THC induced hyperemesis syndrome

Cannabis is one of the most commonly abused drugs worldwide. Over the past decade, marijuana has remained the most commonly used illicit substance with close to 50% of high school seniors admitting use at some time[1]. It is estimated that each year 2.6 million individuals in the USA become new users and most are younger than 19 years of age.

The long-term and short-term toxicity of cannabis abuse is associated with pathological and behavioural effects. However, cannabis has also been suggested to have therapeutic properties with anticonvulsive, analgesic, antianxiety and anti-emetic activities. Cannabis has also been used to treat anorexia in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome[3–5]. The actions of cannabis are mediated by specific cannabinoid receptors. The first of the cannabinoid receptors-CB-1-was identified in 1990 and this finding revolutionized the study of cannabinoid biology. Since then, a multitude of roles for the endogenous cannabinoid system has been proposed. A large number of endogenous cannabinoid neurotransmitters or endocannabinoids have been identified, and the CB-1 and CB-2 cannabinoid receptors have been characterized[7]. The CB-1 receptors exert a neuromodulatory role in the central nervous system and enteric plexus[8]. Cannabinoid type 2 receptors have an immunomodulatory effect and are located on tissues such as microglia[5]. The presence of other receptors, transporters, and enzymes responsible for the synthesis or metabolism of endocannabinoids are being recognised at an extraordinary pace. Cannabinoids have a wide variety of effects on the body systems and physiologic states due to their actions on the receptors as well as direct toxic effects.

Smoking anything is not good for your lungs heart body or growth especially when you are still growing I can definitely feel pulmonary issues bad from smoking lots of weed over the past year or two I stopped and I feel very different and my heart still is not right but it’s better I think you should never take big hits and smoke everyday it should be a thing you use if you need to calm down but you don’t need to use it all the time

Lol cannabis increases fighting and weapon use? Nope what you speak of isn’t caused by cannabis its the illegal status. And as with any distribution of illegal drugs theres gonna be violence. It’s a given man. But look at the states where its legal weather for medical or recreational use and you’ll see a DRAMATIC DECREASE in violence associated with marijuana. Infact use of marijuana causes the exact opposite of your statement decreasing violent behavior across the board. You never hear of someone getting a little to high and straying fights or being belligerent in general. If your going to make these videos then you need to do your research and actually explain your statements as apposed to reading it off a peice of paper. Your suppose to be a doctor. A medical professional. It’s your obligation as such to give the most accurate information available backed up by research and medical study as a whole. Not from a handful of vague somewhat if not obvious bias on the subject. Look I dont use cannabis but I’m well aware of its uses its side effects, positives and negatives that come along with it. Why? Because I’ve made it my business to proactively research the subject in the widest spectrum of information I can get my hands on. If for no other reason than to correct false statements and accusations that can give marijuana a bad name. 90% of the bs people hear is scare tactics from the folks who have that bias. And its usually racially driven or financially driven having nothing to do with the actual wellbeing of the people.

I had this recently and I haven’t slept in 8 days… I haven’t been able to keep anything down. Doctors are in such denial of this especially where I live because weed is not legal here. Zofran makes it worse, it’s a living hell.

I stopped smoking that ganja. Still throwing up. It turns out it was all the alcohol i was drinking every night. But it turns out I’m an alcoholic so I’ll blame it on the ganja. "Usually I can pound back 15 beers but one puff o that ganja and it’s cannabis hyperemesis syndrome for me"

  18. YoBoiAvocado on May 25, 2019 at 8:01 pm

This is weird. I only throw up the first time I smoke a really strong strand. If it’s weak, Or it’s the second time there’s no vomit. (Edit. Oh okay people are talking about serious pain, I just throw up a little bit like 3 times then I’m good) sorry guys

Every minute is a record broken since I never took a break. It’s been 3 days not smoking & I DO feel better but I’m super worried to haul on a spliff because holly shiznits!!! the pain… the belly pain man is f* atrocious… I dont know WTF but even though I cured skin cancer(twice) in others I feel jiffed THIS ISN"T OK :/

What has weed given me in life ? Failed relationships. Dependence. Withdrawals akin to that of a heroin addict. vomiting, diarrhea, loose stools, clumsiness, hot and cold flushes and nausea. Good riddance.

