cannabinoid receptors-CB-1-was identified in 1990 and this finding revolutionized the study of cannabinoid biology. Since then, a multitude of roles for the endogenous cannabinoid system has been proposed. A large number of endogenous cannabinoid neurotransmitters or endocannabinoids have been identified, and the CB-1 and CB-2 cannabinoid receptors have been characterized[7]. The CB-1 receptors exert a neuromodulatory role in the central nervous system and enteric plexus[8]. Cannabinoid type 2 receptors have an immunomodulatory effect and are located on tissues such as microglia[5]. The presence of other receptors, transporters, and enzymes responsible for the synthesis or metabolism of endocannabinoids are being recognised at an extraordinary pace. Cannabinoids have a wide variety of effects on the body systems and physiologic states due to their actions on the receptors as well as direct toxic effects.

What has weed given me in life ? Failed relationships. Dependence. Withdrawals akin to that of a heroin addict. vomiting, diarrhea, loose stools, clumsiness, hot and cold flushes and nausea. Good riddance.

  6. Adam First on April 15, 2019 at 9:34 pm

this might have more to do with CHEMICAL fertilizers used to speed up and increase growth of plants.. which might remain in the plant, (even if leached properly,), and cause toxic reactions described in the video…
one REAL side-effect of cannabis, is that the human body and brain has such affinity to it, and has multiple receptors for THC and other components of cannabis.. so any REAL poisons added to it, will be readily allowed in.. escorted by the trusty cannabinoids…. so dont mix with REAL drugs.. keep it pure..

Lol cannabis increases fighting and weapon use? Nope what you speak of isn’t caused by cannabis its the illegal status. And as with any distribution of illegal drugs theres gonna be violence. It’s a given man. But look at the states where its legal weather for medical or recreational use and you’ll see a DRAMATIC DECREASE in violence associated with marijuana. Infact use of marijuana causes the exact opposite of your statement decreasing violent behavior across the board. You never hear of someone getting a little to high and straying fights or being belligerent in general. If your going to make these videos then you need to do your research and actually explain your statements as apposed to reading it off a peice of paper. Your suppose to be a doctor. A medical professional. It’s your obligation as such to give the most accurate information available backed up by research and medical study as a whole. Not from a handful of vague somewhat if not obvious bias on the subject. Look I dont use cannabis but I’m well aware of its uses its side effects, positives and negatives that come along with it. Why? Because I’ve made it my business to proactively research the subject in the widest spectrum of information I can get my hands on. If for no other reason than to correct false statements and accusations that can give marijuana a bad name. 90% of the bs people hear is scare tactics from the folks who have that bias. And its usually racially driven or financially driven having nothing to do with the actual wellbeing of the people.

The doctor should be warning us about what could happen if you don’t stop smoking pot after you get these symptoms. It can cause Kidney failure!

  9. justin76bmw on April 15, 2019 at 9:35 pm

Smoke dabs, keep it to a minimum and it will go away. Did for me. I think its an allergy to some element in the plant. But I’m no doctor, I just live with it.

Well I did 4 bong rips I was really high and for some reason I decided to do like 50 sit ups in a row and a bunch of push ups and I just couldn’t stop and then my heart started to hurt super bad it felt like something was crushing my chest and I could barley breath and I was like seeing red dots and I was stumbling around and almost passed out in my room I probably would’ve died and at the hospital my heart rate was 150 beats per minute which is like two beats a second and 150 is deadly it turned out I had a super bad anxiety attack and my heart freaked out from and I was extremely high it was the scariest night ever

  14. artiste soundbox on April 15, 2019 at 9:44 pm

I’m starting to suspect that it’s being caused by strains that have a high Caryophyllene terpene percentage. And I found that miralax relieves the discomfort. Caryophyllene is kind of dry and may also be the cause of cotton mouth who knows.

  15. Tanker One on April 15, 2019 at 9:45 pm

The doctor said I may have it….I have stomach pain….no nausea though in the morning ….no throwing up either. Just stomach pain…they gave me proton pump inhibitors and my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore, I just have a burning feeling in my stomach when it’s empty and goes away when I eat. He is checking me for h pylori …think that’s how it’s spelt. I feel better when I take a warm shower but my wife had gastritis and warm showers helped her as well….FYI she does not smoke. Any thoughts from doctors that may see this or the individual making this video?

