Imagine being okay that you live in a country where other humans can tell you what plants you can have. Imagine how fucked up that would be… oh wait.

Why is Matt Hancock such a mug. Just legalise the whole thing just because a couple people get psychosis, who normally have already existing mental illness or issues, means no one can use it. People drink themselves to death daily and smoke tobacco relentlessly. These poor kids need it as a medicine and all they do is elongate these “trials” to suppress the idea of legalisation. Legalisation would reduce crime as cannabis is a main contributor to gangs and criminals so why don’t we take the profit from the criminals and pump it into our economy? It can also be used to create things such as clothing, structures, candles etc. Most importantly it can be used to treat horrible health issues such as epilepsy, cancer, anxiety and many more. It’s time we reform our archaic laws from as far back as 1928, which is pre World War 2 and this country has changed massively from then. Do the right thing and legalise the herb!

  7. legalburrito788 on October 26, 2021 at 10:34 am

If someone suffers from psychosis, it is not the drug’s fault. If someone has a psychotic break from drinking alcohol, you wouldn’t then ban alcohol you see? The fact of the matter is, if alcohol is legal, then recreational marijuana should be legal as well. We need more young people in government! I’m so tired of seeing the older generation make laws that are so out of touch with reality and the culture of those in the UK. There are many people from different backgrounds and cultures who use marijuana as a means to relax and helps with their anxiety and depression. Alcohol is the number 1 killer in the U.K. and yet alcohol is 100% legal. Drink driving is extremely dangerous and yet alcohol is still LEGAL. Marijuana is not nearly as bad or as lethal as alcohol consumption. You also cannot overdose on marijuana making it safer than alcohol. Maybe I’ll run for office and get it done since this government can’t figure it out.

Cannabis prohibition is abusive and murderous to disabled people.

  9. Ben 7 on October 26, 2021 at 10:35 am

It’s not legal because they profit from it just fine, why rock the boat.

I’ve just seen an hour of people begging why can’t people simply medicate themselves, and a man cowardly saying no..its the oldest safest recorded medicine ever by humans, this is truly disgusting unfair and unnatural ruling

Think about it this way… if cannabis is safe enough to prescribe to those who are severely ill to manage their chronic pain, then it’s safe enough for EVERYONE. There’s no reason tobacco and alcohol is legal and cannabis is not. Not only would it bring in tax money during the pandemic but it would put less strain on our justice system because less people are being detained and then sent to prison for drug related crimes which means the police can focus on catching actual criminals versus those who smoke cannabis. All of my elderly neighbours smoke and it should be their right to do so free without the fear of persecution. Legalize ALL cannabis in the UK!

  21. Gamabunda on October 26, 2021 at 10:50 am

Nice one, parliament. A plant that has never killed anybody ever is still illegal, but alcohol and tobacco which kill thousands per year are available at any shop you can think of

  29. Michael Skelton on October 26, 2021 at 11:02 am

I can imagine that’s one reason cannabis is still illegal in the UK, if they go down the medical route first like the USA did it will be our health service that pays the upfront costs. We need to bring down the cost that suppliers from other countries are stinging us with… The price of cannabis ATM is equivalent of paying £80 for a jar of basil… Even saffron is cheaper then cannabis (by about 1/2). I can imagine you could probably bring the cost of cannabis down to the 80p/10g mark like things like basil. The market is price gouged to hell. You can grow 1 plant and produce anywhere from £100-5,000 worth depending on the strains size (basically you’d get thrown in prison for intent to supply for growing 1 plant). There’s no wonder people grow and sell cannabis in the UK (illegally). You can still get cannabis even if it is illegal, the only difference is that you don’t know what you’re buying and most doesn’t have a safe THC/CBD ratio which when the CBD is low causes more psychotic episodes. The schizophrenia risks could be dramatically reduced if it was legal and I can’t imagine people who have a tendancy to schizophrenia and are self medicating will choose strains that worsens their mental state.

Keeping cannabis illegal doesn’t fix any problems. If anything it just causes people to have a distrust of the government because most of the anti cannabis campaigns is pure propaganda. Cannabis is just as if not safer then alcohol.

I always wonder if politicians are in the pocket of big drug dealing businesses, I can imagine they’re worth billions.

As a qualified forensic scientist, and someone who has studied cannabis for over 15 years.
In 1843 a Sir William O’shaugansey stated that Cannabis treatment within the use of epilepsy is a breakthrough. In 2021 we are still debating it.
Over 50 states in the USA have legalised cannabis.
We are a laughingstock throughout the world.
The UK has been the biggest exporter of cannabis, but we deprive it from our own citizens.
No one has ever died from the consumption of cannabis.
There is an abundance of research out there.
There is no difference between a pharmaceutical plant or a plant people grow.
California turnover £1billion last year, that’s just one state.
It is clear from this, that the pharmaceutical industry, the governing authorities have no idea whatsoever regarding cannabis.
However we let the criminals benefit from it here.
    This government should be ashamed.

The CBD market is a scam very many of the products don’t contain CBD and the prices of decent CBD bud costs more than street cannabis.
This reminds me of the many times I have seen the medical profession being bullies only wanting to prescribe back pocket incentive based non naturally occurring chemicals.
I put this argument to the MP’s of parliament.
In ten years there will be far more Patent-able chemicals on the market closer to the price of sweets. This is because AI enables a fast way to prototype, test and licence new drugs.
Should the doctor not be kicked up the backside to prescribe where appropriate natural products and not just the bare minimum.
    Examples include.
Algae and fish based oil for people with brain damage.
    Prostratin for HIV.
A vitamin and mineral complex for Diabetes.
Glycine for negative symptoms of schizophrenia.
If there is a good known natural solution or aid to an ailment why should it not be prescribed.
It’s a big issue I know but it needs a good debate.

If marijuana is safe to give to a SICK DYING CHILD, then why is it still illegal for recreational use? Alcohol is legal and is more fatal and kills more people than marijuana ever has! Matt Hancock is a joke of a health secretary!

  49. Andy on October 26, 2021 at 11:25 am

This is so stupid… If this debate was about alcohol, nicotine, pain killers – you could argue almost anything is more dangerous than cannabis and should be illegal.

Just legalise it already – millions enjoy it, it kills nobody, health harms limited to extreme use of strongest stuff by young people – which would be greatly improved by legalisation.
