HUGE MISTAKE trying Hydroponic RDWC. Money Pit – TOP 10 Reasons NOT to Hydro

#growweed #rdwc #hydroponic
So I took the leap and bought a hydroponic system – A 4 bucket stirponic system from PA hydroponics. Shout out to Gary who I love despite this terrible beginning. He was able to custom drill holes for my tent and I assembled this and started my first every hydro grow. Here’s a video of all the problems and things I didn’t know getting into it. It worked out in the end as far as installation, but it wasn’t without troubleshooting.

I feel that you are/were way too inexperienced to have made a video on growing with hydro. You can use tap water. If an individual has high corine or other chemicals you just poor your water off in advance and let it gas off. The ph spikes you experience tell me as you feed your plants you never rinsed the excess salts building up though out your grow. Use big totes as resivors so they is no leaks. It is important to keep your water temperature 24 C and under. Which is easily done by having a hard surface under the reservoir. Like hardwood, laminate, concrete. Then add something reflective to the lid. Aluminum foil works, but I use reflective insulation.

I use regular DWC…individual buckets with ice probes…I use Jacks nutrients and cannabis feeding schedule…I use distilled water (which I don’t regret)…it is expensive to start…but for the last year water is all I’ve payed for…in return, I get 10-15 oz of the sweetest Sticky Icky per plant…no regrets here, keep the soil lol…

  5. @bongdan on January 13, 2024 at 10:22 pm

i grow rdwc for 8 years, almost all points are true, just the leaks, I never had a leak in 8 years, you bought shit pipes and connections thats why is leaking. Normal kitchen pvc pipes 40mm with bucket rubber adaptor and absolute no leaks, you can even move the buckets around, lift them up and wont leak.

I love my RDWC. went on a 9 day vacation came back and my plants were well-fed. I do want to get into drip irrigation I just got to figure out how to do it indoors. Which I don’t think it’ll be hardi just just haven’t researched yet.

If you want ro water for cheap just go to your local glacier water dispenser/machine my local one cost 5$ for 10 gallons

Yeah i wish i woulve watched this video haha. I was just saying today that hydro was the worst idea. I’m at $1230 for the hydro set up. Thats with the tent, nutes, hydro bucket system, etc. I had to buy an A/C unit because i got root rot due to high temp. So just spent $350 on an a/c unit just for the tent lol. Fun times.
I do enjoy how technical it is though. It’s taught me a lot. Like buying the a/c unit today. I went through my notes and it all came down to temperature. So i googled it, and sure enough it added up. So now that i know so much about the plant in such little time, i think growing in soil will be a breeze. Although, im sure theres a lot of stuff to learn there as well.

I’m really hoping to avoid the leaking and clogging aspects of RDWC. I am building my system now with elevated buckets to be as high as my reservour, 1.5in PVC drains that connect down to a central 2in PVC pipe back to the reseviour. The 1.5in drains are elevated 4in above the 2in drain with a double sanitary tee connecting them to the 2in main drain. That on it’s own should allow the roots more time before they end up clogging anything, but inside of the 1.5in bulkhead I can glue in a strainer on the inside slip. The res will be outside of the tent with two pumps, one hooked up to a venturi for oxygenation, and the other pumping back into the tent into each bucket. If I have trouble with clogging I can easily connect the line of buckets in an undercurrent configuration and they’ll have alternative pathways to flow back to the reservior.

Great information, I’m glad I watched this video!

  18. @judechopper on January 13, 2024 at 10:39 pm

I don’t use those stupid pots and expensive crap, air pump dudephuck leaks with those stupid buckets, it’s a scam, go old school bro

  19. @Gio-hk3ox on January 13, 2024 at 10:41 pm

Most of these things I don’t do and have great success so I’m not sure if I’m doing it wrong or not. I just use tap, ph it, add nutes and wait. Need to add water every now and then but I’m not having an issues brought up in this video. I don’t change water every 2 weeks, I use tap, and I use liquid nutrients from my local shop that’s like 17 bucks and last the whole cycle. Fan leaves are twice the size of my fists and buds look nice. So imma say this video isn’t 100% accurate based in my experience. This video is bs

  21. @Coka31 on January 13, 2024 at 10:43 pm

Il te faut mettre des grilles fines a la sortie du tube dans le sceau pour que les racines y pénètrent beaucoup moins 😊

  22. @anguilla1670 on January 13, 2024 at 10:44 pm

Don’t blame RDWC for you being too lazy or lacking the intelligence to research something before you get into it. Most of the things you complain about can be avoided by simply reading about it on the internet.

  23. @joebruce5344 on January 13, 2024 at 10:45 pm

    lol its easier than soil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. @leonlucas368 on January 13, 2024 at 10:45 pm

I love that pH meme. I’m growing in a single hydrobucket for the first time and have had great success in soil in the past. Maybe I’m too much of a boomer.

