10 Top Tips for Growing Auto-Flowering Cannabis Plants

10 top Tips for Growing Auto-flowering Cannabis Plants

Auto-flowering cannabis is extremely easy and advantageous in yielding plants in a very short time, sometimes as little as 6 weeks from germination.

Today we have listed our Top 10 Tips for Growing Auto flowering plants, reaping the ultimate benefits whilst producing heavy yields.

Tip #1: Plan your Grow before you begin.
Because auto-flowers have a pre-set lifespan you need to first plan everything. Review your whole setup including pots, lights, airflow, and growth medium whether it’s indoor or outdoor! A little mistake may result in lesser yield so be careful and plan ahead.

Tip #2: Choose the Right Pot
Auto flowering cannabis doesn’t like being repotted, so stop Pot transplantation. Growth rate is fast for auto flowers and repotting can disturb their progression. It’s better to use 11-18 liters of growing medium as a first and final pot so their roots can grow freely without becoming bound. If you are going to repot, do It sooner rather than later!

Tip #3 is Proper Nutrients Supply
Remember to avoid supplying nutrients in the Seedling phase. Auto flowers have a smaller root mass so try to be gentle in supplying nutrients. Otherwise your plants can suffer from nutrient burn and can be easily killed with heavy fertilizers.

Tip #4 Provide Light
For indoor growing, Try to give them 20/4 or 18/6 of light hours throughout their lifespan by HPS & or LEDs. However, for outdoor growing, 10 to 12 hours of natural sunlight should be sufficient.

Tip #5 Don’t Overwater
Try to sprinkle water to moisten dry soil. Otherwise overwatering will invite the bad bacteria to stick around the plant roots and further down the line can cease plant growth entirely. So AVOID OVERWATERING! Check out our previous video for more on that.

Tip #6 is to Check PH
Always use a proper PH meter or testing kit for better results. The PH level varies according to different mediums such as 6.0 to 7.0 for soil, and 5.5 to 6.5 for hydroponic growth. Moreover, PH variations suggest a disturbance in nutrient levels. So keep an eye on it at all times!

Tip #7 Train Your Auto-flowers
Use Low-Stress-Training techniques and try to avoid topping and pruning as it causes a poorer harvest. Make sure to get them equal light using strings and toothpicks, yoyos and zip ties for better growth.

Tip #8 create the perfect Environment
Auto flowers are reliable and should display healthy growth around 20-25 degrees Celsius. Nevertheless, make sure to have good airflow and proper moisture, and use shading in hot sunny outdoor climates. You can also consider adding additional Co2 to aid plant growth.

Tip #9 Harvest Patiently
Indeed, all buds can be harvested at the same time, but bear in mind top buds often mature faster than lower buds. So, start harvesting from matured flowers and leave the lower ones for later on. This technique will give you greater yields.
Last but not least,

Tip #10 Take care of them
Along with nutrients, lightning and watering, make sure to pay love and attention to your autos. In return, you will be left with a heavy harvest in a short amount of time.
If this is your first time growing Auto flowers, then chances are it’s not going to go perfectly. The best way to learn is to make mistakes and ensure you don’t repeat them.

We’d love to know about your experiences working with autos, so do let us know how it went in the comment section below, and of course if you enjoyed this video make sure to like and subscribe so you too can become a cannabis expert!

Hey y’all what type of soil medium for starting auto flower seeds, and how much soil? I’m using 5 gallon fabric buckets. Is that enough? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks sincerely that dude in the woods.

Autoflower’s life stages are not preset and not determined by time. The autoflower flips to the flower cycle when the tap root bottoms out and curls back in on itself. This can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months if the pot is deep enough. Typically people plant autos in a pot that is no deeper than 12 in. This results in a 30-day veg. Autos can be planted in PVC pipes 4ft tall for example, and get an extra month in veg.

Light height is, also common mistake. Just as important as under/over watering and PH. Avoid cheaper PH pens too.
Tying a string and hanging from lights is, a good way to maintain 12-16 inch from canopy. RO filters and good organic nutes like BioBizz, are also good for PH levels, as the water is filtered to 6.5 meaning, only water is needed to knock the PH back up after adding nutes.

