Ugarte has to be an improvement on Casemiro against Liverpool yesterday anyways

  2. @osmon4607 on September 3, 2024 at 5:55 pm

    We still got Bruno
    Garnacho Rasmus Amad
    Bruno
    manu mainoo
    Shaw Licha Yoro Dalot

  3. @thedigitalbash1506 on September 3, 2024 at 5:56 pm

These days it is no longer enough to simply be a "destroyer" as a DM, the ability to build/progress play is now a NECESSITY for DMs. Some teams don’t even mind playing a pivot who is not great in breaking play, just be good on the ball and build play from deep.

  4. @roejogan2693 on September 3, 2024 at 5:56 pm

What about Bruno next to Ugarte?

  5. @popsiclemonster858 on September 3, 2024 at 5:57 pm

Hahahahaha. Exactly the type of useless signing i expected united to make. Dw lads their glorious banter era will continue for a long time

  6. @fglend73 on September 3, 2024 at 5:58 pm

And the athletic continues to over analyze a very simple gameπŸ˜‚

  7. @ParetoEmperor-jp6ke on September 3, 2024 at 5:59 pm

Nope, he will not helping if Ten Hag didnt aware his tactical mistakes and push hard Ugarte playing not with his advantages he always do

  8. @olumideandero6959 on September 3, 2024 at 6:00 pm

That’s why i would’ve loved if we signed Adam Wharton

  9. @scottlinton6577 on September 3, 2024 at 6:00 pm

Orrrr we have Martinez and De Ligt centrally, who are both equally adept at progressive passing… it’s not that big a deal, it’s a great signing!

  10. @fillipe4700 on September 3, 2024 at 6:02 pm

Sometimes he gets out of position, creating space for the opposition

  11. @lucasborja3797 on September 3, 2024 at 6:03 pm

Did Bruno forget how to pass or am i missing something

  12. @winniolanimus4995 on September 3, 2024 at 6:05 pm

Both Ugarte and Mainoo are young. They can learn.

  13. @sinceresaracen2874 on September 3, 2024 at 6:06 pm

    EtH has embraced chaosball

  15. @tadeajao3344 on September 3, 2024 at 6:09 pm

Jury still out. ETH needs to leave first for a younger, more modern mAnager for United to make any sense of their signings

  16. @arjunmohandas8870 on September 3, 2024 at 6:09 pm

    They should have got paredes

  17. @ronnieowino2048 on September 3, 2024 at 6:11 pm

We still need a lot of work in midfield

  18. @Noah51s on September 3, 2024 at 6:14 pm

I wonder if Ugarte will feel comfortable to sit deep in front of or in between the back line (didn’t look like this yet more, like a ball winning cm). If yes, a midfield three of Ugarte as a 6 with Bruno as a Playmaker and Mainoo as a ball carrier in cm, could look very promising.

  19. @tristomist on September 3, 2024 at 6:17 pm

Your haircut is very good too. No but.

  20. @archaicrapture on September 3, 2024 at 6:18 pm

PSG is free from UGARTE 😁 FRUSTRATING PLAYER.

  21. @rustedvelvett on September 3, 2024 at 6:20 pm

Onana pings balls anywhere for a 50/50 chance one of our players gets it and Bruno does the same. The contrast between us and City is like ying and yang, City being the tidiest team you’ll ever see play and us being the messiest 😭

  22. @888Salmon on September 3, 2024 at 6:25 pm

    3-0 to the reds

  23. @espben360 on September 3, 2024 at 6:26 pm

That’s why we needed to actually go for Ibrahim sangarΓ¨

  24. @TaandavX on September 3, 2024 at 6:28 pm

Kick and rush guys kick and rush

  25. @daratheprofessional1827 on September 3, 2024 at 6:30 pm

Just shows how clueless ETH is.

  26. @rolandwoltman7835 on September 3, 2024 at 6:30 pm

United lack progressive passing because Marcus Rashford is lazy and slow in attack. He had over 10 yards today on Liverpool’s RB as Bruno had the ball counterattacking centrally. Bruno’s pass would have hit Rashford in stride… Only it was intercepted because Rashford’s new top speed in attack is about 15 mph. Zero confidence. Zero effective play.

  27. @debanjanghosal618 on September 3, 2024 at 6:30 pm

United fans coping insanely in the comments. Yes fullbacks can invert to play from the back, yes bruno can drop deep sometimes to overload but still they need a deep lying midfielder like enzo or kroos. You really think someone like Dalot can be near as good on the ball as someone like a Kroos?

  28. @isaaccc726 on September 3, 2024 at 6:30 pm

The harsh truth is that every team wants a 6 that can do it all like Rodri but they simply don’t exist in football or are ridiculously expensive. Ugarte helps us keep the ball and win it back so he’s already an upgrade on Casemiro who consistently loses the ball and can’t win it back.

