#Cannabislaws #CBDlaws #CannabisUK

Robert Jappie – The Head of the Cannabis Law Team at Mackrell Turner Garrett, The UK’s first dedicated Cannabis Law department, discusses the correct actions to take when confronted by police at home or on the street, the grey areas around ‘stop and search’, and why it’s not always the right thing to “depend on the honesty of officers”.

What if the police come to your door because a violent disturbance (fake call)?? Are they allowed to come in without a warrant?
I know people that call the police on people (gardeners) just to f*** them up.
Wouldn’t be easier not to answer/open the door to the police?
Some replies would be nice. Thanks

"I do not require or except your legal advice, no thank you" and I went on my way with a small spliff burning away in my mouth, the of duty plod was shocked and didn’t follow me. And 5 plods have relatable information on my medical situation and even advised me that I should be smoking it. I’d like to not smoke indefinitely but it’s the only way I can afford to medicate. Also (not that I regular partake) I’ve discovered that I get pain relief from viagra but the doctor is not understanding why.

You have to establish form from them to state the nature of any intended detention and ask them to express any or all ‘reasonably articulable suspicion’ if they don’t, repeat, am I being detained, if not, ask am I free to go.

  23. RacksOnRacks 1000 on May 31, 2021 at 7:55 pm

Always be polite so you don’t meet the end of a taser for saying “damn” 😂

  24. Marky Mark on May 31, 2021 at 7:58 pm

This is what to do in an ideal world – however:
Police knocked on my door early in the morning in 2014 and asked to come in because of reports I was growing cannabis. The policeman asked to look round but he didn’t have a search warrant so I politely said no and began to close the door. He put his foot in the door and after a struggle, forced his way past me. He found a small grow in my attic, and was soon joined by a team of his colleagues. They had been waiting around the corner for a search warrant to be signed by a magistrate and the policeman who came to my door had got impatient waiting. Later, he told me that if I had closed the door he would have come in through the window (even though young children were in the room!)
The officer told the complete truth to the judge in court about not having a warrant but nothing was said, even by my own solicitor!
    I received a prison sentence.

  25. HEADS TAILS on May 31, 2021 at 7:58 pm

He started off by saying he was afraid of police busting in his door , im guessing on the fact that they obviously know him on sight?..Wouldnt commonsense say its time too set up a new address some where your not known?..if he owns his own place fare enough , if a rented flat then move on duhh, and yes i know he shouldnt have too but lifes a bitch some days…

  30. The Toad on May 31, 2021 at 8:06 pm

If you are growing cannabis and they can smell it coming from your house they will use reasonable suspicion and just kick your door in if you don’t open it. And then they’ll have the proof of why they kicked the door in. Sad but true.

  31. De Bu on May 31, 2021 at 8:12 pm

This is a lie. If the police have suspicion that you are a criminal then you can be arrested and taken to the station for questioning. If you want to piss them off they can arrest you aswel … and then take you to the station again. They can search the premises if they feel there is something connected with a crime in your abode. No warrant needed. Authority: PACE 1984 and SOCAP 2005.

Good info, thanks. I had three real cool coppers at my door asking if I had purchased anything from Amsterdam (dumb move by me) on the internet? which had been caught by cutoms. I did invite them in as i didnt like the neighoburs seeing. I actually asked if I was going to be arreseted (remebering some random YT vid), and they said no we just want to talk to you, so I owned up to what they wanted to know, told themabout my nerve damage, and they suggested going to the NHS? I said I thought that was only for soldiers with brain damage. I’d frame it that they are given a list of people to visit, so the smoother you can make it, the quicker they will be on their way. I resisted making random wise cracks.

  33. fragba1t on May 31, 2021 at 8:14 pm

All the police have said to me, on the street, in the past has been (and I’m not the only person this has happened to) "there has been some burglaries in the area, would you mind emptying your pockets for me?" Pretty much means they can search you anytime, anywhere – unless the laws have changed.