  22. Delta Joe on April 15, 2019 at 9:57 pm

Really pot shouldn’t be over about 25 % THC there’s no need for it. These dabs that are 90% THC that’s just Overkill … Weed was never that strong back in the day , it wasn’t meant to be that powerful . Just like how fentanyl was not supposed to be used outside of a hospital setting .

So now after 25yrs of chronic chronic smoking I know the reason for my problem. Drs have literally laughed at me about the hot shower relief.. Im on day 2 of cold turkey quitting. I feel more stoned without smoking than I have in yrs of heavy smoking that gas. Im not turning back this time. I have a real reason to stop. I hate puking til the green bile comes and chugging water just to have something to puke.

This is reefer madness… Soft diagnoses like hyperemesis and cannabis use disorder are designed by market services companies, who dictate the climate in healthcare markets. No doubt pharm companies pay for that, and probably paid for this his pink tie.

I think because when you have marijuana and it give you all the mental negative affects it makes your heart beat race faster making your feet cold and hand by showering with hot water in can help relax some symptoms.

  34. Thomas Sutherland on April 15, 2019 at 10:09 pm

What could it be, if someone has all the same symptom, but doesn’t use Cannabis. as my wife suffers from all of these symptoms and also has the same relief during hot shower. she has had this since her gastric sleeve over 2 years ago. 7 specialist and no answer. her’s also comes instantly with certain foods.

Capsacin on your stomach! Your welcome

  36. Home Slice on April 15, 2019 at 10:10 pm

My symptoms are not that severe but for the first two days. After I quit smoking after 6 years of getting high every day I was super manic and angry and hyper! My heart was racing at 80 bpm even while just sitting down, even after 10 minutes of sitting there. Hot flashes. Hacking and dry coughing. Diarrhea and sore muscles.

Today I am lethargic as hell. No energy today. I should be alright in a couple of weeks. I just have to take it easy until then.

    Ill be alright.

  37. Jorge Solis on April 15, 2019 at 10:13 pm

Every minute is a record broken since I never took a break. It’s been 3 days not smoking & I DO feel better but I’m super worried to haul on a spliff because holly shiznits!!! the pain… the belly pain man is f* atrocious… I dont know WTF but even though I cured skin cancer(twice) in others I feel jiffed THIS ISN"T OK :/
Cannabis is the only Love in my life besides my dog & cat… it’s like being betrayed by the one I LOVE… I’m not sure what to think or if I can smoke again… I just don’t know.

Yeah it’s real but it’s not the THC or weed in any other way than the pesticides. I get it. Azadirachtin poisoning. Doesn’t happen with street weed. Delibirate misinformation.

  44. Isaiah Allan on April 15, 2019 at 10:20 pm

    its from Neem!!!!!!!!Not weed

  45. Henry Thewrench on April 15, 2019 at 10:21 pm

I just bought a half oz at weed store. It is high quality but unsmokable, so harsh it taste like poison. Weed store is no help, promising it is safe. One toke causes a burn spot in the lungs and an itchy cough for days. It is toxic. Poison, they sold me poison.

CHS is a reaction to Synthetic AZADIRACHTIN in neem oil.

  47. Becca Turcotte on April 15, 2019 at 10:24 pm

Anyone know if its possible to have this syndrome with only stomach pain, extreme weight loss and a history of marijuana? I have NO cyclic vomiting and my nausea is neurological (confirmed by my specialists), when it isnt caused by that it can be fixed by eating a few tums. I also get more nausea from showering, I have never got any kind of relief.
I got this diagnosis, and to me it seems from my symptoms compared to the list of characteristic symptoms that its off. I smoke enough weed to cause this problem definitely, but im very confused on the signs/symptoms.
    Anyone’s experience would be appreciated

  48. Timothy Linton on April 15, 2019 at 10:24 pm

I’ve had it for years and I’ve tried everything to get around quitting. No matter how much I reduce what I smoke, the vomiting comes back eventually