Thanks for the videos appreciate you dedication. Can any one know if this will be a good grow light for a 2×2 tent : 【LED Grow Light with Quality 】240pcs of Full spectrumed LED bubbles are settled on reflective hood, gives out 2.75umol/J -high energy light photon, 20%higher PPFD. The light is efficient, only use 100watts.More effecient photons, less heat.

Thanks for these tips, I’m a first time grower and I have two auto strains that I’m attempting to grow indoors. I have a 3x2x5 grow tent with 300 w led lights and with a 4 inch air filtration kit. I have not added any nutrients because they are still babies. I will hopefully be able to come back and let you know how this went, fingers crossed. Thanks again for the tips.
Edit March 23 : The store sold us sick plants. So I’ve started over with White Widow AF 600w light full spectrum led 4" air filtration & it’s in a 4×2 tent. The seed sprouted yesterday so I put it in its final home a 5 gal fabric container. So we will see lol

  22. @benflyt9827 on December 16, 2024 at 1:48 am

The 2 main tips I think that has helped me these most:
Don’t give nutrients to seedlings. Wait until 2-3 weeks & start small & don’t bother transplanting from small to large pot. I did experiment 2 planted in 5 litre pot & two in smaller pots. I transplanted the plants in the smaller pot at 2.5 weeks of growth & they are at least 1/3 smaller. About to harvest & they never caught up. We learn

  23. @jasonmoffett5420 on December 16, 2024 at 1:48 am

Liked your video and I’ve been growing autos for a few years now and I think they’re great. Your getting a indoor hydro system results outdoors. Sure u don’t get a huge yield but with all the different strains out there u can harvest every couple of weeks. And they don’t take up too much room to grow which will b a good thing for a lot of people. Autos will get more popular as more people learn about them. 👍

  24. @benflyt9827 on December 16, 2024 at 1:49 am

Can anyone suggest a soil for my auto girls? I’m told they like looser medium so they don’t have any issues developing their root system. I’ve heard good things about Canna Coco Pro plus but need some more advice.

Planted 3 Autos from RQS company. At 2 weeks old they are already calling me "Seymore" and saying "Feed ME". Kind of scary how fast these suckers grow, I will keep you informed if they dont eat me first lol.

  34. @elsarm178 on December 16, 2024 at 1:58 am

    Thanks for the information.
I grow weed, I changed my CFL lamp to a LED lamp, and it does not suit my plants, they dried out.
I am starting a new batch with natural seeds from Senegal and I will buy a few other ones from Sensi Seeds. Plants are grown in a veranda so a bit of both indoor/outdoor.
Any advice regarding the light or seeds ?
Keep on trying, let’s see if we can get something by the summer. 🍀

have OG Kush and Supreme Skunk They are doing the same. When flowering they started yellowing and rust spots. I followed 2.5 cal/2 micro/1gro/3 flower per gallon. In Farmfox Frog soil with worm castings/Peat moss in 5 gallon smart pots. Also sea weed sometimes. Dimmable LED to the highest now at 100. Seems to be getting worst now. I started seedlings on 10/5. They started flowering about 2 weeks ago but not budding yet. PH around 6.4. I feed and water alternate every 2 days. I was thinking maybe not enough water so I increased from 2 quarts to 1 gallon per plant. I increased the water last week, Maybe they will come back? Seems when they go into flowering they need more water? and higher lighting to 100? Don’t know what to do?

  49. @walterricciardi2769 on December 16, 2024 at 2:16 am

thanks for all the videos. This is the first time I grow automatic , and on the balcony. 1st error is that I didn’t realize when the plants will be ready in August I will not be at home, I think I will leave the buds on the plants for 2/3 weeks more their harvest time,. At least I have 4 plants that will be ready to harve, on paper in 4 different week from the first to the forth of August..
2nd problem is that they have only afternoon direct sun light , 4h/4,5h more or less and I ‘m scared will be not enough. Any suggestion ? for the rest I can wait, I quit smoking sigarette and ash 10 years ago and actually I never been il love with weed, but growing by my self and play with different genetic for different effect on the body is very interesting.
