Dr. John Chao shows the Pinhole Surgical Technique on the Dr. Steve Show

John Chao, DDS visits the Dr. Steve Show with Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™, also known as the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique™, a minimally invasive treatment for receding gums with no cutting, no sutures and no downtime. For more information on the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique™ or to locate a dentist or periodontist who has been trained in this new treatment, visit http://www.pinholesurgicaltechnique.com or call 888-603-2953.

“The first group of dentists and periodontists from across the country visited Los Angeles to receive training in the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique™, or PST,” says Dr. Chao, who practices in Alhambra, CA. “One dentist came all the way from Spain to attend the course,” he says.

These professionals who have been trained by Dr. Chao in PST can now offer what many are calling the best alternative to gum grafting that has been developed.

kids should learn about their brushing and caring from the first year in school, parents don’t have the time or don’t know them self yet!Constructive non profit advertisement on TV should take place in every country with a respectable Government …(hahahah). Tooth care is very important the right habits to care for it  should be taken when very young

This procedure don’t work. I’ve had my whole upper gums done and after thousands of dollars and enduring much suffering and pain let alone not able to eat and brushing my teeth. There was no improvement in my gums receding. Please don’t do it. I recommend the gum grafting procedure. I’ve had this done also and it worked for me.

I know a woman who had this done and about 5 years later she lost all her teeth. I think because when they take some gum tissue from above the recession the gum tissue that is left is not thick enough to hold the teeth tight in the socket/jaw, so the teeth get loose and fall out. I’ll bet the dentists that do this procedure make everyone sign an agreement that they aren’t held liable for any tooth looseness or loss.

Yeah, im still a teen, and i have had problems with Not brushing my teeth, and i used to brush them vigorously, so i have some gum recesion. My teeth were really bad before i got braces, and ended up having them for 3 years. I didnt like brushing my teeth so i waited a week before a dentist appointment to brush 3 times a day… i also clenched my teeth alot because braces hurt those first two years and every time i got a wire changed. it was a really bad habit of mine, and my parents spent over $5,000 because my teeth were so bad. I dont want to make them pay more than they need to, and i dont know if the pinpoint treatment would work on it, but my gum recession is on my bottom tooth, front row. One is getting worse and i dont know what to do. Can someone help me???

The main reason for recession is usually Trismus. A condition that is chronic and will persist if not addressed. TMJ is the main issue here. So having the gums "pulled" this way , the condition that causes this is STILL there.

How is the attachment of gingiva to the previously denuded surface of the tooth. Is there any new attachment formation or a pocket formation.

The procedure is interesting but the reason for the recession has more to do with patient’s clenching habits than brushing and the fact that the tissue will be extended down with no bone support, in my humble opinion, the chances of re-recession is very high. Nevertheless, I applaud Dr. Chao for his innovative and creative technique.

Between $500 to $1800 per tooth?
Shame on all you dentists. Very sad that you would charge this. Shame on you … discusting! !!!
An hours work…. you greedy fools!
$1800 would seem more like the cost for the whole procedure. .great money for an hours work.
But per tooth? You sad, greedy, money hungry idiots. What ever happen to you being doctors and helping people. Wow!
Ridiculous, totally ridiculous and no reason at all for charging that much except for greed Greed!
Explain here for all to read on how you estimate that cost or how you get to that cost in an hour work.
Its way to expensive even for two hours work. Who decided on those fee’s? You greedy fool!
Ridiculous. .shame on all of you dentists !!!

Is this effective of around an implant? I’m an implant candidate but is hesitant because of receding gum which would make the artificial tooth sit a little higher than the natural one.

I had the surgery yesterday and have some tenderness and swelling but no pain today. It did hurt for about 4 hours yesterday when the anaesthetic wore off.

My periodontist suggested this procedure to me. I am hesitant and skeptical to do it especially after reading all the reviews of the people who have done it. There no one said a good review. Most of them said they just suffered from pain and facial distortion or if successful, no one mentioned it last longer. Most of them said it went from they were receded gum or worst. Anyone could say it is really effective?

I had this operation done on me twice and let me tell you. Now it is way worse then before the operation, way worse. I am going to sue the doctor and also Chao Pinhole. What ever you do, do not do this operation, it is a scam.
