Obi-Wan Kenobi: Episodes 1-4 – re:View

Mike decides to see what Obi-Wan is all about. Expecting to see a show about a night club set in the world of Indiana Jones, he’s sorely disappointed to find out the show is about “Star Wars”. However, after watching a few episodes… he’s intrigued. It’s not as bad as Star Trek: Picard. The show seems somewhat competent? it’s thought out with some basis of logic on what an audience might want? Mike cannot believe his eyes. A show that didn’t get totally screwed up? What gives? How did this happen? Sure, it ain’t the greatest thing ever, but they tried their best and it’s not too bad. Mike then recruits his stupid friends Rich and Jay to watch the show as well.

Additionally, for those who have watched until the end and might be confused… Mike’s analogy about “A Christmas Story” means that you religiously watch a show to the end and strung along only for it to end in disappointment. It does not mean it ends in an advertisement necessarily…. Just a huge disappointment. Hence forth this shall be known in internet slang as being “Ovaltine’d”. Thank you and good night.

Mike is just happy he can enjoy Star Wars again after a decade of shitting on it.

RLM like Star Wars when it’s bad and also dislike it when it’s bad… I don’t know how they manage to screw their takes up so bad when it comes to Star Wars, to the point of just being utterly nonsensical and contradictory.

Poor Jay, this is what β€œIn the mouth of Madness” was talking about, sane and insane have switched places.

Since each episode has about 30 seconds of what gives the illusion of a good show, you could just watch clips and skip paying Disney.

A lot of the scenes came off like they were sci-fy channel movies.

I am so bummed. This series is so laughably bad, and I was counting on my RLM dudes to call out all the shortcomings… Instead I am treated to a lukewarm "Meh, it’s okay." If I can’t go here for snark, then where can I go?

I cannot stop laughing at the Christmas Story analogy. that’s freakin gold

Heydan Christianson is NOT in the suit he’s basically just doing the burned skin scenes and flashbacks.

There’s definitely a guy whose job it is at Disney to watch your videos and make note of all the potential plot-holes and illogical things you point out so they can fix it before they release more.

Interesting connection of the Cenobites to Star Wars: Pinhead was played by Doug Bradley, who voiced Emperor Vitiate in SW:TOR, one of the most brilliant voice actor castings ever!

Uh The prequels are the gold standard
The Prequels are better than the OT
The prequels make the OT way better
This obi Wan is not Prequels level
    Not even close

Mike and Rich suffer from posttraumatic stress syndrome from having seen Picard, there is no other explanation.

The grand inquisitor was a temple guardian who embraced the dark side before order 66

  18. Bull Durham on June 19, 2022 at 12:52 am

The prequels were a ILM Demo to show what they could do with CGI and was why it felt so empty. This new stuff is just a bad Star Wars knockoff like Johnboy in Battle Beyond the Stars.

  19. Daycrist on June 19, 2022 at 12:52 am

What they could have done with an Obiwan Kenobi TV show was show him investigatings and dealing with Darth Krayt, who was a serious Sith Lord….

  20. Andrew Olding on June 19, 2022 at 12:53 am

Letters for the King on Netflix is the perfect example of what you’re talking about with perfectly paced limited series.

  21. Cordova Lark on June 19, 2022 at 12:53 am

Shooting in Volume is bad, very bad. For some reason building sets is something Disney frowns upon.

  22. Chris on June 19, 2022 at 12:53 am

I hate that he becomes so weak – how exactly was he supposed to protect Luke from anything when he is so out of practice/shape.

  23. steve schoening on June 19, 2022 at 12:53 am

This doesn’t feel like a genuine RLM review. I can’t figure out why.

  24. Lucas Kelly on June 19, 2022 at 12:54 am

These guys have no right to criticize anything Star Wars from this point on.

  25. Mashbash on June 19, 2022 at 12:55 am

Sand is Anakin’s one weakness, that’s why uncle Ben hid behind a pile of it.

  26. Marcel Block on June 19, 2022 at 12:55 am

24:00 That already happened. In Star Wars Rebels. Maul comes to Tatooine to Kill the Main Character, when Obi Wan shows up and absolutely annihilates Maul… again.

  27. Arphemius on June 19, 2022 at 12:56 am

The only thing worse than this review is the fucking trashfire that was the Plinkett reviews of the prequels. It’s not them being cynical people – they’ve always been insane on Star Wars. "Obi-Wan is the most boring character in Star Wars" was not born in this video, that’s an opinion they genuinely hold. Because they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.

  28. Mash Potatoes on June 19, 2022 at 12:56 am

This was just as bad as the last Jedi and the rise of Skywalker.

  29. Channel Dave on June 19, 2022 at 12:56 am

You know what it is? It’s stupid in exactly the right Star Wars ways. It obviously causes problems for the original trilogy but that doesn’t matter anymore. You’re right.

This equals some Disney Marvel tv as the most expensive episodes of tv there has ever been. Ever.

  32. Watanuki Productions on June 19, 2022 at 1:04 am

Since Obi-wan already breaks canon they should have just gone full hammy alternate timeline with it. After she’s kidnapped Vader discovers that Leia is his daughter then we get to watch the scene unfold where he find Reva torturing his daughter. The Organas are hunted down as traitors to the empire. Daddy Vader teaching her to be evil. Just pure schlock but actually entertaining.

This review sucks more than the show

  43. Richard Short on June 19, 2022 at 1:21 am

The best thing about the Obi-Wan show is you never have to watch the shitty prequels again. Just watch the opening sequence of the first episode. That alone is a major win.

  49. Ryan Hall on June 19, 2022 at 1:25 am

πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜±πŸ˜ͺ "HATED ROGUE ONE"???? Then proceeded to show a clip of some of the best TIE fighter action, and the best visual effects in Star Wars history!

I usually agree with everything these guys say, but Rogue one is the best Disney movie in the last 25 years by far. No Jedi’s, no father son drama, no dashing heroes that win every single fight, no midicorians, no Reva or baby Leia, ROGUE ONE put the WAR back in Star Wars.

These guys have gone soft in the head. Too much trash TV is dulling their senses
