Why Should You Grow Cannabis Outdoors? How to Grow Cannabis Outdoors

Want to know how to grow cannabis outdoors? In this first episode of our series on growing cannabis outdoors, you get to meet the experts behind many of our successful cannabis grows and learn why it’s such a fulfilling experience growing marijuana at home and in full sun.

Swami Chaitanya, the founder of Swami Select describes himself as an Original Hippie. He traveled the world from South America to India before settling in the heart of the Emerald triangle, Mendocino county.

Co-founder of Swami select, Nikki Lastreto hails from San Francisco, where she had a career in media before traveling, spending much of her time in India. She considers herself a proper ‘60s flower child. She soon made her way to Mendocino as well, where she promotes sustainable, organic cannabis growing from reputable genetics.

Through this series, we aim to help growers—new and established alike—with growing cannabis outdoors. Your hosts talk about all of the considerations you need to make if you’re thinking about starting an outdoor grow. Starting with legality, then looking at the potential savings of harnessing the sun’s power and moving on to some of the finer details like weather conditions and which seeds to choose for your particular climate.

Does it make a difference to pull all the roots out to hang or just cut off a few inches into the soil to hang?.

5:43 You are not doing things the traditional way by using feminized seeds and growing hybrids. Landrace cannabis is the way the plant is meant to be, everything else is an abomination. I cannot smoke MODERN hybrids, far too high in THC, to the point it is ridiculous. The entire cannabis breeding program for the last 20 years has gone in the wrong direction. This is not surprising because the plant was illegal, and hybrids were being created by hobbyists and drug dealers, not scientists.

The minute it became legal here in New Mexico, 3/4 of the state breathed a sigh of relief and we all had plants in the ground! Keep fighting! At $16/gram at the local dis’pointment, I rejoice in having my own eye on my own medicine for BIG reasons! Tell mom I stay high!

I did my second outdoor grow 2023 but this time I used 8 foot copper rods in the ground with quartz crystals, wrapped in copper wiring at the tops…. Let me tell you culture is real.😮 I had a 50% increase in each plan versus 2022

Why are all the good vids showing up a year late? Anyway, last year was my first grow and it was outdoors. By first I mean serious, the 60s and 70s don’t count! Out of 4 good plants started the deer got my plants first, I saved them, one out of the four was female!! After the deer got to them my girl produced some good bud but a small yeald! My wife and I are over 75 and in pain and have sleep problems. We don’t smoke but fill 00 caps with the weed. Any recommendations on a strain. We are up in the foothills above the bay area, more Yosemite area. Great growing season!!

After growing successfully indoors in Colorado for 15 years, I moved to central Mexico and am learning how to grow outdoors. I am wondering if I will be able to grow year round, perhaps two harvests per year. I can only grow a small amount legally, and hoping two harvests per year will keep me supplied with quality medicine. It is really hard to find reliable information about growing outdoors in the Tropics.

  21. @warrenfamilyvalues3751 on August 11, 2024 at 8:13 pm

I grew two plants fir first time this summer! Really happy with the final results! Amazing yield and high

  22. @CactusCowboy57 on August 11, 2024 at 8:14 pm

I grow indoors under LED and outdoors, plants directly in the ground. High desert climate at about 45 degrees N latitude. The outdoor grow is far easier and less time consuming to deal with. Outdoor bud is more potent, better terpenes and much larger yield.

I’m in southern Alberta, and we have hot summers and cold winters. This year is my first attempt at outdoors. Going with “bag seed” and a couple Blue Cheese clones. It’s now the first week of May and I have 3 week old babies and have been able to start putting them outside during the day and inside at night since it still dips below 10 Celsius. Next year I’ll be trying some proper seeds if I can dial in my indoor experience with outdoor and our very different climate.

  38. @RasMajnouni on August 11, 2024 at 8:36 pm

Did you also yell : "Don’t trust anyone over 30"? "I hope i die before i get old."

  39. @Wickedstickyflowers on August 11, 2024 at 8:37 pm

    Why grow outdoors
Because you got land and the potential…. 😂

  40. @keithward782 on August 11, 2024 at 8:38 pm

Too much background noise. Had to change to another grower

  41. @ahberlowkz852 on August 11, 2024 at 8:38 pm

Sure this is as natural as can be but you have to know your neighbors won’t be the first to get you.

    God bless you both

  48. @bruceguillory6953 on August 11, 2024 at 8:47 pm

Idk why it’s illegal to grow anything from seed especially cannabis because it keeps ppl mellow and calm unlike alcohol.
