Los Angeles' First Ever Marijuana Farmers' Market

Thousands celebrated their independence over the Fourth of July weekend by attending the first ever marijuana farmers’ market in the Los Angeles community of Boyle Heights.

The California Heritage Market was organized by 22-year-old Paizley Bradbury, who also serves as the executive director of the West Coast Collective, a marijuana dispensary. Bradbury became concerned that patients were losing access to medicinal marijuana after Los Angeles voters passed Proposition D in 2013—a law which restricted the number of pot shops that could operate within city limits.

“We don’t have a lot of dispensaries in Los Angeles and that kind of limits the amount of growers that people have access to,” states Bradbury.

The concept proved popular with consumers—an estimated 2,500 people attended on the first day alone to purchase goods from over 30 vendors.

Bradbury maintains that the market is legal because the collective is grandfathered in under the Prop D law. To attend the market, patients must provide documentation that shows they are able to legally purchase marijuana in the state.

“This is exactly the way the law is written,” says Bradbury. “Patients are supposed to be getting their medicine directly from the growers within the collective and that’s exactly what’s happening here.”

Bradbury plans to continue staging the market each weekend.

Recreational legalization might be to much for a regulation heavy state like California.

Of course weed doesn’t kill. But it make people…passive loser. I broke with a guy who was very talented in writing. His new friends got him hooked on MJ, a year after the only interest of him was smoking and chatting with another stoned jerks.

The L.A. city attorney is now seeking a court order to shut down the cannabis farmers market. You people seriously need to get moving on a drive to eject that sold out criminal from office.

I can’t wait until the Democrats start losing seats because their voters are too high to remember to vote. I say bring on the cannabis! And BTW, it’s us Libertarians who have been advocating legalization of all narcotics for a long time. You’re Welcome!

"Patients?"  "Medicine Providers?"  Yikes!  Typical left-wing terminology.

This is not about medicine, it’s about freedom. The question is not – "are drugs dangerous or healthy", the question is do you have a right to control my life or not. (I personally don’t smoke or drink or anything).

There is no logical reason marijuana is illegal and alcohol is and its even fucking hilarious when you try and make a anti marijuana  advocate explain why they think alcohol should be legal but weed shouldnt their entire argument falls apart.

Let’s not debase and soil the great name of farmer’s, farmers market’s or farming by confusing them with drug dealers and drug markets.

  24. DeimosSaturn on May 27, 2022 at 11:30 pm

That farmer’s market must smell like a turtle tank.

I’m all for legalizing it but let’s not pretend that its actual medicine.

You brain dead losertarian hipsters need to stop spreading myths. Nothing wrong with getting a high but don’t try to use science to promote your hipster lifestyles.

I don’t care what anybody says, marijuana is a VERY dangerous drug! It can turn people into U.S. Presidents for Pete’s sake, who then turn around and destroy the lives of everyone around them. No, until someone can demonstrate that pot is not a gateway drug into liberal politics, I’m against it. (Well, I’m not going to vote to make it illegal, just advocate that a disclosure label be posted: "WARNING: May cause some to exhibit socialist tendencies – Buyer Beware!!!")

  33. PostSurgeOperative on May 27, 2022 at 11:49 pm

Pot is still a lot cheaper on the black market.

If you REALLY want cannabis "legalized" then you’re in luck…because it was "legalized" the second they wrote the first statute which TOOK YOUR RIGHTS AWAY and MADE IT ILLEGAL!  Just keep sitting on your asses DOING NOTHING and begging for MORE OF THE SAME!

Now, if you want your freedoms restored, and you want to be able to make your own rational, informed decisions, "as though you were human beings capable of doing your own research and making such decisions", then you’ll stop begging to "legalize what is already 100% legalized" and start demanding the REPEAL OF CANNABIS PROHIBITION.

A good starting point is looking up the word "FREE" and the word "LEGAL", and seeing that, unlike what politicians and lawyers have been telling you, they DO NOT mean the same thing.  Never did.  Never will, either.

I have this nagging thought. Hemp and and its happy relative marijuana was supposed to grow over the planet. Our bodies are full of receptors that go in conjunction with it. Nature itself sometimes puts out noxious gases, and we know hemp cleans up pollution etc., and all those beautiful pretty crystals were supposed to be floating all around as part of our Eco-system to our health benefit. Follow along if your willing here. Hemp has been growing for thousands of years. Only in the past 86 years have we tried to eliminate nature. For the religious people (God made no mistakes) for the not religious, nature knows its Eco system and its balance and it thought wise to provide us this plant in abundance, with the ability to grow in most climates. We do have scientific evidence for sure that CBD’s and THC in varying combos have stopped tumor growth. We know scientifically this is a fact now. What illnesses are we getting as humans because we rid our planet in such mass of this plant it obviously needed? Do the bees need this plant too? What other animals are deprived of the needed plant? What could they be healed of if it grew as nature intended? We also know for a fact it eats pollution, and we know it has about another several hundred applications. Could we have actually added to our illnesses by not growing these plants and by selectively destroying them? I would argue yes, as nature knows its eco system and it determined for us to have this plant. Therefore, with science proving the benefits, and industry also proving the benefits, and nature knowing what it needs, is it not then inherently criminal and or evil for people to try to rid our planet of this amazing perfect plant, and, is it not criminal ( or evil) to deprive the human population of its beneficial properties. I think it is time to show this as the case as an over-all crime against nature and humans, besides the liberty and medical issue. Our planet needs its plant back for the health of all. I think it is time to call people out on the fact that if they are for prohibition of this plant, they are against humanity, nature, and even God (if they believe in God) and inherently bad people. Anyhow just a long drawn out thought I wanted to get out. 🙂
