What cannabis legalization in Germany will look like | DW News

Germany is pulling back on plans for a broad commercialization of cannabis following some political opposition, as well as concerns from EU. Government ministers presented the new plan this week, calling for a ‘model-project’ to precede any further commercial sales. New legislation would otherwise legalize possession of up to 25 grams of cannabis and allow private growth of up three plants. It would also permit so-called ‘Cannabis Clubs’ for adult consumption.
Under the new concept, a nationwide commercialization of cannabis would only come after a 5-year model project with a more limited scale. The exact outlines of the model, including the area involved, have yet to be clarified. But the plan calls for scientific- and policy-evaluation along the way, with results to be offered to the EU.

Why have a 5 year model-project? just look at Colorado and Washington 11 years…

  2. @bezbez1 on February 9, 2024 at 1:21 am

I fully believe if Germany reaches full legalization, they will produce THE best and MOST potent Cannabis in the world. Nothing comes close to German engineering. Storz & Bickel is a good example of that.

This 5 year "model plan" is DUMB! It ruins plans for the WHOLE EU, if not the WHOLE WORLD because one dumb country decided to change the plans and force a dumb 5 YEARS waiting period before rolling out a SLOW & LIMITED legalization! Germany is hella slow and dumb when it comes to legislation and regulations! No wonder German government REFUSES to legalize a MEDICINE while ALLOWING & PROMOTING a 1000 times more deadly drugs! ALCOHOL & TOBACCO! Which is consumed by many kids under 18 (way more than canabis ever will have) cuz Germany is alcoholic country! This dumb plan literally stopping the progress of legalization of MEDICINE in one sector to avoid the crash of POISON in another one! Germany literally choose most retarded reasons to delay legalization of medicine that was banned by rasist America to control people of color!

Is Germany both Alcoholic and Rasist country!? If no, then legalize already!
    Dumb rasist boomers! 🤦‍♂️

This is huge for Europe, once Germany does this the rest of Europe will follow suit.

A clear example of EU masters telling a nation what they’re not allowed to do

  11. @spinachtriangle on February 9, 2024 at 1:33 am

The Unitedish Kingdom should go for it. Probably the only one benefit of leaving the EU. Am sure the fishermen would have some objection about that as well.

  12. @Captain.Pugwash on February 9, 2024 at 1:36 am

Sounds like the Germans are chickening out tbh

  13. @tobiastranetellefsen4203 on February 9, 2024 at 1:37 am

It will porbably take 100 years before it will be legalized it here it Norway, if it ever will happen in the first place.

  14. @Dj_Shroom on February 9, 2024 at 1:37 am

EU laws sucks. can we change em?

  15. @emelky6616 on February 9, 2024 at 1:40 am

Amazing they can roll out world wide a so called vaccination jab after 6 months that had no real trial. Yet humans have been taking / using cannabis back when the people were erecting The great pyramids. Yet they still want more scientific research done on cannabis ffs just give it back to the people.

  16. @mememan2344 on February 9, 2024 at 1:41 am

Oh wow yes such struggle over legalizing a PLANT meanwhile I can get all sorts of dangerous mind altering drugs from my doctor 😆

  17. @PatientenhilfeDeutschland on February 9, 2024 at 1:41 am

It will be not be completely legal just "half". For medical usecases it’s allowed but not in this easy way like in some states of america.
But anyways we help people to become legal patients in Germany 😊

  18. @thehandleisuseless on February 9, 2024 at 1:42 am

Bad idea, Germany already smells terrible because of all the Arabs smoking it. They should actually increase punishment instead

  21. @unknownentity8256 on February 9, 2024 at 1:48 am

Monopoly isn’t good, illegal cannabis will be the leading market for cannabis users until it is fully legalised and given open market with some regulation.
This change is just for the rich elitist to legally smoke, probably.

  22. @samabrahams7687 on February 9, 2024 at 1:48 am

Here in uk its still ljke the middle ages totally outlawed 😢

  23. @vm.999 on February 9, 2024 at 1:48 am

This week, mere days after the historic press conference in Germany, policymakers in Frankfurt and Offenbach both indicated publicly that their jurisdictions will pursue legal localized cannabis sales as a means to combat the unregulated market.

“If the consumer is no longer stigmatized and criminalized, the discussions about risks can be conducted in a completely different way,” stated Artur Schroers, Head of the Drugs Department of the City of Frankfurt, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine.

Both Frankfurt and Offenbach reportedly issued declarations of intent to pursue the pilot programs.

However, both jurisdictions will need to wait until a legalization measure is formally introduced and adopted, and comprehensive information becomes available regarding how jurisdictions can apply and what requirements will be involved.
