My favorite way to eat portobellos is to evoo it, generously season and put it in the George foremen. ❤ so good for a burger when you don’t want meat. ❤❤
I cook mine on the pan, initially dry. What winds up happening is they let out a ton of moisture. My guess is that contributes to the sliminess that was mentioned in the video. Once that released moisture has evaporated, then I hit them with oil/butter to finish. Just be careful if you use butter that it doesn’t burn as the pan can be quite hot already from the time spent cooking the mushrooms beforehand.
Seriously, light on the oil or they’ll suck it up, and do not overcrowd, mushrooms are like 90% water weight, it’ll cry out as you cook ’em too. Smells great, sounds like screaming.
My gf makes the best mushrooms ive ever had and she makes them similar to this. She pulls the stems out of small portabellos and stuffs them with spices and chopped pine nuts. They’re mouthwatering. I ask her to make them all the time now lol
I’ve tried to enjoy mushrooms many many times now, still can’t really get into them. I want to like them, I just don’t. Still the only way I’ll eat them is if their taste and texture is completely hidden, like small diced in a beef stew.
