It’s been five years since recreational marijuana became legal in Colorado. The drug is now an integral part of the state’s economy, politics and everyday life. New York Times national correspondent Jack Healy joined CBSN to discuss some of the surprising changes the state has undergone.

Hmm how can we work race into the weed conversation? This is why our country is so split, because we continue to see people based on their skin color.

    Regulate it like alcohol!

He’s not really painting the whole picture here, it’s overwhelmingly supported and measures are increasing to offer public consumption and understand dosing better. It’s a very safe and pleasurable herb when enjoyed properly, with love!

Adults can do what they please. Kids are designed to make mistakes, by the Grace of God they will learn and not suffer much damage, but you have decades of proof…it can’t be stopped. We are only creating criminals, not responsible and upstanding citizens…pick your poison.

As a constitutionalist, yes, it should be legal and so should a lot of things that are not.
According to the Constitution it is in fact legal as far as I am concerned.
However people should also take responsibility for their own actions.
For example just because it is legal it doesn’t mean that you can smoke it in my face.
If I don’t want it on my property then don’t bring it.
The real reason it was made illegal in the first place was because of the chemical companies .
Hemp was used for clothing and paper . Other things as well.
You need chemicals to treat the wood to make paper.
All you need for hemp to become paper is water.
    Cotton the same thing.
Now you all want it to be legal so that you can live in a doped up state of mind.
What’s wrong? Mommy and Daddy didn’t love you enough?

I walked by LIQUOR stores when I was younger. Also it’s easy for a child to get their hands on alcohol. So the conservative talking point is flawed.

did folks start doing this all day long everyday. years from now like sunny

In December 1999, according to a report by BBC News, the negative
publicity escalated when a Sunny Delight television commercial showing a
snowman turning orange was released, at about the same time as reports of a
four year old girl who experienced her skin turning orange – due to the
product’s use of beta-Carotene for color – after drinking an estimated 1.5 litres
    of Sunny Delight a day.

The whole β€œthink of the kids” argument is disingenuous. Many things are potentially dangerous for kids yet we assume people are individually responsible for keeping themselves and their dependents safe.

Even though marijuana legalization is probably coming soon. I think it’s going to take a really long time until peoples thoughts and perceptions about marijuana use will mature.

Once its legal in all 50 states and everybody is growing it cartels will see their business dwindle – plus states have to remove all the extra paperwork that business suppliers have to go thru..it’s ridiculous- each plant has to be marked, weighed and all this stupid stuff just to control what is now legal.. GET OVER IT.. Put it on the shelf with Cigarettes and a tax stamp on it.. Everything will work it self out.

  20. james richards on November 20, 2020 at 9:17 pm

if/when marijuana is legalised world wide it will not only affect climate change but turn everybody into zombie like triffids or mass shooting murderers.

When cannabis legalization goes Countrywide there will be no need for Black Market. Question what percentage racial arrest is Black Market related? All human beings should be treated equal as long as they do not violate fundamental rights of other human beings! The Golden Rule is the key to true outreaching peace amongst all human beings!

My family owns a large plant nursery and was recently licensed to grow certain strains of marijuana. We currently have millions (likely tens of millions) of plants growing. Our operation was very large already simply selling perennials, annuals, shuns, trees, herbs, vegetables, fruits etc., but within a few months of starting our marijuana operation we have decided to fully dedicate our farm to it, as the net profit is ~8x what is was before. There is a short clip on my channel of one of our houses. If enough interest is shown, I can post a video of the scale of our operation as well as provide insight as to how we run it. Thanks!

How are the prison systems doing with more space for people who should actually be in there? And just how is Colorado doing as a whole since legalization? Is it going smooth? Does it look like they made the right decision?

  39. M. Happy on November 20, 2020 at 9:39 pm

I’m sorry but this is a ridiculous study. This man states they didn’t find a spike of consumption in adolescence, but then says it’s still illegal if you’re under 21. How exactly did you get your info correct then? A teenager isn’t going to admit to smoking or consuming marijuana if they know they could be putting themselves in danger. They are more educated nowadays. Come on people, think about it. Also, this reporter was way too happy and jovial to hear this man discredit her grandfather’s concerns. Wonder what she does on her free timeπŸ€”

  40. Suave JAE on November 20, 2020 at 9:41 pm

I find it strange that a plant is illegal and consumption is looked down upon by society. While tobacco, alcohol and man made pharmaceutical drugs are permitted to be used and are legal….

The cost of this industry is my death from torture of low frequency vibes caused by Pure Greens/Adolphus Busch V pot grow in Salida Coloraod which has rendered our home a torture chamber for the profit of a vile beer heir and his partners who have polluted our town with obscene lights and sound, abused our resources and profit on the destruction of an entire community for the profit of an outsider who was able to exploit because our corrupt town imposed a moratorium to prevent locals who care about the environment from thriving on the new industry they robbed us of before it started. My death is at the hands of Chaffee county, Salida Colorado, Berlin International, Pure greens, PG 11 Grow, Mile High Green Cross,Mega Grow Hydro, High Harvest, V3 Oil, ABV Cannabis Co, Cannika and any other name they use and Adolphus Busch V. with assistance from our light polluting, HVAC running, generator using hospital who assisted pure greens in removing our ability to enjoy our own home unharassed. Don’t let your town put a pot grow in. They abuse power, water and pollute with stench and light and you will never have peace again.
