linus had gigabit speed back in 2016 and I still daily 50 mbps lol

  2. jamesali76 on August 19, 2023 at 7:39 pm

We get 700 + Mbps easily with low end computers for $15/month in Hong Kong

  3. HnH on August 19, 2023 at 7:40 pm

What you forgot to mention in detail is how to achieve this. People will start buying these adapters and switches to expect similar results but little do they know, it has to be setup right through link aggregation. Not simply plugging everything in.

I have actually been doing this on my main desktop for years using the onboard ethernet ports on the motherboard, vastly improved my ability to use the internet and do local transfers at the same time

Suposing that my router stays 20 meters far from my switch, and I have 2 pcs wired to my router and 5 pcs wired to my switch. Should I connect my new NAS system to my router or should I prefer pluggin it into the switch, so the NAS will be "near" the 5 pcs of the network? (these 5 pcs frequently transfer more data to the NAS)

Whats the ip address on the 4 network cards ? All in same subnet?

  10. AgentSkyper on August 19, 2023 at 7:49 pm

Hey Linus, thanks to you I now have much, much faster transfer speeds. It really works, even with 3 LAN ports per PC and older machines.

I cannot get this to work. I got a QNAP NAS with 2 ethernet ports and a X370 Gaming 5 mobo with 2 ethernet ports on it. I’m running windows 10 Pro. My switch is a regular home grade NON managed switched. I was hoping this would be as easy as plug n play. I am very wrong. I’ve been reading and watching videos for hours trying to figure it out. Worst part is, I don’t have another PC with dual eithernet ports to try and test it PC to PC first. So I dont know if the issue is my computer or the NAS or both. No way to tell. I got all the hardware you would think I would need to do this yet there doesn’t seem to be a way to make it work. Seems like a waste of 2 ports on my NAS, 2 ports on my motherboard, 2 ports on my switch, and 2 extra ethernet cables for something that appears to be a simple lack of software support. But I’m so in the dark that maybe it could work and I just have no idea how.

Im down way deep inthe rabbit hole. Can’t get my ubuntu server to send data at full speed. It uses the first nic. Will try table routing. Tried dns A record for both hosts. It receives on all interfaces but won’t transmit on all. Same subnet

  17. Rod Dines on August 19, 2023 at 7:53 pm

So many dumbasses out there! Lol Internet at 400mbps and 700 mbps is slower that a single 1000 mbps cable! Otherwise everyone would have to have 10GbE routers LOL.
They wouldn’t know what a Byte was if 1 bit them on the arse 8 times!

  18. Lewis Costin on August 19, 2023 at 7:55 pm

NIC teaming doesn’t work in Windows 10 Pro anymore right? They disabled it. Or you must use Intel NICs or something like that.

If you’re wanting faster ethernet in 2020, get a cheap SFP+ 10G NIC off of ebay. Much faster, way more reliable, and doesn’t tax your CPU the same way.

Mellanox ConnectX-3 cards can be had for $30.

This is similar to a issue i had the other day, tried to re-activate OneDrive on my machine, it kept saying the installer failed. So I installed Odrive and linked it to my OneDrive. But today morning, I was greated with a OneDrive login window, from the actual installer – where did you come from? Windows is SO weird sometimes

  32. Pup Shepard on August 19, 2023 at 8:13 pm

Now adays its better to just by two sfp+ nics and some cheep twinax cable and call it a day.

  33. Johnathon Landis on August 19, 2023 at 8:14 pm

Most computers with modern motherboards nowadays come with a gig port to allow a large amount of data flow. I also see this as a waste of technology because you are using one computer to just increase speeds, and if you use this one computer, it will definitely throttle speeds throughout your home if you use a low end router because of how much one device is taking for the bandwidth. If you have high quality routers, a high quality ISP connection, a decent NIC, newer cat 6 or 5 cables, a decent quality PC, and everything set up properly, you should get way higher speeds as long as you have routers that can handle the bandwidth. I would recommend at least two high end routers to help with this. Other than that, this will not be just a hundred buck job. Lastly, I believe this is only good for connection issues such as getting the speeds you pay for from your ISP. I have never come across this issue in the USA, but I’m sure there are people who do. If you do, I recommend buying a router with gig ports and upgrading your PC to a modern motherboard with a gig port on it. Correct me if I’m wrong with any of this. I’m just going off of what makes sense and my own knowledge. I appreciate any input so as not to leave anyone astray. Thank you.

    HI,

    I have following questions:

1- can i use 4 different type of IP series on this 4 port ethernet card !!!
2- can this 4 port ethernet card can be used as 4 different network connections OR will it provide 4 LAN Cards !!!

Actually i want to use this card in my PC based firewall (pfsense) for providing 4 different Ethernet Interfaces

    Waiting for your response.

  39. Jasper Skallow on August 19, 2023 at 8:23 pm

have you tested lan port settings in the driver for speed benefits?

  40. sy5tem on August 19, 2023 at 8:25 pm

nice little bit of info I didn’t know before today, thanks! even using mellanox connect-X 3 10gb fiber cards, knowing this additional trick will prove very useful. now to probably upgrade my servers end cards to infiniband cards with breakout cables to upgrade my point to point connections with dual ports from workstation to server! Very much appreciated!

my odroid XU4 was doing 40MB/s to my NAS until I simply changed the CPU governor from conservative to ondemand. Straight up maxed the gigabit connection after that – paeking at 110+ MB/s.
