Tilray CEO talks cannabis legalization, earnings, growth, and price

Shares of Tilray (TLRY) are jumping after the company’s fourth quarter beverage and alcohol segment grew 137% year over year. Tilray CEO Irwin Simon joins Wealth! along with Yahoo Finance anchor Julie Hyman to discuss the company’s recent performance.
“The beer category is declining cannibalization in the cannabis industry. So there were some big bets on that. With that, the challenge and the strategy, how do you make beer fun again? What do you do about beer? The perception was that beer was drank mostly by white men out there and how do you bring more females into beer? How do you bring that younger generation? And also we repositioned ourselves as Tilray Beverages. We got into the water, the energy drinks, non-alcoholic beer and really came out with some great fun products within the beer category,” Simon tells Yahoo finance.

Cannabis should be absolutely just as legal and easy to obtain anywhere as alcohol currently is. In every single state. No exceptions. It’s so easy: As legal and easy to obtain/use as alcohol currently is. Why hold relatively benign, often healing cannabis to any sort of irrational, stricter double standard than perfectly legal alcohol?

Legalize cannabis federally now. What’s legal to possess and consume in over half of the populated areas of The United States should not make you a criminal in states still being governed by woefully ignorant prohibitionist politicians. Cannabis consumers in all states deserve and demand equal rights and protections under our laws that are currently afforded to the drinkers of far more dangerous and deadly, yet perfectly legal, widely accepted, endlessly advertised and even glorified as an All-American pastime, alcohol. Plain and simple! Legalize Nationwide Federally Now!

"We acquired…. we acquired…. we acquired…. " The money to acquire other businesses comes from endless toxic dilution.

This is why I’m bullish on Tilray. Steve understands how to run a business and his pivot to sweet water is gonna keep the business alive in the short term so that way they can flourish long term. Definitely hoping Congress turns blue so we can get national legalization sooner than later
