8 year old tech still holds up, you’re not going to see anything spectacular from a modern graphics card that you couldn’t get out of one back then, you already had hard drives that could hold a terabyte of data, ram only really needs 12 gigabytes of memory to run anything and I remember them having 16 and I think 32 on offer over 10 years ago. The biggest difference you can hope for is an upgraded cooling system, which laptops haven’t really pulled off any major developments there, or using ssd instead of a disc drive, and I’m fairly sure those started getting popular around then too.

I worked for an electronics recycling center. I was the "computer guy". I stripped 300 laptops, and desktops, per day. (No one else could do more than half that.) I’ve had to tear these down…

I actually worked at Acer in Taiwan and helped with the marketing for this. How time flies. This was purely an advertisement for predator and was never intended for mass production. if I remember rightly they only sold like 60 of them!

Desktop replacements are becoming way too rare. Most people don’t need thin and light when they’re usually using their computer at home or in an office anyway. Being able to bring your computer to different places is huge if you don’t want to have everything on the cloud.
