Weed shortages across Canada | Power & Politics

Customers in several provinces are having trouble buying legal weed as shortages have led to delays. In Quebec alone, issues with supply have forced government-run pot shops to close Mondays through Wednesdays.

The marijuana in Canada is absolute garbage it is controlled by the Canadian government and by big Pharma. Its filled with pesticides and other toxic chemicals. the Canadian government doesn’t care about your health all they care about is the revenue that they’re going to get from poor saps buying their ditch weed. My suggestion for Canadians is start growing your 4 plants and make a gifting economy with marijuana and fight back against your government control.

  14. @robertallen5422 on July 15, 2025 at 1:29 pm

The LPs are growing cannabis with Prohibition style techniques that were meant to keep the pork out of the grow room. Why don’t these highrollers think about letting the REAL Cannabis Community in on the fun instead of jailing them with draconian prison sentencing? Billy Blair is not the man for this job and it was a terrible blunder to put an alcoholic cop in charge of legalizing weed.

  15. @Anon-xd3cf on July 15, 2025 at 1:34 pm

Canada should strike a trade deal with the united kingdom.
The united kingdom produces more medical cannabis than any other nation…but its not available to the UK consumer because its still illegal.
If Canada starts to lobby the UK government to produce cannabis for Canadian consumers…
Perhaps it would help drag the UK government out of the dark ages.

HEXO is building a 500,000 sqft facility 5 min walk from my house!!! I’m super excited to apply!!

  17. @ogrejd on July 15, 2025 at 1:37 pm

The big problem was that the LPs were taking orders they either couldn’t, or wouldn’t, fulfill. The NSLC, for example, only got around 40% of what they’d ordered for Day 1….

  18. @midqualitygaming3498 on July 15, 2025 at 1:38 pm

Most of what I ordered in Nova Scotia was disappointing quality. Partially fertilized buds and black ashes. Harsh tasting like it wasn’t flushed properly or at all.

  19. @Busmonks on July 15, 2025 at 1:38 pm

Just proves how ignorant the government is about cannabis usage.

  20. @fozzy0266 on July 15, 2025 at 1:40 pm

WTF is with the massive amount of packaging waste? We are making a huge amount of plastic garbage that is really not necessary. That needs to be changed right away.

  21. @seamusferguson326 on July 15, 2025 at 1:41 pm

If you have the space, grow your own.
Cana tip: If you grow outside in your garden, provide each plant approx 36 sq ft growing space per plant and steak them when they start to flower.

  24. @scohills on July 15, 2025 at 1:43 pm

There is literally weed everywhere. Let’s get real

  25. @sublime88sublime on July 15, 2025 at 1:43 pm

Im not sure how legal weed is taxed in the Canadian Provinces, but i live in Massachusetts where weed was recently made legal and the first shops opened up; and the taxes are simply WAY too high for the black market to start to dissipate.

The shops are taxed at nearly 50% of their income, which is just insane.
A friend of mine still buys all of his herbal remedies from his buddy on the ‘black market’

  26. @Lathenboucher1534 on July 15, 2025 at 1:43 pm

Lmao. i’ll just text my cousin then

  29. @jiyonmin4962 on July 15, 2025 at 1:50 pm

  30. @jq4136 on July 15, 2025 at 1:51 pm

This is just for the stores . Ask who you’ve been asking for flowers before & you’ll find it .

  31. @Val_Halla777 on July 15, 2025 at 1:54 pm

Isn’t it “wean” off of something?…not “weed”..?

  36. @babaku8510 on July 15, 2025 at 1:57 pm

Legalization came as a surprise to the Canadian government!

  37. @wearealljustclowns on July 15, 2025 at 1:58 pm

Lol black market will always exist, fascists cant stop it, but they will lie like they can, big surprise. Weed is free, come and get it, these people trying to run it have no knowledge of it, never used it, how much thc or cbc is in it, and says the money goes to hells angels lol, it might also go to a persons groceries for the family, LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE

Hey Canada, call me. There is no supply or quality problem in California, like he suggested lol. Our bottom shelf, 5/g weed, is better than most non Californians have ever had.

  40. @thechurchofgravity on July 15, 2025 at 2:01 pm

There’s alot of controversy surrounding cannabis, and it’s all fair concern. Frankly though I think the biggest factor in marijuana consumption is the mindset of the user. You set a directive for how the high will pan out from the start. If youre using weed to cover up problems in your life, or have any negative basis for smoking, then weed can be extremely destructive and problematic. On the other thanks if youre smoking with positive intent; to grow yourself or become more creative and share art and good vibes, weed can be a beautiful and wonderful tool. It’s a shame there’s a shortage.

  41. @magusvedarinreinhart7970 on July 15, 2025 at 2:02 pm

Lessen the restraints to get a commercial growwers lisence. Then regular folks could make a dollar and help supply the demand of the legal market

  42. @henfran4912 on July 15, 2025 at 2:03 pm

No shortage. They just want to up the prices. Its very easy to obtain.always was. The gov. Just wants to act like the mob. And be the only ones suppliing it. What ever happened to free trade between canadians? How many politians are invested in this? Whats makes one think the gov. can do anything right. . I can see this turning into a big dept for Canadians. It will and already is mis-managed and im sure money will be swindled out. Incorrect weights, very excessive packaging, lots of unnecessary waste. Shame, shame.

  43. @hbarudi on July 15, 2025 at 2:03 pm

Only 2 weeks, people are impatient, it is usually best to avoid smoking that stuff as I don’t smoke, but need to see the statistics especially when such a topic comes up and remember until Trump decides to legalize it, your supply in Canada will be restricted.

  44. @edzelmejia3233 on July 15, 2025 at 2:04 pm

Is there nothing else to spend money on in Canada? Lol!

  45. @bighands69 on July 15, 2025 at 2:08 pm

I do not agree with cannabis smoking but what would people expect of a government run system.

  46. @sierrastanley3109 on July 15, 2025 at 2:10 pm

…ummm…are these people just buying it without medical need for it?!

  47. @newfoundnugz5900 on July 15, 2025 at 2:10 pm

The weed in Newfoundland is coming from Ontario ..We will soon grow our own and hopefully we will grow something with some quality..

Definitely the government was not prepared.
The demand was not beyond anyone’s expectations…. everyone smokes weed.
The private sector had the cannabis sector handled and of course the government would lock them out and only allow sales by the biggest producers.
    Sad.

  50. @KyleTO7 on July 15, 2025 at 2:14 pm

Our government should have set up initiatives to get more people into the field.
