Trump’s Cannabis Reform: Reshaping America’s Industry | Trade to Black

Welcome to our latest TDR Trade to Black cannabis reform miniseries. Tonight, we discuss the potential transformations awaiting the U.S. cannabis industry if rescheduling and proper banking reforms are enacted under the Trump administration in 2025. Could these changes redefine the industry landscape?

Here are some of the things we’ll discuss:

The Department of Justice is progressing toward reclassifying cannabis as a Schedule III substance, recognizing its medical benefits. This step would reduce regulatory hurdles, unlock research opportunities, and pave the way for banking access. A ruling is anticipated ar some point in 2025.

The Trump administration’s stance on state rights could further empower states to legalize recreational cannabis. While this may lead to regulatory diversity, it provides a pathway for states to shape their own cannabis policies without federal interference.

One of the biggest shifts? The up-listing of American cannabis companies on major exchanges like NYSE and NASDAQ. This move could enhance liquidity, attract institutional investors, and drive the sector’s growth—essential, given recent 52-week lows in cannabis stocks.

But it all hinges on the SAFE Banking Act. For true reform, the bill must include safe harbor provisions for financial institutions and ensure compliance with FinCEN regulations, which monitor marijuana-related transactions for suspicious activity.

With these changes, the U.S. cannabis industry could experience a major transformation. But challenges like market volatility and competition remain. What’s your take—will 2025 be the year of transformation?

Trump supported Ammend 3 vote in FL to legalize recreational use (sadly it needed over 60% and it only got like 58% of the vote…stupid rule). They need to Federally re-schedule to at least accept Medicinal MJ. So many benefits vs. very few negatives.

Home grown!!!! That’s what everyone wants. I barely trust the medical industry

  17. @tow7813 on January 30, 2025 at 4:35 am

It should just be federally legalized cause there already has been plenty of research on marijuana. It has been proven that it helps people with medical problems. Also people when rather use marijuana them being feed a bunch of pills. Also the negativity about marijuana was the thing of the past. Also a lot of people enjoy it to just relive some stress at the end of the day instead of drinking alcohol that has been legal for a long time. Also just statistics shows more people die over alcohol than weed. 😎

There would be a lot less war and gain Wars if weed was legal because they’d have nothing to fight about and they would probably forget what they were fighting about to begin with😊

  37. @charlescarter3595 on January 30, 2025 at 4:56 am

I don’t think Trump is going to do anything about cannabis reform. He had a chance to do something when he was president the first time, and he didn’t do anything.I don’t think Trump is going to do anything about cannabis reform. He had a chance to do something when he was president the first time, and he didn’t do anything. If it’s not tax cuts for him and his rich friends, he’s not going to do anything.

  38. @sandyolah4346 on January 30, 2025 at 4:56 am

They need to legalize cannabis in Texas

  39. @stevemoore-nx8cq on January 30, 2025 at 4:58 am

Why the f is alcohol legal? It has, not one good health benefit and kills billions on our roads every year but these politicians cabinets are full of alcohol and they think marijuana is bad? Gtfoh!!

Legal or not we are still going to smoke it

  43. @zachj4253 on January 30, 2025 at 5:05 am

I think there should be a federal law that protects people for traveling with cannabis from state to state especially if you drive into a illegal state.

  44. @CHOOCH-pu9ei on January 30, 2025 at 5:05 am

    Regulations are a rip off

  45. @arefx on January 30, 2025 at 5:06 am

He’ll legalize it for a large enough bribe.

  46. @RA-uq1uc on January 30, 2025 at 5:08 am

make sure they get all the rules and regs in so they have their hands in the jar first and controls the flow of money and info.

  47. @MrBigangry on January 30, 2025 at 5:11 am

On one hand i dont see why he would because its fine just being left up to the states. On the other hand there are business related reasons to just get rid of a lot of the regulations or fed laws in other words.

It would make sense to get rid of the federal crimes all together and still allow states to outlaw it if they chose.

  48. @MarySmith-xp6gd on January 30, 2025 at 5:11 am

Make it criminal to smoke it again

  49. @Czz-m6p on January 30, 2025 at 5:12 am

They’re selling 3.5 recreational for like 70 plus over here in ct it’s crazy

  50. @Mantaracer on January 30, 2025 at 5:12 am

    Stupid not to legalize 😉
