Marijuana Stocks: What Could Go Wrong?

If you’re tempted to buy marijuana stocks, you’re not alone. The marijuana market is valued at more than $150 billion annually and momentum to legalize it in the U.S. — the world’s biggest market — is building.

Nevertheless, caution is warranted. Government’s could balk at pro-pot initiatives, demand could wane if taxes are too high, valuations are arguably pricing in a lot of the opportunity, and then, there could be unforeseen negative consequences associated with widespread marijuana use. In this clip from The Motley Fool’s Industry Focus: Healthcare, analyst Shannon Jones asks guests Todd Campbell, Sean Williams, and Keith Speights what it is about this market that keeps them awake at night.

Everybody loves getting high. Weed is a gold bar. The only thing stopping the "Weed Boom" is the political/laws. I live in the hood (now) and I see street dealers with a drive thru line around the trap house. $$$money is coming. If not to the global economy, the suburbs, hoods, and streets alone can produce major revenue! Hell, if you can legalize gay marriage…. "You can legalize marijuana!" LOL

"We don’t know if there’s an unknown consequence out there"

You guys must not be from California. There are no unforseen consequences that haven’t already been discovered out here. So, smoke weed everyday

If you held on through the dotcom bust till today you’re doing pretty ok with Google and Amazon. Maybe it is a bubble, maybe 8 in 10 companies die off, but maybe some of the companies of today are the big winners later. I’m just going with ETFs that index them all.

Aurora predicted to grow as quickly as Canopy , a company with much more expansion capacity and does more then just grow or produce marijuana. What is long term outlook for both companies is Aurora just as good an investment?
