Why are marijuana prices plummeting?
Why are marijuana prices plummeting?
Itβs a great time to be a pot smoker and a challenging time to be on the retail side of the marijuana business in Michigan. According to state reports from Michiganβs Marijuana Regulatory Agency, in October 2020 the average retail price for an ounce of marijuana flower was around $288 dollars. A year later, consumers were paying under $200. By October 2022, the price was down to $109.We asked an industry expert why prices are plummeting.
280 for an oz is a rip off !! Even $200 is a rip off
too much crap miracle grow factory weed is the problem
Nothing good happens when the government gets involved in anything let along Pot
I always get an ounce for under 100 and its 20%+ thc
Anything that grows out of the ground ought to be free. πππ
only fools go along with government regulation
It’s hard to sell a $2,000/ lb. The state should be able to pay off its debt.
If the groweries keep aiming for quantity over quality, people will get quality on their own, reducing income for the businesses.
What an absolutely insane piece that should be relegated to a discussion about marketing principals. Marijuana, whether it be medical or recreational, or both, is a free-market economy in itself. It is unique in several ways. As a medicine, in MOST instances cannot be prescribed as a medication in the normal sense. Due to government regulations and ignorance, it is relegated to being an uncontrollable pestilence. Absolutely NO MEDICAL VALUE!!!! NONE!!! Enough about that. Since marijuana hit the various markets, it became a "cash and carry" commodity. ABSOLUTELY no DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS. Then, slowly changes were instituted, but it HAD to be cash from an ATM. In regular sequence, more people, some better than most and many NOT so talented, started growing. Big bucks were the target because everyone knew what it goes for on the street, so why not a store? Stores cost money. Equipment in the store costs money. Help to run the business cost money. And so on. Here comes more growers. More product on the shelves. Hold-ups become more common. Prices need to come down to appease buyers. There is still room for "boutique" strains, and it is a good niche to aim for, but be realistic. The old "hay days" are over for the most part. Quality branding is becoming more important to consumers, even those on a budget.
βπ»βπ»βπ»βπ»βπ»βπ»I can tell you why the prices are coming down, at the start of legal marijuana, the dispensary in South Dakota, were charging twice what it costs on the street. Bringing the price down is the only way they will sell most of their cannabis
Street prices are as following don’t over pay any more peeps boycott them a nickle is 5.00 dollar and a dime is 10.00 and eight is 15.00 and quarter is 20.00 half is 30.00 and oz is 50. If your paying more they stealing from you ….
people can only smoke so much
grow your own and it will only cost you very little for an endless supply.
Cheaper than dirt when you grow your own
I live in Humboldt County. Yes there were some greedy growers, but all we did by voting in prop 64 was hand it all over to our greedy government. Weed growers used to put money back into our local economy while Govt is doing nothing but sucking out of the economy with regulating & over-regulating. You can’t even call what they’re doing legalization. The only thing you can call it is regulation. Ive watched friends go out of business and lose everything- having to sell their farms. I won’t support a dispensary unless I have to. The Govt wonders why the black market weed biz is still thriving. The Gov is doing it to themselves. Once the Gov figured out a way to monetize it, it was all over.
Cannabis prices were too high to begin with you shouldn’t be paying more than about $50 an ounce for it anyway 200 plus dollars an ounce that’s just raping
I live in Indiana and I wish you could get an ounce here for $109 let alone $200
Dispensarie weed is shit and way over priced.
Grow better weed. This 100 dollar price point cant be for the dankest dank
Weed prizes are going down because the supply is greater than the demand
