Polaris at Computex – RX 480 unveiled at $199, RX 490 in hiding.

I really doubt the RX 480 is the only Polaris 10 graphics card coming this summer.

    rx 4×0?

  2. hvd iv on July 28, 2022 at 2:31 am

rx 490 waiting for 2017 most likely the wont kill the sales of the rx 480.

  3. MegaChickenPunch on July 28, 2022 at 2:33 am

All i care is performance per dollar not per wat…

  4. Rex Goes Fishing on July 28, 2022 at 2:34 am

What AMD meant by 51% GPU utilization, they meant 51% GPU utilization out of both cards in single batch GPU mode. But even if it is like that, that only adds up to 102% GPU utilization out of 200% GPU utilization. Look at the multi batch GPU utilization and it was actually 92% used out of both cards and not 51%. AMD fucked up their graphs… http://videocardz.com/60860/amd-explains-image-quality-in-aots-radeon-rx-480-cf-vs-gtx-1080-demonstration

  5. Red Team Gaming on July 28, 2022 at 2:34 am

Well actually if the r9 390 beats the 970 shouldn’t the the RX 490 beat the 1070 ? I think so.

  6. Michael on July 28, 2022 at 2:35 am

I just want the 490/490x so i dont have to worry about some games that wont support sli. That or im just getting a 1070/1080

  7. NwS KaM1KaZe on July 28, 2022 at 2:36 am

    no new video 🙁

    X = 10 just for the children

  9. MechBandit on July 28, 2022 at 2:38 am

So AMD is waiting for ppl to buy a GTX1070 and THEN unveil their offering?

  10. avatharb on July 28, 2022 at 2:38 am

youre full of shit. very bad amd bashing talking about how great the 1080 is. fuck you. this is not a competitor. this is an "enthousiast level" mid segment card. how braindead are you for not seeing that.

  11. Abide in Christ on July 28, 2022 at 2:38 am

AdoredTV what card will you buy?

  12. Rex Goes Fishing on July 28, 2022 at 2:39 am

Now that I think about it, I think AMD might name the "RX 480x" the "RX 485". They did that with the r7 265 and saying "RX 485" is easier and cooler to pronounce then saying "RX 480X".

  13. Billy Taj on July 28, 2022 at 2:42 am

Awesome video as usual. So AMD are clever with the rx 480. But do you think it will make them money or be a loss leader in a way but increase market share? IMO increasing market share in this way is the best advertisement than any else. Getting amd cards out to many people will pave the way for them buying higher end amd cards and zen in the future. Possibly.

  14. padlockbeats on July 28, 2022 at 2:46 am

    epic vid as per usual!

  15. DigBipper188 on July 28, 2022 at 2:46 am

Looks to me like NVidia Pascal is the new Fermi in comparison to the new Polaris/Vega chipsets XDD

God i want some curry now

  17. elago on July 28, 2022 at 2:47 am

Turns out almost everything here was wrong

  18. MatthysJ on July 28, 2022 at 2:47 am

Is there any point in buying a gtx970 at this point in time?

  19. Bobby Walker on July 28, 2022 at 2:48 am

i’d like to see them make a smaller version of this card for mini/micro itx builds

  20. Neavo on July 28, 2022 at 2:50 am

Hi Adored, im glad you released this video.

I think the reason they named it "RX" 480 is because X is the roman numeral for 10, and since we have had r7 and r9, this would logically be R10 or RX.

    Just my two cents.

  21. Apollo on July 28, 2022 at 2:53 am

@Jim, every day I look at you channel to see if I missed a new video… I feel like addicted 😉
Can you give some hint when you plan to make an update or a new video in general?

  22. John Hughes on July 28, 2022 at 2:54 am

    X = 10 in roman numbers.

  23. Erik Bmods on July 28, 2022 at 2:55 am

the 490 hiding cause no one will buy it lol.

  24. Ryan Maclean on July 28, 2022 at 2:55 am

With two cards in low utilization, there may be a non-linear relationship between utilization and power consumption. If the cards get better performance / watt at lower power consumption, that might also explain why two cards are faster than the 1080 while having better performance per watt.

  25. Ishfaq Zaman on July 28, 2022 at 2:57 am

Why would they keep the rx 490 under wraps? what could amd possibly gain by not announcing it? O.o

  26. Brian Kemp on July 28, 2022 at 2:58 am

+AdoredTV Good video again as usual. The only thing im upset about would be the fact that i just dont think i can continue support my previous decision to buy a 1080 or 1070. Now im waiting on Vega, patiently. What do you think of the demonstration they did a while ago? Maybe 90 watts is on the high side? Or maybe this is a cut down mobile version? RX470? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jlwvuqzhjg

  27. XamN on July 28, 2022 at 2:59 am

Cmon man, 1070 is twice as expensive as the 480. Why should they perform the same?

  28. Bob Sarmiento on July 28, 2022 at 2:59 am

if amd just put two rx 480 gpu on one card then we wouldn’t have this argument right?

