What does the Bible say about Marijuana / Weed / Cannabis / Pot? Is it okay?

Marijuana is becoming more and more popular in our culture, and with its increased prominence and possible legalization, it’s something we get asked about quite a bit.

In this video, John Schoenheit gives a Biblical Perspective on how we should treat Marijuana and whether the Bible say it’s ok to use it.

I was going to go into a big old drawn out question and explanation but you look to be like a smart guy let’s see what the Bible says about coffee an addictive alkaloid that affects the central nervous system part of the brain. You said it yourself we shouldn’t do things that alter our mind for pleasure but yet you find yourself at a coffee shop every morning don’t you just because one isn’t socially accepted and the other is. If God feels one way about marijuana he’s going to feel the same way about coffee. Don’t let social acceptance dictate your way of life. If that were the case I don’t think Jesus would have ever went to the cross.

it said right after the verse about the ground being cursed that it was to make food hard to grow for just the pre-flood era. G-d very spercifically said the curse was over after the flood. and thorns! poison? Cannabis doesn’t have thorns or poisen

We may be staring at a 9 but he also may be looking at a 6 we have to see the opposites to find out the way people think including yourself. What may be good for one may not be good for the other.

I’m gonna go ahead and throw this in, my life has never been a smooth one from physical and mental abuse to depression and anxiety, my goal in life was to leave my home as soon as I can and never look back. After I learned about cannabis and started smoking it I found new found love and forgiveness for my family same time a sense of acceptance and just understanding whixh helped me so much. And I truly believe it is God given and wholes some purpose

I’ve had the complete opposite experience. Without the plants God placed here I’d be crippled up, unable to serve him. My mind is not altered by this one, other than being more quiet and focused on Jesus…

I’m right in the middle of this. Here, searching YouTube content on this topic. Believing to be born again, yet a smoker. Ugh! I have rationalized it. And then there is truth. Good video!

God wants us to preach the gospel! Seek and save the lost but we can’t do that by smoking weed cause it makes you lazy and dependent on it rather than Holy Spirit

Most weed grown and smoked these days is that far from what was and is found in nature high thc and little to no cbd I suppose you can justify anything if it’s something you want to do but I have for the first time in 22 years been of this drug for a bit and feel like I’ve woke out of a comma I feel closer to God and don’t know why I would want to bullshit myself anymore with all the cliche crap I fooled myself with for years I’ve got autism and not saying I don’t think it has played its part in helping at times but now feel I want to experience life and the lord with a straight head from now on that’s the choice I’ve made I don’t judge anyone else for what they do all is I can say is the people around me get a lot better me now than they have for along time even though at times I feel more anxious I definitely feel so much more alive as opposed to just existing. Love to all amen

Everyone in this comment section has it wrong. How can you smoke weed recreationally if it’s against the law in your state? God says to obey your authority. Hypocritical Christians all in this chat I tell ya.

  14. Kareeme Walley on May 11, 2019 at 6:43 pm

But the method he speaks of is hybridization and infusion of the plants not naturally using one herb or flower for its natural singular affect but intentionally infusing it and creating a cocktail of other naturally occuring mind altering plants then yes you are over doing the affects of each individual mind altering plant that you use, creating an infusion of highs that isnt naturally occurring they would become drunk on power.

  15. daisy girl on May 11, 2019 at 6:44 pm

What about herbal teas? I drink them daily. Is that bad?

  16. Linda Johnson on May 11, 2019 at 6:45 pm

Drunk is a state of the mind…

  17. TheREALkeep00 on May 11, 2019 at 6:45 pm

Even one drink alters body and brain chemistry (except people with extremely highly tolerances). So if your a Christian that believes recreational or social marijuana use is explicitly a sin then by your own reasoning no alcohol use is acceptable.

They used to call it the love drug. All the hippies getting stoned and loving each other (fornication). They believed the lie.
I used to smoke when my children were young. You can’t give children the proper love and nurturing they need, through glazed over and bleary eyes, it just dosen’t work. They can probably see the demons hanging off your back, not a good visual.
We are commanded to bring forth a Holy Seed.
Yahweh have mercy on us all.

  24. James Simpson on May 11, 2019 at 6:53 pm

being drunk or high on processed narcotics is not the same as being stonned. it makes you happy yes, and if you us to much with little tolorence you’re not alert, but it isnt much different then being half asleep. look at the science of it, different parts of the brain are effected. weed mainly effects your mood in a possitive way

  25. bassman619 on May 11, 2019 at 6:53 pm

Ok, I smoked pot when I was a teenager, quit then tried it again (this time vaping) when I was 50. The stuff nowadays is hugely more potent than back then. I experienced the beginnings of addiction after just 2 or 3 uses. The high potency THC is what brings the demonic experiences. Now my question is about CBD oil. Particularly the 0% THC. I found that it helps with insomnia and my carpal tunnel syndrome. What’s your take on CBD oil if it doesn’t get you high?

    Thesselonians
5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9

  32. Jed Taneo on May 11, 2019 at 7:01 pm

How about I drink alone and be drunk to make me sleep? Is it also bad?

  33. SpiritMan00 on May 11, 2019 at 7:02 pm

I used to be a heavy drinker, an alcoholic and I can say that its the worst mistake I’ve made in my life, it opens up the doors of sin and addiction, even though it felt good for a moment, I wanted more and more. I couldn’t control it. And the hangover was painful afterwards. I’ve tried weed + alcohol, and nope never again. However, when I first tried weed by itself I felt so high, relaxed, on a different level, it was a good feeling but I was afraid of it hence why I never touched it as much as alcohol which is legal by the way. At the end of the day, if its going to harm you, lead to sin and make you lose control, it will be best not to do it.

Crazy how many people refuse to see that they are making weed an idol and WORSHIPPING it instead of God….we are commanded to be sober minded. Period. What you are saying is, I don’t want to be delivered by God from my anxiety, depression, etc…I wanna be delivered by weed. Man come on. This is a problem…so annoying to see people in denial of the hold a PLANT has put on their life and walk with God.

  48. Drakkar Dragon on May 11, 2019 at 7:16 pm

The Bible bluntly says, β€œDo not get drunk…. Instead, be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).

  49. Bruce G. on May 11, 2019 at 7:17 pm

I don’t use marijuana, but did in the 60’s and 70’s when it was, for the most part, a simple weed that gave a simple buzz. I saw no harm in it and earned my degree at the same time. Of course, there were South American "strains" that were far more potent; andΒ there was hashish. I’ll just never understand why else God put this plantΒ on this earth. Β And why poppies?

  50. Andrey Marin on May 11, 2019 at 7:19 pm

I’ve been struggling with insomnia for years. I’ve taken pills but they don’t get me to sleep, well… marihuana does, actually that’s why I tried it out in first place, medicinal marijuana

there were times when I’d smoke a lot and to be honest & I didn’t know what to think because on one side, I was thinking about my future, I was visualizing my dreams, I was thinking on ways to accomplish my goals & then I said to myself: I don’t think this is wrong, it’s giving me good thoughts & makes me sleep. Last time I was high at school & I simply understand what the whole class didn’t get by the end of the period, I enjoyed so much that class & once again, positive effect

But on the other side, I was thinking of what people say about smoking marijuana, they see it so wrong & they haven’t even tried it out they’ve just heard bad stories from criminals, & they think it you smoke you will end up living in the streets, become drug adict, ruin your life…

to be honest I don’t think it’s wrong but the abuse of it is not right

what do you think about smoking to sleep?
