Pa. lawmakers renew push to legalize recreational marijuana

Pennsylvania lawmakers are making another push to legalize recreational marijuana in Pennsylvania.

State Senators Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia County) and Dan Laughlin (R-Erie County) have introduced Senate Bill 846 in another attempt to legalize marijuana in the Commonwealth. The bill would allow recreational use among adults and set the minimum consumption age to 21.

“The time to end the prohibition on cannabis has come,” said State Sen. Street.

A similar bill was co-sponsored by State Senators Street and Laughlin back in 2021, which failed to gain traction, however, they believe the timing is right now.

Legalizing marijuana would pay for so many needed improvements & fund every social program on the books. But if our backward ass politicians want that money to go to Maryland & Jersey, so be it. Guess we shouldn’t be surprised anymore by exactly how little politicians care.

So now Allen Iverson and Wiz Kalifia can sell cannabis in stores but for everyone else it’s prison. Soon one day everyone is going to wake up to destroyed cities worse than 911 and a bunch of dead politicians and their supporters and your evil nation will never recover from this coming attack.

People like me have zero trust in elected officials just think what they’re pulling on us behind the scenes that we have no clue of if they’re screwing us over on cannabis. It’s the end of America.

I’d definitely rather keep my money here than going out of state, but if the rule makers don’t want to enact change, what choice do I really have? ๐Ÿค”

  9. @dickydewpodcast on December 2, 2023 at 5:30 pm

Boycott alcohol for 2 months I promise you cannabis will become legal in all states ASAP you gotta hit the government in the pocket to get them to listen. If you stop the sales of alcohol they lose a lot of tax dollars so tell your friends to have a national boycott for 2 months see what happens you will be surprised

The only reason its not legal is because someone is making money for keeping it illegal

#notamerica pretty sad when Thailand has more freedoms then American citizens when it comes to choosing what natural medicines they want to use and not having to purchase it from the mafia government-controlled monopoly. Seriously when Thailand has more freedoms you know America’s a banana Republic… Fake republican scumballs playing a narritive for money and power.

  20. @john4148 on December 2, 2023 at 6:01 pm

How do you all like that lantern fly plague that God has sent upon your states. Just one of many plagues to come and it’s only going to get worse for all of you because Governor Shapiro refuses to change Pa’s cannabis laws for growing and selling. Plagues be upon you all!

  22. @Atmosrainmusic on December 2, 2023 at 6:05 pm

Pa is always last to the table. We could of done this years ago and been on the map. Could be one of the top states in the country for it.

  23. @stephen902 on December 2, 2023 at 6:06 pm

Should be legal but very illegal for people under 21. Weed set me back years before I realized I was an addict.

  24. @user-xg9rb5ko3h on December 2, 2023 at 6:09 pm

Indiana needs to legalize it. The governor needs to crawl out of his hole & come to realize that it’s a good thing.

  25. @hammyhamhamster5993 on December 2, 2023 at 6:12 pm

Legalize cannabis federally within each and every state. This way, irrational prohibitionist politicians can’t obstruct and prevent legalization against the will of the vast majority of Americans whom support full federal cannabis legalization nationwide. Treat cannabis exactly like we treat far more dangerous and deadly yet perfectly legal alcohol. Legal in all states.

    Couple questions for yโ€™allโ€ฆโ€ฆ
Why in thee blue hell is cannabis scheduled ahead of fentanyl?
When have you ever heard of someoneโ€™s death solely attributed to cannabis use? You havenโ€™t because it hasnโ€™t nor would it happen!
When have you ever heard of someone using cannabis then going home and beating their spouse? My guess is never because it doesnโ€™t happen! Our government will gladly allow any 21 year old that isnโ€™t already intoxicated, purchase enough alcohol to kill a human beingโ€ฆ. Who may get behind the wheel and kill manyโ€ฆ.. who may go home and beat their spouse and or children and never ever blame it on the substance! Or, theyโ€™ll justify it by saying the person made bad decisions influenced by alcohol! Our government will gladly allow pharmaceutical companies to prescribe poison to her people, knowing that itโ€™s killing them but allowing it anyway because said government benefits greatly from it! All of this is ok but theyโ€™re soooooo scared of the cannabis plant, which does none of that. It actually helps people! Weโ€™ve been played for decades folks! Cannabis isnโ€™t the enemyโ€ฆ. Itโ€™s the answer and solution to many problems!
    LEGALIZATION TODAY!!!!
Sorry for the rant yโ€™all. Very passionate about this!

For alcohol to be legal and cannabis not is hypocrisy at it’s finest. If the people of PA got a chance to vote on the issue it would have been legal in 2020. Never an overdose, it makes police officers jobs safer, it could create.. I won’t even get into the positive socioeconomic benefits. Listen to your constants

  28. @austinfiala5230 on December 2, 2023 at 6:17 pm

    LEGALIZE IT DUDE!!!!!

When the nuclear weapons hit your cities, and they will, there is going to be a lot of dead dirty cops laying dead in the streets like piggies caught in a net. Your children will lay dead on every street corner. Marijuana being illegal will be the least of all your worries.