  29. @shishsuke on September 3, 2024 at 6:31 pm

Feel like most people have widely misinterpreted this video, JJ is not suggesting we will struggle to win games because of Ugarte’s lack of passing, rather that we’ll try to either force the play out wide or try to play more direct. And that if the direct passing leads to us winning the second ball, then we can progress the play from there with someone like Bruno or Mount or Zirkzee. If we lose it, then Ugarte can help win the ball back. Its not being said in a negative tone

  30. @oskaytaskn8551 on September 3, 2024 at 6:31 pm

    Nice haircut, JJ

  31. @georgewhaley4669 on September 3, 2024 at 6:32 pm

    Yes

  32. @Yesman10 on September 3, 2024 at 6:35 pm

Ugarte is the man to break up the opponents 4/5 on 3 players when we’re getting countered because Dalot and shaw are sat in the opponents half when we lose the ball up front

  33. @zanamandaza on September 3, 2024 at 6:36 pm

I want to see Eriksen, Ugarte & Casemiro for United.

  34. @EPL_Scout on September 3, 2024 at 6:36 pm

Creativity isn’t what you need from your DM. Progressive passing is ideal, but only at the right times with accuracy. We’ve seen with Casemiro, he tries to play forward & long too often which means we lose control and get exposed on the counter. Ugarte playing it safe will probably help United keep control of games a bit more. The responsibility should be on Mainoo to improve his progressive passing and chance creation. If he’s going to play a 6/8 hybrid position, he has to get on the ball and help United play through the lines. Floating about the pitch and playing simple passes I’m not sure is enough. United definitely need to replace Eriksen with a more dynamic, progressive no.8 like a Gravenberch/Bellingham style. Or a deeper midfielder to sit next to Ugarte who can dictate the game and progress it forward – like a Kroos or Carrick.

  35. @DonicoMarzhal on September 3, 2024 at 6:38 pm

    Casmerio and kroos/modric regen midfield

  36. @Stegibbon on September 3, 2024 at 6:38 pm

After that Casemiro horror show, yes, we need the safe pass and anyone that isn’t Casemiro.

  37. @fraac on September 3, 2024 at 6:39 pm

    haircut

  38. @WayofWyrd on September 3, 2024 at 6:41 pm

    Let’s F in hope so eh β€οΈπŸ€πŸ–€!

  39. @nickfenn on September 3, 2024 at 6:42 pm

So now they can win it back more times, to then give it back to then win it back to then give it back to then win it back to then give it back to then win it back to then give it back.

Solid tactics – can’t wait to watch United get battered for another season and fire ten hag

  40. @8Clips on September 3, 2024 at 6:42 pm

It’s all good, Bruno plays more progressive passes than most midfield duos put together.

  41. @RL- on September 3, 2024 at 6:42 pm

You’re not gonna get anywhere if you try to have complete players who can do everything in every position. This is why you build a team with players complimenting each other.

Mainoo doesn’t really have an overall midfield game either since he just tries to dribble a lot and shoot, and he doesn’t defend in volume like Ugarte does. He probably shouldn’t be forced into the first team and he should be eased in slowly while the rest of the team is shaped with balance in mind. Mount was a very progressive passer at Chelsea despite his advanced positions and their toothless possession style that didn’t use space. He was ranked sixth in the world in 20/21 – like Fernandes was last season. Maybe he could be repurposed as a deeper midfielder, especially as he’s very herd working and defends too, while a unit of four stays ahead to play the final third stuff.

  42. @Nofinator on September 3, 2024 at 6:43 pm

Bruno is 98th percentile for progressive passes btw

  43. @adityarao794 on September 3, 2024 at 6:43 pm

After seeing casemiro vs Liverpool….yes …yes they need him

  44. @tonylam4549 on September 3, 2024 at 6:43 pm

Maybe what United need is a Casemiro.

  45. @leolovetoparty on September 3, 2024 at 6:44 pm

    LOL

  46. @Cold_Logic on September 3, 2024 at 6:44 pm

Fred mk.2: win the ball back only to give it away again

man u fans trying to be delulu here hahaha

  49. @madeupstory9510 on September 3, 2024 at 6:50 pm

Charge isn’t even that good. He was quite promising once but PSG are literally cutting their loses by selling him after 1 year. He had a horrendous UCL and despite winning the ball back very often, he had massive gaps in his game. It’s probably Amrabat all over again.

  50. @maximusdecimusmeridius9359 on September 3, 2024 at 6:52 pm

I actually think you are miss-profiling ugarte, if you watched him in Portugal especially for famalicao he was considered an excellent passer and actually more of a playmaker than destroyer, at sporting he showed both abilities, PSG system likely meant he had to forgo he passing abilities to compensate for the rest of the teams lack of defensive responsibilities i.e front three, also PSG have elite attackers that do all the work and the midfield as more work horses