  29. Brandon Siebert on July 28, 2022 at 3:00 am

    maybe bc x=10?

  30. Uninvestigated on July 28, 2022 at 3:00 am

so is vega gona be $300 at 1080 performance?

  31. Jordan on July 28, 2022 at 3:01 am

The RX 480 power connector may be a 6 pin, but it can provide up to 150watts, effectively acting like an 8 pin.

  32. Sid Su on July 28, 2022 at 3:01 am

    What is this NVIDIA propaganda?

  33. redii2klutch on July 28, 2022 at 3:05 am

I currently have a 7970 w/ a 8350 I generally run @ 4.42GHz… 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory & SeaSonic 660W 80 PLUS Platinum. I have been waiting on the new cards to see what I wanted to do and paranoid I’d need to swap out psu, cpu and mobo. I feel a bit less on this now. I was also thinking the HBM was coming this cycle. I wanted to get your opinion. I play a variety of games BDO, Overwatch etc. I am unsure if I should stay where I’m at, grab one of the RX series and wait till the next cards and then build a whole new rig maybe or just go with a 1080 Strix. Please help me with some deciding factors, thank you.

  34. Altair4 on July 28, 2022 at 3:05 am

Latest rumour is that AMD is doing an "Nvidia" and not launching the card at promised prices, at least here in Sweden. http://www.nordichardware.se/kronika/kronika-radeon-rx-480-blir-dyrare-an-vantat-amd-gor-en-nvidia.html and Swedish store Webhallen mentioned on their Facebook that prices would be alot higher than the promised prices. AMD are the ones that need to look like the good guys, but lowering themselves to Nvidia’s level is far from the best way to get customers back and I will be the first to skip em again. If they do this I will just get the GTX 1070 and tell my friends to do the same…

  35. Wybrem Gaming on July 28, 2022 at 3:06 am

The price may seem great, but don’t be fooled. AMD product always draw 2 times more power and this 480 is no exception. I made a huge mistake when I bought 2 390’s, resulting in my selling those now and getting a 1080. due the dramatic energy difference..

  36. Jack of Mods on July 28, 2022 at 3:06 am

There won’t be an RX 490 until 2017

  37. War Lord on July 28, 2022 at 3:09 am

hey Adored ! congrats for 30k , what should I choose r9 390 or rx 480? in my country they are at the same price 🙂

  38. Sean S on July 28, 2022 at 3:11 am

Makes a lot of sense and even at 980 performance level its still a great buy but now Im going to wait for the 490 partner cards then your talking.

  39. Neil Smithsonian on July 28, 2022 at 3:11 am

    Dear Diary

Its been 6 days since my last fix. The night sweats and shivers are becoming unbearable. I can feel my body degrading into nothingness.

The terrors have gotten worse too, I hear the heavy Scottish accent behind a door at the end of a long hallway, talking about great tech truths, I run towards it, but I never reach it. The door just drifts further off into the distance, the voice fades, darkness ensues, silence…

I wake with a gasp, wide eyed and distraught, grab my phone off the bed stand, open youtube and… alas… no new Adoredtv video.

Have the Fates no mercy for this mortal soul? How long do I have to suffer this curse?

My family are oblivious, I lament in solitude.

  40. István Iker on July 28, 2022 at 3:14 am

I’ve just seen the Xbox Scorpio reveal thinggy, 6TFlops, 320gb/sec bandwidth. Maybe that is the full Polaris chip with GDDR5x. Could we see that coming in to PC as 490?

  41. Dino Sabanovic on July 28, 2022 at 3:16 am

    I’l sell my R9 270OC tomorrow! Getting 480 😀

  42. Intel & Nvidia SUXXZZZ!!! on July 28, 2022 at 3:16 am

AMD is awesome. Because in some countries, Nvidia cards are just too absurdly expensive. In most countries, Nvidia 1080 is selling at around $1000. Just look at Australia and New Zealand are selling at almost $1200-ish!. Just get Polaris 10 and screw crapVidia.

  43. colin furniss on July 28, 2022 at 3:18 am

I just watched a video on this site where a single overclocked RX480 beating a GTX1070 in Fire strike ultra could this be true?

  44. Athus 775 on July 28, 2022 at 3:18 am

could a pair with this card a fx 3600 3.5-4.2 ghx 6 core prosseccer? or will it be too much for the cpu?

  45. LastWisdom on July 28, 2022 at 3:19 am

I hope that rx490 will not be an double chiped rx480…

  46. Matthew Robinson on July 28, 2022 at 3:21 am

I’d like to see a DirectX12 vs Vulkan API test…

  47. drees84 on July 28, 2022 at 3:21 am

Do you still think an RX490 is on the horizon, and will it be a polaris card?

  48. MattBankes on July 28, 2022 at 3:21 am

Well; You seem to have been wrong about the RX490, unfortunately.

  49. pine tree on July 28, 2022 at 3:21 am

would getting two for the price of a 1070 be a better idea than getting a 1070?
