The Law on Cannabis / Weed in South Africa

Hey guys πŸ™‚ Here is what you should know about weed laws in South Africa as I explain the 2018 Prince Con Court judgment and the proposed Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill. An interesting question relates to what police are allowed to do if they find you in possession of a suspicious amount of cannabis.

Lastly, I would love it if you shared your opinions on the grow club model. An example is the Haze Club.

Hope this is informative.

Just to add to the legal coverage, you can cultivate cannabis commercially, but under licence by SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority). These licences are issued on the basis of an international buyer for the pharmaceutical API (here the cannabis is treated as a pharmaceutical active). Hopefully this will change with time as local patient access to medicinal cannabis improves.

I’ve been struggling with anxiety and depression most of my life, has gotten so bad, I have tried taking my own life multiple times, while everyone has the right to their opinion, I find it upsetting that people still only see it as a drug, and frankly I find people with that mindset, ignorent. This is my personal feelings and is not meant to offend anyone, but I have received benefits from using responsibile. I am aware that there are still many issues legally around cannibis. Such as in workplace, it stays longer in system. So a Friday smoke will still be in system on Monday, what happens in such a case? (if medical test is on monday) just curious to hear some information as it seems to be a grey area.

So what I’m getting is that dealing is unlaw, but what if you dealing wth the intention of supplying to medical practitioners , pharmacies extra etc is that also unlawful?πŸ‘€
Taking into consideration all the financial/ economic issues we have as a country πŸ€” wht if they make dealing lawful (under certsin conditions of course, e.g you not allowed to sell to minors etc etc). They could also require the dealers to have a licence before dealing, (the same way ppl have business licence or licence to sell alcohol), they could also tax the dealers based on the quantities they sell or who they distribute to.
