The federal government has launched a review of Canada’s Cannabis Act, which is nearly a year overdue. The review will focus on the law’s impact on Indigenous people, cultivating cannabis in a housing complex, and how young people are consuming cannabis including impacts on their health.

A needed change – stop allowing city governments to effectively ban the sale/business establishment of legal sales. My city (400K + people) still doesn’t have one single legal retailer because of their conservative-bent. But every town/city around me does. They have placed so many hurdles in the way, it is impossible to make money

GIVE THIS BIZ TO THE PEOPLE, THERE IS NOTHING SAFER THEN CANNABIS, THE GOVT DOESNT THINK YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SELL A HOME COOKED MEAL LET ALONE A VALUABLE COMODITY!

more waste of money. Should have not made it legal and hired more cops. Idiocy at its best.

I am generally for un-regulating drugs use, but I am not for making decisions about allowing proliferation of marijuana without serious research re long-term effect of dope-smoking. One thing certain: I haven’t met a long-term marijuana user who would strike me with having high IQ or anything approaching it.

First and foremost how could anyone expect to pay high illegal products prices with its now legal. How does big egg compete with home gardeners. Our government has no comprehensive understanding of anything. Let the industry show you its value before u steal it all liberals! Only thing the regulated market has done was lower free market product. Consumers have seen a fall in prices.

When are they going to review cigarette and alcohol sales and their health impact? I swear to God, if I have to go back to hanging out in Mount Royal Park to score my weed, I’m gonna be really annoyed.

How would you like that cannibus skunk smell drifting into to open porch dsy in day out. God they won’t stop. Brain altering substance made legal. Worst thst cigarette smoke. Disgusting smell.

  17. Donnie McLeod on October 24, 2022 at 8:27 am

As a farmer cannabis should be just another agricultural crop and out of the hands of Heath Canada. Government needs to step aside, let consumers and industry decide where it goes. It’s insane that I can add almost any crop to my farm with very little cost except cannabis which can be upwards of $25 000 for just the license fees to grow and sell. Also the testing restrictions are crazy and guarantee store bought weed is e beamed which destroys your terpenes reduces potency, taste and provides an interior product. These testing restrictions make outdoor grown cannabis only good for concentrates which is a shame.

Black market is cheaper and better. A lot of the time the product at the stores is old and dried out.

If Nancy Pelosi used these words to a sitting member of Congress, then my girl, you are in very deep trouble. ” Use any means possible, to get rid of Trump, I mean any, as long as you do not tell me the method ”. If you gave the order for the release of Corvid19, I pray God has mercy on your soul.!!!

Health Canada is the wrong department to run the cannabis industry. All they care about are the "health" aspects. Even if it means a failing industry.

There is a weed store in every corner now. Almost every young person is addicted to it. Im scared for the future leaders and the generation ahead. I live in an apartment that i cant breathe well because of this and how inconsiderate people are with respecting other peoples choice for better air quality.

  36. Ryan StonedOnCanadianGaming on October 24, 2022 at 8:52 am

The problem is, when it’s legal for the government to sell but the people who grow it can’t… kind of makes it a one sided gain and not the side that actually needs the money… and then they go and tax ontop of it to make more of a gain.
A person isn’t gonna spend tens of thousands for a sales license to sell off of one plant that isn’t even going to make them a fraction of that. (Hence why the blackmarket exists for it.) Also, another problem is even though you can grow 4 plants unlicensed, the amount that comes of some plants wouldn’t even last a person a week, so 4 plants would be done in a month, which would take atleast ¼ year to grow…
I would like to get a growers/sellers license, but the process makes it impossible to build your own business from start with it as you need to have tons to invest into just the licenses to operate the place.

These are things I see that can be changed to better help, even while having restrictions for sales.
Allow growers to grow more then the limit that is currently made legal as the legal limit really doesn’t do anything as you can have a plant the size of a house or you could have a plant the size of a pencil…
Just because you have a big plant, doesn’t necessarily mean big or potent buds.
Nature isn’t very limiting if you know what I mean…
Like I mentioned before, some people can go through a plants bud very quickly even if used in moderation. It takes time for the plant to dry, it also takes time for the plant to grow and we all know time is money.

We need to address neighbour’s growing plants and destroying their neighbours enjoyment of private property. I am personally unable to sit in my backyard because of the plant smell from my neighbour’s causes breathing distress.

  39. SIRA063 on October 24, 2022 at 8:54 am

prisons have lost a lot of money since weed became legal, now they are lobbying to put you back in jail? need to audit prison wardens and the people that work with them, and if they are found to be taking money or deals form the governemnt, they need to be fined 200% more then they took from the government and if they put a non violent person in jail, they should go to jail too. we also need to audit judges, and see how wide a definition they use against our rights for the purpose of putting non violent people in jail.
