Memoirs of a Cannabis Breeder – Captain Jack (Documentary Interview)

Meet Captain Jack, a legendary breeder whose journey began in the rebellious 1960s. A life-changing encounter with a mythical Afghan hashish sparked his fascination with the plant, leading him to visit a small village out side of Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan.

After befriending the growers in Afghanistan, they graciously gifted him with their precious cannabis seeds. With these prized seeds in hand, Jack set forth on a mission to cultivate his own Gulzar Afghanica on the West Coast of the United States.

The aroma of Captain Jack’s creations filled the iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza, becoming synonymous with SNL and its legendary after-parties. Today, Jack’s legacy as “The Smell of SNL” endures, inspiring the community and preserving a remarkable chapter in cultural history. Join us as we explore the captivating world of Captain Jack, his botanical wonders, and the profound impact he made on an entire generation.

Specially when creation was happening all the plants and everything else was already there before man stepped onto the surface so that means the only rules there should be on cannabis is the right to grow your own in your own house all natural. In remembrance of Mike Kavanaugh and the finest cannabis on the planet.

EXCELLENT video!!! Did you learn anything about hashish making in Afghanistan? I have been making small batches of hash for about three years, using shake that I buy at the dispensaries, now I LOVE smoking hashish instead of "cabbage"! xD

We grew a short-stature indoor Indica variety on the west coast in the late 1980’s. We cloned that plant for nearly 4 years. I’ve never seen cannabis like it. My friends were amazed. I’m 67 now, and back into growing legal indoor scene in Canada for my personal use. It’s nice to think that our early seeds may have come from this man’s efforts.

  26. @bobdobs23 on May 27, 2025 at 11:34 am

    ### *Holistic Process for Psychedelic-Assisted Trauma Healing (PTSD/Shell Shock) with Permaculture, Spiritual Integration, & Long-Term Support*
This framework integrates MDMA/LSD research, permaculture design, spiritual practices, and relapse prevention for a 2–3 year recovery journey. It draws on clinical trials (e.g., MAPS MDMA-PTSD studies), traditional plant medicine integration, and trauma-informed permaculture principles.

    #### *Phase 1: Preparation (Months 1–3)*
*Goal:* Stabilize, build trust, and align with natural rhythms.
    1. *Screening & Education*
    – Medical/psychological screening for psychedelic contraindications (e.g., psychosis, cardiovascular risks).
    – Educate on psychedelics’ role in PTSD: MDMA (prosocial, fear extinction), LSD (cognitive flexibility, mystical experiences).

    2. *Permaculture Grounding*
    – *Land Connection:* Daily grounding practices (barefoot walking, gardening). Design a personal/community garden (e.g., medicinal herbs, food forests).
    – *Ritual Creation:* Develop sunrise/sunset routines (e.g., tea ceremonies, fire circles) to regulate circadian rhythms.

    3. *Microdosing Protocol*
    – *LSD Microdosing* (10–20 µg, 1 day on/2 days off) to enhance neuroplasticity and emotional regulation (inspired by Fadiman’s protocol).
    – Journaling: Track mood, somatic responses, and nature interactions.

    4. *Support Network*
    – *Peer Circles:* Small groups for shared storytelling (trauma-informed facilitators).
    – *Mentorship:* Pair with a permaculture elder or spiritual guide.

    #### *Phase 2: Acute Treatment (Months 4–6)*
*Goal:* Address trauma through psychedelic sessions + ecological integration.
    1. *MDMA-Assisted Therapy (2–3 Sessions)*
    – *Clinical Setting:* 8-hour sessions with therapists (MAPS protocol: preparatory talks, music playlists, eye shades).
    – *Nature Elements:* Sessions near water, plants, or open skies to enhance safety. Post-session walks in green spaces.

    2. *LSD Macro-Dosing (1–2 Sessions, Optional)*
    – For treatment-resistant cases: Moderate doses (75–150 µg) in ceremonial settings (e.g., guided by trained shamans or therapists).

    3. *Permaculture Rituals*
    – *Post-Session Planting:* Symbolize growth by planting a tree or perennial crop (e.g., lavender for calm).
    – *Composting Metaphors:* Physically bury written trauma narratives to decompose into “soil” for new life.

    4. *Spiritual Anchors*
    – *Breathwork/Yoga:* Trauma-sensitive practices (e.g., pranayama, Yin Yoga).
    – *Ancestral Healing:* Incorporate culturally relevant rituals (e.g., sweat lodges, ancestor altars).

    #### *Phase 3: Integration (Months 7–24)*
*Goal:* Embed insights into daily life and community.
    1. *Microdosing Maintenance*
    – Rotate MDMA microdoses (1.5–3 mg) for social reconnection and LSD microdoses for creativity. Pause for 1 month quarterly.

    2. *Permaculture Projects*
    – *Community Gardens:* Co-create trauma-healing sanctuaries with labyrinths, herbal apothecaries.
    – *Wilderness Solo:* 3-day nature immersion (fasting, shelter-building) to deepen self-reliance.

    3. *Relapse Prevention*
    – *Triggers Mapped to Land:* Identify trauma triggers (e.g., loud noises) and pair with natural “resets” (e.g., submerging hands in soil).
    – *Peer Check-Ins:* Biweekly calls with support network.

    4. *Spiritual Praxis*
    – *Daily Altar Work:* Offerings to symbols of resilience (e.g., stones, feathers).
    – *Ecstatic Dance:* Community drum circles for embodied release.

    #### *Phase 4: Long-Term Resilience (Years 2–3)*
*Goal:* Sustain autonomy and mentor others.
    1. *Permaculture Leadership*
    – Teach gardening/land stewardship to new participants. Host trauma-informed wilderness retreats.

    2. *Sacred Economics*
    – Develop micro-enterprises (e.g., herbal teas, mushroom cultivation) for financial sovereignty.

    3. *Relapse Response Protocol*
    – *Emergency Kit:* Contains CBD tinctures, grounding stones, and mentor contact info.
    – *Booster Sessions:* Single MDMA/LSD session if regression occurs (yearly, if needed).

    4. *Legacy Building*
    – Co-author recovery stories into community art (murals, oral histories).

    ### *Scientific & Cultural Foundations*
    – **MDMA**: Enhances prefrontal cortex-amygdala connectivity, reducing fear (Feduccia et al., 2019).
    – **LSD**: Increases amygdala response to positive stimuli, aiding emotional reprocessing (Mueller et al., 2017).
    – **Permaculture**: Mimicking ecosystems reduces cortisol levels (University of Essex, 2020).
    – **Ritual**: Structured meaning-making buffers against PTSD recurrence (VA Boston, 2018).

    ### *Cautions*
    – Screen carefully for substance abuse history; avoid LSD in dissociative PTSD subtypes.
    – Partner with clinicians for SSRI tapering if needed.

This process merges psychedelic neuroscience with ancient earth-based wisdom, prioritizing *sustainability* (of self, land, community) as the core of trauma recovery.

I am SO glad for all the amazing work you did to share this treasure with us! I hope Oregon helps the entire USA see that legalization is a good thing, and Congress finally decriminalizes weed, so that other countries can also decriminalize and we can all have a legitimate worldwide trade, and people in far away places can earn a living doing something positive.
