Steam Distillation of fresh Blue Dream Flowers – Cannabis Terpenes – Marijuana Essential Oil

As I continue the journey of refining my process, I recently made some terpene rich essential oil from freshly harvested Blue Dream buds. I trimmed most of the leaf before the extraction and minimized bumping during the distillation. The resulting oil is nearly water clear and is extremely fragrant and delicious.

Why cant you use steam Distillation for the cannabinoids too?Is it just using a different heating temperature? Can u not heat in an oil at a ideal temperature to extraction all Cannabinoids and terpenes?

    Thank you for this information.

So that was one of the process to get terpenes out? Sorry if I am a little slow.

  4. Sean Mendoza on March 19, 2020 at 12:02 pm

so once you are done and you collect your terps you can use this as a dilution to cut down sappy oils like rosin for vape pens? if so why do ppl still use vg and pg instead of terps…i would think maybe to double their profits but i would use this terp instead any day! pureness im looking for a steam distillation any you recommend off amazon?

I am new to steam distillation and came across your video. I want to extract the essential oil from cannabis flowers so i can concoct a cologne that smells like weed. I have some questions for you, does the essential oil that you extract smell like the buds you are starting with, also how much oil do you get from the 1 pound of bud.you start out with? I came across the heartmagic essential oil steam distillation kit but i dont know if that is the best kit to use.or if there is a better method. One last question, is it even worth going through all this just to get the essential oil from steam extraction method rather then buying the essential oil from someone who sells the essential oil ready in a bottle. If you knoew of any great smelling cannabis flower essential oils ready for sale that smell like weed id like to know. Thank you.

What about the water soluble terpenes? Can you then isolate them too?>

  7. Jay Lovesu on March 19, 2020 at 12:06 pm

@golden beaver farms is there any way we could talk about a purchase? Just for the terpenes that is..and possibly cbd? we help a lot of people that are in serious need. Looking for a consistent source for terps and possibly cbd..but definitely for terps..and bulk. @cannabis_miamor on IG and cannabismiamor@gmail.com I will reach out to ya..thank you for the great content..

I’m a soap maker and was wondering how much material would be needed to collect, say 2 fl oz of terpene? That’d be one hell of an expensive bar of soap I’m thinking.

okay let me get this straight.. a while ago i bought a cart that had clear oil but had a hint of gold and i got high from it but i was worried cuz it looked clearish. is this the method the company of the cart used?

  10. lordkid10 on March 19, 2020 at 12:11 pm

@golden beaver farms how long do you run each filled chamber for? And have you tried a single chamber filled with material and water? If so what difference is there?

Is ethanol safer than iso? & does heat evaporation remove either etho or iso completely when mixed with cannabis?

  13. FatThor Malone on March 19, 2020 at 12:19 pm

Im a weed scientist in my area but Im sure I dont understand this process

  14. FatThor Malone on March 19, 2020 at 12:24 pm

holy shit so you’re distilling it so its like weed moonshine ? like weed instead of potatoes or corn

  15. P Money on March 19, 2020 at 12:27 pm

Do you put water or alcohol in the part that has the flowers in it ?

  16. Mr.Haapy on March 19, 2020 at 12:28 pm

After you distill the cannabist is there anything else you need to do or can you just use

  17. Jay Lovesu on March 19, 2020 at 12:29 pm

This guy is AWESOME. Diamond in the rough!! He’s NOT AT ALL LIKE MANY OTHERS..So many MISLEADING DISHONEST FOLKS in the terpene game. This guy gets a comment from me!! Highly recommend before he gets to busy to mess with ya. 9/10 rating on the sample I got. And I’m EXTREMELY picky. 9.5/10 on blue dream and super lemon haze.

Hi. first of all I want to say thankyou for this amazing stuff. I’ve got one question for you ¿How many fresh or dried prime matter do you usually use as biomass in each distillation? Thanks in advanced

  19. joshua alden on March 19, 2020 at 12:33 pm

Can I let the oil dry naturally and if so for how long? Stupid question, is this more potent or contain higher thc levels, or just a flavoring? 2nd stupid question, do you even get high dabbing it?

  20. troyoz on March 19, 2020 at 12:34 pm

Can you still extract the cannabinoids after you get the terps out of the flower?

  21. Green Brothers Farms on March 19, 2020 at 12:36 pm

I see you are running your distillation at about 100c. This doesn’t affect the smell of the terps? Also, is there any reason why you don’t do a vacuum distillation in order to run at lower temps?

  22. Brandon Lowry on March 19, 2020 at 12:39 pm

I know this is a somewhat older video, but we just legalized medical cannabis in OK and getting into commercial processing. I have been reading about making rosin from kief and reintroducing terpene distillate for vaping. Have you had any success or experience with this? I am having difficulty choosing the right lab set, as I am unsure of the pros and cons of vacuum steam vs steam without vacuum and then chiller vs no chiller.

  23. Alejandro Sabbath on March 19, 2020 at 12:44 pm

hello congratz for your vid.. i have some question for you… hope can helpme,, the pressure is atmospheric or vacuum?… and… after this extraction of terpenes.. can still performance a cannabinoids extract??

  24. Martin Baeza Cosentine on March 19, 2020 at 12:45 pm

THC is not caried over by the steam, right? If you burn the canabis after taking the essential oil, will it still be active but without smelling like canabis? I mean… could it be used as stealth canabis or something like that?

  25. MVGIC 47 on March 19, 2020 at 12:46 pm

Wow… Always great to see something new and interesting like this

  26. F.U.Q.D.U.P. on March 19, 2020 at 12:46 pm

stupid question…what happens to the thc?

  27. Cheryl Phelan on March 19, 2020 at 12:47 pm

Just ordered this from Fogg Labs in W. Newbury, Ma. just down the highway from me:) Psyched to try it out. Great video!👍🏽❤️

  28. High TV on March 19, 2020 at 12:47 pm

Hi mate was thinking of getting this kit just a few questions. Is it water thats used? Are you best using dry or wet material? Also is the end product around the 90% thc?

  29. Unlimited Potential on March 19, 2020 at 12:50 pm

THIS NEEDS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR THE MASSES. Imagine getting strain-specific essential oils to modify the effects to our liking.

TERPS FROM CANNABIS SHOULD BE LEGAL TO SELL EVERYWHERE.

  30. # on March 19, 2020 at 12:51 pm

hey @Golden Beaver Farms where did you get your kit from or if you know of a cheaper place to get this… much appreciated if you can tell me!

  31. mdowning77 on March 19, 2020 at 12:51 pm

Is the steam distillate a little bit less thick than the other kind of distillate?

  32. Blunted &co. on March 19, 2020 at 12:52 pm

can you kief extract the flower and then use the remaining flower to steam distillate it or will there not be enough terps left? i figure it would work okay?

  33. pine apple on March 19, 2020 at 12:53 pm

what are the uses of the end product?
