Is Marijuana Legalization Inevitable In The US?

Every ballot initiative involving the decriminalization or legalization of marijuana passed in the 2020 election. The Democratic-controlled House also passed the MORE Act in early December, which would legalize marijuana at the federal level and implement sweeping regulations surrounding the drug. These developments reveal something important about the shift in the marijuana debate: Marijuana may be one of the truly bipartisan issues in the U.S. right now.

Why shouldn’t it be? We need to stop the war on drugs. And legalize everything.Only problem is how would we keep the prisons full they don’t want that racket gone.

It’s amazing to me. When I was a kid I remember how the older folks talked about how bad weed was and to never try it. Now in my state it’s completely legal. I remember man guys going to jail for years. Their youth stolen and for what reason? They were demonize for a plant. Crazy how in 30 years the world or our country has changed

It boils down to this. Slavery still exists in America just under a different name, and that name is incarceration. 4 people of color arrested to every 1 Caucasian.

  17. GeoMisfit on April 12, 2021 at 5:59 pm

We’ll never end the war on drugs, until we get rid of for-profit prisons. The huge corporations which run those prisons, lobby politicians hard, to keep the war on drugs going because the vast majority of the inmates in those prisons are in there for drug offenses (46%).

It’ll only harm US as it’s a blatant violation of international law.
A couple states might go under the radar but the UN will eventually ring the alarm bell if more states legalize.

why do you lie about why weed was made illegal

  38. 0667paulywog on April 12, 2021 at 6:21 pm

The Department of Agriculture/USDA is the regulating department of plants. The FDA has approved hemp derivatives as decarboxilated THCA since at least the mid 1980s. The Department of Agriculture/USDA lists marijuana as a hemp plant with cannabis. They don’t call any hemp illicit until the THC content is over 300mg of 1,000mg dry weight. 330/1,000 = .30%. Or three tenths per-cent(1/100th) a unit of measure(1). Like the video mentioned, the history is related to marijuana’s smoked definition. That’s why it’s a schedule 1 ; no medical value. Gerrymandering seems the right word for lobbying the legalization the authoritative department already legalized. Old federal modality studies where they allowed joints in medical care is probably why the USDA lists marijuana as a plant. The federal farm acts have pointed towards more efforts of controlling illicit markets of marijuana in comparison to discrimination of prosecuting what is already basically legal federally and in all 50 states.

Nobody over the age of 65 should be making decisions for other people. They lack common sense and they live in the past. We need a young government that actually knows what the hell the real world is like.

Just legalize it federally, allow counties to ban the sell of it in their county and move on

  42. Jonathan F on April 12, 2021 at 6:25 pm

Why would anyone want to legalize a drug that get people high? Good luck dealing with criminals, distracting people and high people behind the wheel

  43. MUFFIN SAVIOR on April 12, 2021 at 6:28 pm

I may not smoke like i did in hs im not a stoner im sober 80% of the time. However, cbd treats helped my old hunting dog get some form of peace her last few months of cancer. Not only to mention my family has their cards my dad has quit smoking cigs and instead hits his pen and its helped my oldest cousin with his asbergers so if they don’t make it recreational i hope they make it medical this isn’t a drug it is the greatest medicine Ive seen.

  44. Jimmy Hernandez on April 12, 2021 at 6:30 pm

    Hypocrisy!

  45. Jon Gray on April 12, 2021 at 6:30 pm

Pharmaceuticals and alcohol have killed hundreds of thousands of people! Cannabis is still waiting for its first death! Cannabis is not for everyone and those people figure that out pretty quickly because of anxiety related issues. There are over 84,000+ medical patients on the Colorado registry and maybe there are that many people because those people have found there is nothing that makes using cannabis a negative experience. Save your seeds because leaving this in the hands of the politicians, well what could possibly go wrong. As evidenced here in Colorado, quite a bit, politicians are screwing this up with most legislation currently being heard and has been heard!

  46. Dustin Clark on April 12, 2021 at 6:31 pm

  47. Jay Jay on April 12, 2021 at 6:33 pm
