10 Worst Places to be Caught with Cannabis!

The Ten Worst Places in the World to Get Caught with Cannabis

The laws surrounding cannabis, from its legality to the difference between personal recreational use and intention to supply, vary across the globe.

The matter is not made any clearer when it comes to the USA, where in some states possession of cannabis is seen as a more serious crime than possession of cocaine.

If there is one consistent place where you never want to get caught with cannabis though, it’s in your bedroom by your mother or father!

The fight to legalise cannabis continues unabated and in parts of Europe, notably Holland, while possession of cannabis is still illegal, it goes unpunished as a crime.

While possession is a crime in the U.K., the law is becoming more relaxed and invariably, if it is clear you are just a recreational user, a smack on the wrist is the worst you will get.

So, in the format of the gameshow Pointless, which countries do you think have the harshest penalties for being caught in possession of cannabis? We think there are a few places on this list that will remain ‘pointless’ as none of you will mention them.

In the land of the setting sun, don’t watch it go down while smoking a joint as you’ll spend the next five years in a Japanese jail.

It’s hard to imagine that anywhere in South America would have a problem with cannabis, but if caught with it in Colombia, expect to spend around six years in jail.

There are a couple of countries on the old Eastern Bloc that don’t smile kindly on potheads, one being Lithuania. Expect a six-and-a-half-year stretch here.

Be careful if you go to Cyprus on holiday. Just imagine those long days filled full of sunshine, crystal-blue waters and sandy beaches, all just out of reach as you spend eight years admiring the view from your cell window.

Not surprisingly, Russia makes it onto the list, though with a less-harsh-than-expected nine-and-a-half-year stretch the average.

Slovakia surprised us, sneaking in at number four with a most respectable twelve-year period of detention.

As we near the end of the list, there is United Arab Emirates, or UAE. Hardly a surprise in an area where alcohol is only permitted in certain areas that possessing cannabis will see you locked away for anything up to fifteen years. Saudi Arabia is just as harsh.

Then, how could we forget the backdrop to the harrowing film Midnight Express. Not much has changed since then so don’t get caught with any dope in Turkey, or you can kiss goodbye to eighteen years of your life.

If you like the occasional joint, give Nigeria a wide berth. 25 years in jail awaits anyone caught with cannabis. Seems a bit harsh when you don’t even get that long in prison for trying to overthrow the government!

Then, grouped together, we have the Philippines, Cambodia and Singapore, where life imprisonment is not unheard of, and nor is execution!

So, have you got any names you’d like to add to the list – we do hope not through personal experience! Leave us a note in the comments section below to let everyone know where they should cross off their holiday list….

Another world wide franchise government scam to fill jails, slow population growth, amasse a slave labour force, demonise locals, create gangs, divide and conquer, empower more the already empowered and make richer the already rich .. not to mention those who will loose their strangle hold on their multi generational income stream being extremely pi553d off.

I lived in the UAE for 6 years, only smoked 3 times over there, and only because it came my way through high school friends, I would never even think about buying or asking anyone for some.

Now I’m here in Mexico smoking every day wherever I want.

Wtf why you say Cambodia in the end and have a flag of some other countries, Cambodia is the most chill country in sea with cannabis, they use it in food traditionally so its not illigeal to eat it only smoke, and the Cambodians are allowed to grow 2 plants for own use in food, they have happy pizza places everywhere in the touristcitys and you can smoke in most of the backpacker places

With the new government, Lithuania is trying to decriminalize cannabis and other drugs.. Liberal party sees prison sentence just for possession and recreational use is too harsh as a punishment. But of course there are other parties in the government that have old mentality cannot understand that cannabis is not the same as heroin and putting addicts to prison costs a lot more money off of tax payers than offering a rehab.
Plus, right now, there are numerous videos were police catch cannabis users with brute force just like real criminals no differences…

Only fair to also do a video on Top 10 places to be caught without Cannabis! 😎😎

Edit: Or Bottom 10 ? Worst places WTF

  44. Supercharged Helium on November 3, 2021 at 12:47 pm

I guarantee you will not do 6 years over weed in Colombia. Some of these places are not actually that bad regarding enforcement (Russia, Nigeria, Cambodia which has WEED CAFES and very little law enforcement in general), while you left out very notable ones such as China, Malaysia, which have mandatory death penalties for dealing. Very poorly researched video.

  45. Kyle on November 3, 2021 at 12:47 pm

You are waaaaaaay off with Cambodia! Cannabis is everywhere in Cambodia – it’s probably the best place in Asia for it. You can buy it in the happy pizza places and there are certain bars that sell it behind the counter. If you somehow get caught you just apologise to the police, say I’ll pay the fine, give them like $20 or whatever you have in your wallet and go on your way, although it does probably help being a white westerner. Hopefully the massive influx of Chinese money won’t completely destroy the place like it already has done to Sihanoukville.

  46. sub-zero on November 3, 2021 at 12:49 pm

Under a week ago my country norway changed the law on personal use ammounts of cannabis, from a jail/fine to now only a drug awareness course if caught with it. Going in the right direction but so slow.

  50. Achilies Mastery on November 3, 2021 at 12:54 pm

In Serbia you get 3 years for the first time ,6 years for the second time you get caught and eventually if they caught you third time you get max 12 YEARS!!!….did my time on the first 3 hahahah ;D
