French Pastries Explained (Most of Them)

French pastry breakdown! Of course, these are not ALL the pastries in the French bakery scene. I left out some of my personal favorites, and many of the “patisserie” or sugary sweet treats that you’ll find in most French pastry shops.

My goal of this short was just to focus on some of the baked goods that you’ll find in most BOULANGERIEs or bakeries in France, so that travelers will feel more comfortable trying something new.

Just try what looks good, the only way to mess up is if you only get a croissant and baguette because you’re afraid to try something new.

Adding my two cents here as a half French ^^ Canelé is not soaked in rhum but has some in the batter. The pastry that’s soaked in rhum is the baba, or baba au rhum

Love your pronunciation, and thank you for some french appreciation 😎🥐

"Pain au chocolat" or "chocolatine"… In France, there’s a full-on war about what to call this delicious pastry. Most people go with "Pain au chocolat", but if you head down to the southwest of France, you’d better ask for a "chocolatine" unless you have a death wish.

About the chocolatine, there’s a conflict about its name. Obviously the wrong name is "pain au chocolat".

To this day, the French breads and pastries I had while in and around Paris are hands down the best I’ve had anywhere.

Jesus Christ is coming back to Earth soon, and when he comes, it will be the END OF THE WORLD. You can get ready by accepting Him as your Lord and personal saviour by saying this:“O Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me, and God raised Him from the dead. I believe He’s alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I’m born again. Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul! I’m now a child of God. Hallelujah!than repent, go get a Bible, and go to church ⛪❤.

I’ve gotta say the obvious as a Viennese. Viennoiserie was popularized internationally in Paris. In Vienna we call it "Feingebäck", basically fancy dough articles.

Do Danish pastries next! Mostly because as a Dane I often get confused when Americans call something a "Danish", since more than half the time they say it about something that has no relation to our pastries, so I’m curious about what you guys think it is

With custard inside, it’s a simple chou. The classic for pâte à choux

If you’re struggling to believe what God has said, don’t speak doubt. Instead, meditate on the Word, and build your faith.

”Viennoiserie” because it is from Wien, Austria! Hence in Swedish we call Viennoiserie = Wiennabread
