Clearing the Smoke on Teen Marijuana Use

Teenage marijuana users may be out of the weeds β€” at least when it comes to the likelihood of developing health problems later in life.

A new study from the University of Pittsburgh and Rutgers University found that marijuana use may not increase the risk of physical or mental health issues, such as depression, cancer and asthma, for men who regularly smoked as teens.

“What we found was a little surprising,” said lead study author Jordan Bechtold, PhD, a psychology research fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, in a press release. “There were no differences in any of the mental or physical health outcomes that we measured regardless of the amount or frequency of marijuana used during adolescence.”

Due to the recent legalization of recreational marijuana in four US states, questions about teen use have become increasingly pressing for many parents and other adults.

For anyone watching this whose under 18 (like me) this dosent mean you should start doing it (like me) people who do it may have an increased risk of cognitive problems because the white matter in your brain isn’t fully developed so if you do smoke be carful and know your doing it for the right reasons and if your addicted to the substance and you can’t really stop at least try your best to regulate yourself as best as possible because your looking for the long term benefits in life and weed is short term and in the reality we’re in short term dosent last. trust me I’m the addicted one.
