In US news and current events today, Sammie Rogers founded Higher Learning Institutions, a cannabis school in his hometown of Pontiac, MI. It will offer courses that teach people what it takes to work in the emerging cannabis industry.

Rogers says he’s been growing cannabis since he lived in California in 2010. He saw an industry that was dominated by rich white men and he wanted to do something to help change that.

In 2012, Rogers moved back to Michigan, which first rolled out a medical cannabis program in 2008. Michigan legalized recreational cannabis in November 2018, but Rogers says many people of color are still apprehensive about working in the industry, because of the harms caused by the racist war on drugs. But he says there’s no better time to get into the game.

Higher Learning Institutions received a $100k business accelerator grant in Nov 2019. A public ribbon cutting ceremony for the school is planned for Feb 2020.

For Ardhanarishvara shared Pakora! Why?Thought of buying a kilogram bucket of Pakora hug and munch on! thriving for self control and cross referencing benefits ended me up wanting to hug a bottle of wine and since Valentine’s day is this Friday drinking day sort of been naturally picked and the idea of bucket of Pakora is becoming Dollar store candy bag or chocolate covered peanuts from Bulk Barn. Advice. If you are wanting Pakora, feed yourself Pakora, or Pakora will make your Valentine’s day planing turn into a trip to buy kimchee! like that early morning decided to try Kambucha drink ended up emojing to my gut thinking hold on, home in another minute! Never gotten punched by drink before! female walker accidentally punched me in the crouch once! Another got my cheeks stitched gotten punched by security for picking roaches after hours for I am still not allowed to make living. Our god is love, peace.

Thanks for sharing. It would have been nice to see the man’s name in the title or in the earliest segments of the video. I think those of us in the cannabis space who are POC see this as part of the problem.
