The biggest cannabis company in the world

Big Weed is already here.

The very biggest cannabis companies in the world, Canopy Growth, owns over a dozen brands (like Tweed). Based out of Canada, business is good after the legalization of recreational marijuana.

“Our goal is to be big and to be successful,” says Jordan Sinclair, the VP of communications at Canopy Growth.

That hasn’t stopped premium growers, like Mario Sherbinski, from plotting success. He runs one of the splashiest brands in the new world of legal weed. (Recreational weed became legal in his home state, California, in 2018.) His company, Sherbinskis, sells premium product.

Is there space in the legal weed economy for corporate cannabis and boutique bud?

this video is so off! Weed is not just another product maybe in your eyes it is but in reality it is not. The human race has not even scratched the surface of what cannabis can do for us. please do not continue to spread this junk. I liked your video but have the information is based on what your couple of minutes in the cannabis world and with who? perhaps you should do more research into the science behind weed and the medical spiritual aspects of cannabis you might find yourself in a world that even a large corportation cant survive in. Cannabis is our miricale plant that we have been asking for begging for praying for for years. well here it is. The main reason we have fought so hard to leagalize weed was not for fairness of growers it has been for the billions of people who need cannabis in their regular diet and life in order to save them from cancer, seizures, pain, anxiety, social disorders, inflimation, mental health, physical health. We legalized cannabis so we can use it to cure the world ask anyone who was on the front lines and is still on the front lines they will tell you the same

Gross, so capitalism has violated the purity of pot and everyone’s eating it up. Meanwhile the shit grows out of the ground. Buy some Panama Red, grow your own pot and you’ll enjoy it much, much more.

Nasdaq approved of FSD Pharma, a Canadian pharmaceutical giant, to share their stocks. FSD Pharma is one of the leading researchers in cannabis uses in the country. This could be a step forward into the legalization of cannabis.

This is sickening to me…. money, greed, corporate business weasels & the consumer culturization of what was once a cool thing. Weed should not be grown in factory’s burning untold amounts of fossil fuels where workers are cogs in an industrialized process. Why support something that is just another toxic nail in our planet? Grow your own in dirt under our sun and become spiritual. Factory slaves and empty bling are sad. This seems a sellout of something that has potential to help a world in great need.

I love Quartz and read your newsletter every day. Super disappointed to hear ‘…state-owned centers that sell weed…" Canada has provinces and territories, not states. Hopefully when filming took place in Ottawa, Ontario, the crew realized they were also in the capital of our country, an important city, just as Washington, D.C. is to the U.S. (not to be confused with the state of Washington which happens to be just south of another important Canadian weed province: British Columbia.).

I like Mario’s idea with the limited drops because then you can check what was recently put out there and you can tell the reals from the fakes much easier

Pot stocks (including CGC) have dropped 50%+ in the last 6 months because people are beginning to realize yes it is just another commodity that people can easily grow themselves.

Canopy growth are the OG criminals of the legal weed game, why dont you report on the fact they got busted trying to ship 1400 pounds bought from MMAR growers and the RCMP covered it up..and surprise surprise, nobody went to jail or were even charged, these guys are major criminals

  31. May Genevieve Carren Alturas on February 19, 2020 at 11:13 am

  43. 91750fast on February 19, 2020 at 11:21 am

The conclusion the program came to is wrong, its not just another product and its inherently hard to do consistently on any level. Thats what all these suits and most people will never understand. This is sacred medicine that is using humans to further its priorities, not the other way around. That asshole that wrote the book prob doesn’t even smoke by the looks of it. Sherbinski got lucky with his genetics quite frankly. The fact his only mission is to sell hype beast weed on fairfax says everything about him and he is definitely not the first to do it lol.

  44. L P on February 19, 2020 at 11:22 am

Big companies are going to dominate the market because of the regulations put in place. The little guys can’t afford the requirements put in place. And the big companies end up charging what they want. And that is why black market weed is still cheaper.

Anglo boys sure love paying extra to corporations for stuff they can buy locally.

  48. boltonky on February 19, 2020 at 11:25 am

Very interesting and a lot has to be said around the laws in each country and monopolisation of business, but i would love to meet some of those VP’s and have a good chat around sustainability.
Real weed takes around a year in my books, it can be done in 3 months but that’s when you fall into problems with it not being natural

  49. iNQuiSitiVe on February 19, 2020 at 11:26 am

‘Weed is just another product’. Obliviously it isn’t…

  50. Your friendly Neighborhood Dealer on February 19, 2020 at 11:27 am

The people choose the market. (without taxes) taxation is immoral, whether you think it’s justified or not.
