Pa. lawmakers proposing new bill to legalize recreational cannabis

Should Pennsylvania legalize recreational marijuana?

It’s been a hot topic in the state legislature for years, and some lawmakers believe the Commonwealth is dragging behind.

“It’s long overdue for Pennsylvania to legalize adult-use cannabis,” said Rep. Rick Krajewski, a Democrat representing part of Philadelphia. “We are now surrounded by states that have legalized cannabis.”

Krajewski and a colleague are looking for sponsors on a bill to legalize cannabis for adults, releasing a memo to the House this week.

Prohibition and Reefer Madness are only pushed and believed by a very small, lunatic-fringe minority of irrational looney-tune Holier Than Thou types that are on a never ending little personal moral-crusade and witch-hunt against relatively benign cannabis and it’s consumers. The rest of us sane, rational, normal Americans just laugh our butts off at and mock utterly desperate lying prohibitionists and their ridiculous Reefer-Madness-Rhetoric as the comedy show they truly are!

Sneaky, desperate prohibitionists whom never had any intentions of growing nor using cannabis ever are now using "No Home Grow-scare-tactic" as their lame excuse and battle cry to desperately try to convince people not to vote for legalization. They are pretending that if there is no home growing in the bill that is their only reason for being against it and that citizens should irrationally prefer to continue keeping cannabis possession and use completely illegal with possession continuing to be a serious crime and to continue criminalizing millions of citizens over cannabis, They are just desperate, irrational, illogical prohibitionists whom never, ever intend to grow nor use cannabis, just using the "no home grow" as a lame excuse/scapegoat to try to convince citizens to vote no and continue the complete illegality of cannabis in place.Any form of legalization of the possession of cannabis (even without home grow) naturally, logically, and rationally absolutely sure beats the heck out of the continued complete prohibition of cannabis under which cannabis possession remains a serious crime. Wouldn’t you agree with this? If not, can you please explain to all the readers here in great detail exactly why you feel that the continued prohibition of cannabis and criminalization of people who posses and use cannabis is somehow better for citizens if is no home growing in the proposed bill?

Cannabis should be absolutely just as legal and easy to obtain anywhere as alcohol currently is. No exceptions. It’s so easy: As legal and easy to obtain/use as alcohol currently is. Why hold relatively benign, often healing cannabis to any sort of irrational, stricter double standard than perfectly legal alcohol?

You can tell that representative was a complete jackass of course Colorado had to up their police presence it became a huge tourist destination after they legalized and made billions of dollars off of marijuana

Legalize cannabis federally now. What’s legal to possess and consume in over half of the populated areas of The United States should not make you a criminal in states still being governed by woefully ignorant prohibitionist politicians. Cannabis consumers in all states deserve and demand equal rights and protections under our laws that are currently afforded to the drinkers of far more harmful, dangerous and deadly, yet perfectly legal, widely accepted, endlessly advertised and even glorified as an All American pastime, alcohol. Plain and simple!

Republicans in Pennsylvania will NEVER legalize Marijuana. They blocked medical marijuana for over a decade. Not sure why people dont realize this

as a recovering alcoholic. I find it extremely funny how I can get blasted on liquor and beer the night before: and jump into a CDL requiring vehicle without anybody caring. BUT, ooohhh noooo that guy smoked dope! Boomer "war on drugs" needs to be removed. Everyone knows that it failed; and the police are only there to protect insurance companies/generate revenue for the state. big pharma hates marijuana because it’s basically risk free, and it grows…like a weed. motor functions are normal while smoking. all myth. all boomer myth. instead of legalizing it; we need it decriminalized. no government hands in it at all. if marijuana: a plant is "illegal" then why aren’t tomatoes? tomatoes contain arsenic and nicotine. BTW "YOUR EFFECTS" are covered under the 4th amendment. i’ve almost ruined my life with LEGALLY BOUGHT ALCOHOL. But, marijuana is bad.

Been hearing this for the past 4 years. Reminds me of Lucy promising Charlie Brown she’ll let him kick the football.

  19. @TheDannonstewart7 on April 21, 2025 at 10:12 am

Let’s cut the shit. The way they want to put revenue back into the state is stupid. They want a former commonwealth employee who works for the Liquor Control Board to tell me what strand to smoke? Nah. It’s not going to work.

Cannabis market is doing great in my state of Missouri. Pennsylvania would do even better.