  23. al go on May 25, 2019 at 8:03 pm

So now after 25yrs of chronic chronic smoking I know the reason for my problem. Drs have literally laughed at me about the hot shower relief.. Im on day 2 of cold turkey quitting. I feel more stoned without smoking than I have in yrs of heavy smoking that gas. Im not turning back this time. I have a real reason to stop. I hate puking til the green bile comes and chugging water just to have something to puke.

My symptoms are not that severe but for the first two days. After I quit smoking after 6 years of getting high every day I was super manic and angry and hyper! My heart was racing at 80 bpm even while just sitting down, even after 10 minutes of sitting there. Hot flashes. Hacking and dry coughing. Diarrhea and sore muscles.

Today I am lethargic as hell. No energy today. I should be alright in a couple of weeks. I just have to take it easy until then.

    Ill be alright.

  38. Delta Joe on May 25, 2019 at 8:19 pm

Really pot shouldn’t be over about 25 % THC there’s no need for it. These dabs that are 90% THC that’s just Overkill … Weed was never that strong back in the day , it wasn’t meant to be that powerful . Just like how fentanyl was not supposed to be used outside of a hospital setting .

  39. Damian Damianio on May 25, 2019 at 8:20 pm

weed causes weight loss so i don’t know how they would treat anorexia with it ?? i quit for multiple reasons but one of em was because i am underweight..

  40. Thomas Sutherland on May 25, 2019 at 8:20 pm

What could it be, if someone has all the same symptom, but doesn’t use Cannabis. as my wife suffers from all of these symptoms and also has the same relief during hot shower. she has had this since her gastric sleeve over 2 years ago. 7 specialist and no answer. her’s also comes instantly with certain foods.

This is reefer madness… Soft diagnoses like hyperemesis and cannabis use disorder are designed by market services companies, who dictate the climate in healthcare markets. No doubt pharm companies pay for that, and probably paid for this his pink tie.

i need advice. i’m developing all of these symptoms and use extracts daily as treatment for ibs. my ibs was affecting my life so severely, that i was getting “attacks” weekly with pain that my doctor said is comparable to childbirth. i’ve tried everything for my ibs, countless prescriptions, otc medication, essential oils, diet changes, and every home remedy u can find on reddit but thc is the only thing that works. but these episodes of nausea and vomiting is affecting my life just as much as the ibs was. i’m at a loss idk what to do

  45. Timothy Linton on May 25, 2019 at 8:25 pm

I’ve had it for years and I’ve tried everything to get around quitting. No matter how much I reduce what I smoke, the vomiting comes back eventually

For all of you that have been diagnosed with CHS did the symptoms develop after you started using "Medically prescribed weed"? I have found in my personal experience from treating people with it, they’ve all developed the syndrome after getting "Prescribed marijuana". Every single person that had CHS have continued to use marijuana without any break and the symptoms went away within 1-2 days and they have continued to be heavy daily users. They immediately stopped using their "Prescribed marijuana" and were given Marijuana that had not been exposed to any kind of pesticides or harsh chemicals during Veg/Flower/Curing (No exposure to radiation after harvest), Mould free etc. and plants are thoroughly flushed for 2-3 weeks before harvesting. Zero difference in Organic or synthetic nutrients as well [Any common over-the-counter nutrient line]. I’m not saying this can’t happen from clean Marijuana. Some people obviously are reacting to his plant very negatively and develop the syndrome. No different than having an allergy to something. But.. Do your research. There has been an explosion in the syndrome in legalized states/Provinces. Why is that?? What is being used that is creating or Increasing this sensitivity to Cannabis?