  25. @vikgoyal276 on January 13, 2024 at 10:46 pm

    Excellent video

  26. @iGoldenWax on January 13, 2024 at 10:47 pm

64 degrees in your grow tent and I’m supposed to believe you have issues with hot water? Growing different strains in the same water? Just use different buckets with no connections. Look at that you can stop complaining about leaks too! Cleaning too hard? Ok yeah the cleaning sucks you got us there. But also you kinda went with the boujee nutes, general hydroponics is cheap and reliable. If you buy the gallon jugs you save a ton! The benefits are WELL WORTH the 10 extra minutes a day and 1 hour weekly (roughly 20 hours of work over 12 weeks) for the biggest stickiest icky. It’s sounds like you’re using personal narrative to claim something is inferior instead of facts… your difficult water changes are easy to avoid. Just get 3-4 5 gallon jugs and when you go to the store spend 5 minutes filling them up, most of the time it’s distilled water and you do it once every 2 weeks. Stupid easy

  27. @bassboy6963 on January 13, 2024 at 10:47 pm

Bro I’ve been learning on my own because people around me are gatekeepers and the rest I don’t want to know. That meme @4:15 hit me hard. Wth does it do that?

  28. @steammartian7705 on January 13, 2024 at 10:48 pm

I’m not gonna say it’s not hard. I am into aquaponics. So it comes easy for me. I have been doing dwc for years. I’m not going to say I haven’t had any issues. But I have never had any issues with root rot or things growing from water temps. I keep the tent at 75. Most of the plants I run seem to like it. I don’t care if the plants are mold resistant that’s where I like my temps and I have great success. I also use the cultivation nation. I have no issues. Not every plant is the same. That’s where people have issues. Some like a hotter soil. Some don’t. U have to figure that out. U have to research the plant’s environment. But let me tell u. Every one tells me soil is easier. Bullshit. I get them to root in the pods and the min they go into soil. They die. 😂 from seed to harvest. They get nothing for 2 weeks. Third week they will get 200 ppm. Then about a month in. They will get 400. That is where they will stay unless they require more or less. The cultivation nation and all fox farm is hot if u follow their instructions. It’s is thousands to begin. I don’t suggest running them all on the same system u less u are doing one strain. Bc every plant is different with nutes

  29. @falafalman on January 13, 2024 at 10:50 pm

    Mother fucking cups 🤣🤣🤣💚🙏🏼

  30. @alexwalther3109 on January 13, 2024 at 10:50 pm

I honestly think rdwc is cheaper than soil and easier to maintain… As an experienced grower for the past 13 years… Takes less nutes maybe more r.o but other than that no big deal

  31. @yentang2265 on January 13, 2024 at 10:51 pm

    Loved this!! 😂

  32. @STMENTNETWORK on January 13, 2024 at 10:52 pm

  34. @jimboslice245 on January 13, 2024 at 10:53 pm

Yea! FuK YOU to those who say it’s easier🤣😂 wish I had watched this before I invested. I can’t lie those were my biggest yields though

  35. @Coreeeeey on January 13, 2024 at 10:55 pm

Top 10 reasons not to get a cheap hydroponic system…

  36. @60combat on January 13, 2024 at 10:55 pm

this video is total bs. i have been grown in dwc for over 20 years, my tapwater is 400 ppm and it has never been a proplem, dwc is much more simpel than growing in soil.

  37. @smokestrong1000 on January 13, 2024 at 10:55 pm

I’ve grown in everything and I’m using coco coir mixed with perlite now.

  38. @hasagreenlaser4229 on January 13, 2024 at 10:56 pm

So basically, you didn’t do your research going into DWC. You would have known about the cost of this had you prepped.

  39. @BRIANTHABARBER on January 13, 2024 at 11:00 pm

Get you a hydro bucket fool 😂 that will solve 90% of those problems

  40. @rmcnasty7319 on January 13, 2024 at 11:03 pm

    Thank you

  41. @jimboslice245 on January 13, 2024 at 11:04 pm

Man this is one of the funniest grow videos I’ve watched yet . Maybe because I went through it and it brings flashbacks 😂😂”MFing cups!”

  42. @barliner6129 on January 13, 2024 at 11:05 pm

The best thing you can do is to save your rain water … it is even cleaner than the reverse osmosis water.

  43. @leeadickes7235 on January 13, 2024 at 11:06 pm

RO water at the grocery store 5 gal 3 dollars.

  44. @jd83241 on January 13, 2024 at 11:07 pm

there’s definitely better systems out there, but hydro is still a better way to go for some areas. where im at, i cant just grow in soil anymore because all i do is fight gnat infestations and i’m just done with it after 3 years of non stop freaking gnats eating my root balls! 😆😆 not to mention all the money i threw away on gnat treatments just to still have gnats and lose plants! a good system is an investment, but what you save on soil, and pest treatments you can easily afford the fertilizer.

  45. @chasew020 on January 13, 2024 at 11:08 pm

If you can’t afford it, just say that it’s basic common sense on how to do hydroponics

  46. @pedclarkemobile on January 13, 2024 at 11:09 pm

Some Mylar on the buckets (top and sides) will stop the nutrient solution getting hot in the early stages before the canopy is developed enough to give shade from the light.
(This is especially relevant if using HID lamps, less important with LED but still worth it).

  47. @jadcock1023 on January 13, 2024 at 11:09 pm

Multi water Filtration system is where you messed up honestly

  48. @MrRoderickweise on January 13, 2024 at 11:11 pm

Here is your issue, your using a recirculating system, get several aeroponic systems and have those systems independent of each bucket. You can grow multiple strains way easier than how your doing it.

  49. @leeadickes7235 on January 13, 2024 at 11:12 pm

Get a 55gal blue drum and a float valve. jacks fertilizer i got 50# for 130$
