Push to make recreational marijuana legal in North Carolina on 4/20

There’s a new push to make marijuana legal in North Carolina. A bill was filed in the state house looking to legalize the sale and regulation of the drug already legal in 21 states.

Those filing the bill said legalizing marijuana opens the door to a billion-dollar industry, millions of dollars in tax revenue that can be reinvested back in North Carolina to support schools, health care and other local services like transportation.

“People have been smoking cannabis from time immemorial and up until the 1930s, it was essentially legal,” Representative Kelly Alexander said. “What we’re trying to do now is to restore that legality.”

Alexander is one of the sponsors of House Bill 626. It aims to legalize and regulate the sale, possession and use of cannabis in North Carolina.

“This is not the 18th century,” he continued. “We don’t need to put a scarlet letter on people for the use of a naturally occurring product that more and more people see as having a medical benefit, and a personal benefit.” #WakeUpCLT #Marijuana #Politics

If it was for medical reasons only I would actually spend the money to help with my depression and anxiety because all the other legal drugs out there do not help.

You would think that having a Democratic Governor in Office in North Carolina We would have no issue with getting Marijuana Legalized. Not the case, as I spoke with Roy Coopers Office by Phone and He isn’t sure that having Recreational Legal Marijuana is a good idea for North Carolinians. He stated that He wants more studies done. He also stated that even if He did support it, the North Carolina General Assembly would never approve of it or allow it.
😮 So in short I think We need a new bunch to run the Offices of the General Assembly and if He is wanting to stall the issue instead if listening to His Constituents We should be searching for a New Democrat for Governor Who will run on a Legalization Platform for Our State. The Current Governor seems to also want to send too much money to the General Assembly to pay for His Jail Overcrowding Program where jails are kept full of low level crimes many involving simple drug possession and this in turn allowing for Sherrifs and Towns to scream Ae have a jail Overcrowding Problem 😮! These Counties are swapping inmates around instead of sending People home on Pretrial Release. All areas that are participating in this money racket are getting paid $83,000.00 more from the Fical State Budget. We need to defund and demand reforms!
Hard earned income is being spent on Hemp which is far worse on People’s lungs. The hemp derived products are not meant for consumption either. 😢 Also, as American Citizens from North Carolina are being held in jails for almost a year before they even get to go to Court, they get their cases heard and are handed harsh mandatory minimum sentences even for misdemeanors. Once they return to Society they realize they can’t find housing in most of the State due to the mass migration of immigrants from Other Countries Who were urged to come here for Our Jobs and rob what few Social Dollars Law Enforcement doesn’t soak up. Defunding the NC State Government may sound like a critical joke but until We the Citizens are able to be proud of How We are Governed, maybe it’s time to do exactly that!
I’m not certain how We would make much difference as Corporate America runs everything through thier Shadow Government. These Industries and Corporations are not letting Their Power grab be taken away without a huge amount of fighting and pressure!

Having this would leave me less inclined to drink. And we all know how things like Xanax are a trap too. There is no negative for this. It only got illegal in the first place cause the people with power hated free spirits and minorities.

The first documented use of marijuana was 2800 BC. The politicians say more research is needed, yet a vaccination for covid can be developed and put out world wide within a year. Sounds to me like someone is stonewalling and trying to force their archaic beliefs on everyone else. Get rid of these backwards politicians that are holding NC back. Everyone with more than one branch in their family tree knows drinking alcohol or even simply driving a car today is way more dangerous than cannabis ever will be. The politicians know the majority want it. What happened to this country being a democracy where the majority rules? These scumbag politicians are just wannabe bible thumping dictators.

Lol it didn’t start with Colorado. It started with California.

  13. @0321ReconMan on February 16, 2024 at 2:25 am

It needs to be Recreational all the way, medical is so 90s lol. We all know its literally just political at this point. Any lawmaker who says there needs to be more studying done on the effects should be voted out. It is way safer than alcohol and tobacco. Stop stalling and legalize already…

If it’s legal I’d consider moving from California
